Kapil Patil challenges development claims by sitting Bhiwandi MP, demands proof of work

Time of India28-07-2025
THANE: Former Union Minister of State and former Member of Parliament from Bhiwandi, Kapil Patil, took a sharp dig at the current MP, Suresh (Balya Mama) Mhatre, challenging him to provide proof of his claimed development work.
At a press conference organised to present a decade-long record of development in the Bhiwandi Lok Sabha constituency, Patil questioned the credibility of the current MP's recent statements. 'If the present Member of Parliament completed as many development projects in the last year as he claims, then let him show them to the people—and we will be the first to honour him,' Patil said.
Patil engaged in a detailed discussion with journalists on key issues such as the prominent development works over the past decade, the Kalyan Metro, the proposed indoor stadium at Subhash Maidan, the renaming of Navi Mumbai Airport to D.B.
Patil, the Lok Sabha elections, the poor condition of the Bhiwandi-Wada highway, the Marathi-Non-Marathi dispute, the KDMC elections, and the slow progress of the SATIS project under the Smart City initiative in the Kalyan station area.
'If someone is genuinely working for development, it doesn't matter which party they belong to. If someone is truly working in the public interest and shows us the work, we should not have any resentment about it.

Over the past ten years, we approved development projects worth at least Rs 28 to 29 thousand crores, and you will see that all these projects are underway.
And they claim that all these projects were completed in one year, so we should also ask them to show at least a couple of the projects they have done,' Kapil Patil criticised the current MP Balya Mama Mhatre without naming him.
About 85% of the metro work in Bhiwandi city is complete, and Patil criticised the previous coalition govt for the delay in the metro coming to Kalyan due to their indifference.
He accused the coalition govt of completely neglecting the approval of the revised DPRs for both Bhiwandi and Kalyan, which led to the delay of the Kalyan Metro.
However, he expressed confidence that the current Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, recently approved both DPRs, and the work on the Kalyan Metro will begin soon.
Box: "An investigation should be conducted into the organisation using the name of Rajmata Jijamata for corruption..."
Rajmata Jijamata not only shaped Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj but also the entire Maharashtra. Therefore, she holds a place of respect and reverence in everyone's heart. However, if a contractor organisation is using Jijamata's name for corruption and fraudulent work, the state govt should take action to prevent them from using this name, Kapil Patil criticised the Jijau organisation and its head, Nilesh Sambre, without naming him over the poor construction of the Bhiwandi-Wada road.
Due to the deplorable condition of the much-discussed Bhiwandi-Wada road, 21 people died so far, and many have been disabled. Several social organisations have also protested against the poor condition of this road. Additionally, Kapil Patil indicated that he corresponded with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding all these matters, and an investigation will commence at the appropriate time.

'Fight political battles outside court, not here', CJI tells Karnataka minister

New Delhi, Aug 4 (UNI) The Supreme Court today dismissed an appeal filed by Karnataka Minister Shivananda S. Patil, challenging a Karnataka High Court decision that had quashed his defamation case against BJP MLA Basanagouda R. Patil Yatnal. Patil's counsel sought to contest the High Court's order dated September 28, 2024, which had set aside the proceedings, citing non-compliance with the mandatory procedure under the Bharatiya Nyaya Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). It was alleged that Yatnal made defamatory remarks against Patil during a rally ahead of the 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections, tarnishing his image despite his Cabinet status. At the outset, Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai, sitting with Justice K. Vinod Chandran, made his stance clear and said, 'Fight political battles outside the court, not here.' When the lawyer tried to press the appeal, the CJI responded curtly, 'So what?' and imposed a cost of Rs 25,000, which he later escalated to Rs 1 crore. However, the cost was waived after the lawyer requested withdrawal of the appeal. The Karnataka High Court had ruled that the magistrate failed to follow due process under Section 223 of the BNSS. According to the provision, a magistrate must first examine the complainant and any witnesses under oath and provide an opportunity for the accused to be heard before taking cognisance. The High Court found these steps were skipped, invalidating the trial process. With the apex court's dismissal, the High Court's decision stands, bringing the defamation case against Yatnal to a close. UNI SNG RN

Donald Trump calls Taylor Swift 'no longer hot' while praising Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle ad

Taylor Swift Dragged into Sydney Sweeney Ad Drama as Trump Says She's Not 'Hot' Anymore. (Image-X) You'd think a jeans commercial wouldn't be political warfare, but here we are. What started as a cheeky American Eagle campaign featuring Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney has spiraled into an unexpected culture war with Taylor Swift caught in the crossfire. The moment the words 'great jeans' turned into a thinly veiled pun about genetics, the internet exploded. And then came Donald Trump , calling Sweeney 'hot,' dragging Taylor as 'no longer hot,' and turning what should've been a harmless denim moment into a full-on GOP-vs-Swift spectacle. Trump calls Sydney Sweeney 'hot' and Taylor Swift 'no longer hot' for the American Eagle ad drama American Eagle's new campaign featuring Sydney Sweeney was all about wordplay: 'Sydney Sweeney has great jeans,' with the word genes crossed out in classic handwritten rebel font. But what was meant to be flirty and fun got dragged on social media for echoing eugenic undertones. Critics online pointed out how the ad seemed to elevate a very specific standard of beauty, white, blonde, blue-eyed and combined with genetics talk, things got uncomfortable real fast. Then Donald Trump got involved, and chaos officially began. After finding out Sydney is a registered Republican, Trump went straight to Truth Social and posted: 'Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the HOTTEST ad out there. It's for American Eagle, and the jeans are flying off the shelves. Go get 'em Sydney!' He followed it up with, 'Being WOKE is for losers. Being Republican is what you want to be.' He even took the opportunity to bash Jaguar or any company that doesn't align with his vibe. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Bo Derek's Probably The Most Gorgeous 68-Year-Old. Paperela Undo But the most unexpected moment? Trump deciding to take a swipe at Taylor Swift out of nowhere. Trump randomly veered into pop star territory, taking a direct shot at Swift's popularity. He said: 'She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became NO LONGER HOT .' Cue the record scratch. The attack felt wildly out of place, especially since Taylor had nothing to do with the jeans ad but that didn't stop Trump from making it political. With Swift being vocal about progressive causes and her support for Biden, it's clear she's the go-to 'woke celeb' target for conservative outrage. So when Sweeney got the Republican stamp of approval, Swift naturally got the backhanded burn. This isn't the first time Trump's taken jabs at Taylor, but calling her 'no longer hot' while praising Sweeney as the new conservative darling? That's petty on a whole new level. American Eagle's stock soared nearly 24%, because of course controversy sells. Right-wing pundits like Megyn Kelly and Ted Cruz jumped in to praise Sweeney's 'anti-woke energy,' while left-leaning critics continued dragging the brand for 'objectifying' women and playing with dangerous cultural symbolism. SC pulls up Rahul for 'Chinese thrashing our soldiers' remark

. NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi , the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, got a rap on his knuckles on Monday from the Supreme Court for his 2022 statement - Chinese are "thrashing our soldiers in Arunachal Pradesh" - while criticising the government for its handling of the Galwan Valley clash at the LAC. "If you were a true Indian, you would not say all this," the apex court told him. A bench of Justices Dipankar Datta and A G Masih lambasted Rahul for making allegations that China captured 2,000 sq km of Indian territory and asked him whether he was present there. It made it clear to him that as leader of opposition he cannot go on saying whatever he wants. Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, appearing for Gandhi, defended him saying, "if he cannot say these things which are published in the Press, he cannot be a leader of opposition". However, he agreed that the statement could have been worded better. SC's censure came during the hearing on Rahul's plea for staying a defamation case filed against him over his claim about Indian jawans having been walloped by the Chinese during the Galwan standoff. After the hearing, the court stayed the defamation proceedings against him but not before giving him an earful. "Tell, Dr Singhvi, how do you get to know that 2,000 sq km of Indian territory was occupied by the Chinese? Were you there? Do you have any credible material? Why do you make these statements without you were a true Indian, you would not say all this if there is a conflict at the border," the bench said.
