SELANGOR, Malaysia, May 30 (Bernama) -- YCH Group today marked a significant milestone with the groundbreaking of Supply Chain City® Malaysia ('SCC MY'), a RM500 million project located within Bandar Bukit Raja ('BBR'), Selangor, an integrated, award-winning township developed by Sime Darby Property Berhad ('Sime Darby Property'). To be built by Singapore-based supply chain and logistics conglomerate YCH Group in partnership with Sime Darby Property, the RM500mil valued project will see the construction of a modern smart logistics facility in Bandar Bukit Raja. The Investment, Trade & Industry Minister (Miti) said SCC MY will include state-of-the-art automation and AI-driven logistics systems, almost never seen before in the country. 'Combined with planned sustainability solutions, this project is set to accelerate industrial transformation through advanced supply chain solutions and logistics innovation. 'This facility will elevate Malaysia's logistics industry to a new level of global competitiveness,' he said in his speech at the project's groundbreaking ceremony here yesterday. Tengku Zafrul also revealed that the project will help train local talent for these automated systems with the integration of Singapore's LEARN ecosystem through collaboration with Singapore's Supply Chain and Logistics Academy (Scala). 'This will ensure our local hired talents are equipped with higher-end skills while future-proofing our supply chain ecosystem,' he said. Tengku Zafrul also said SCC MY is the first project under the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and is a testament to increasing regional cooperation in Asean. 'This project embodies the spirit of innovation, collaboration and resilience that defines our nation and the region while also being a testament to our commitment to fostering sustainable growth and regional integration. 'The government, through Miti and other relevant agencies, stands ready to support this endeavour and ensure its success,' he added. YCH Group executive chairman Robert Yap said SCC MY would set new standards of logistics excellence in the country. 'We are dedicated to training local talent, empowering them with essential skills to support Malaysia's journey to become a preferred destination for global businesses,' he said. Yap also revealed that the project will integrate sustainable solutions to its operations like renewable energy through the use of solar panels across its entire rooftop of the facility. He added that YCH will also look to invest in local start-ups and help integrate them into SCC MY's planned logistics ecosystem. Sime Darby Property group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Azmir Merican said the project will strengthen and bring much needed innovation to local supply chain infrastructure. 'YCH brings a strong regional portfolio that will strengthen Bandar Bukit Raja as a strategic point in the regional supply chain network. 'This project is a timely example of much-needed cross-border collaboration, aligning with the region's shared focus on economic integration, sustainable and inclusive growth. 'Through our collaboration, we hope to strengthen trade linkages, support innovation and contribute meaningfully to broader regional priorities,' he said.

SHAH ALAM: Singapore-based supply chain management and logistics company, YCH Group's RM500 million Supply Chain City Malaysia (SCC MY), a smart logistic complex in Bandar Bukit Raja, Klang, is expected to serve as a key enabler of regional connectivity. Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said the hub which would be completed within the next two-and-a-half years is the first project under Malaysia's New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) which aimed to accelerate industrial transformation through advanced supply chain solutions and logistics innovation. He said as Malaysia cements its role as ASEAN's preferred investment destination, the logistics sector plays a critical role in driving the nation's industrial and trade growth. He was confident that SCC MY would align with the vision of NIMP 2030 and the ASEAN Smart Logistics Network (ASLN) by strengthening connectivity, enhancing trade efficiency and optimising supply chain operations. "In 2024, Malaysia achieved a significant RM378.5 billion in approved investments, a 14.9 per cent increase from the previous year. These investments, spanning 6,700 projects, will create over 207,000 new jobs for Malaysians. "Such figures highlight not only the confidence global investors have in Malaysia but also our ability to navigate economic uncertainties with strength and agility," he said during SCC MY's groundbreaking ceremony here today. Tengku Zafrul said the project which will integrate LEARN ecosystem, in collaboration with Singapore's Supply Chain and Logistics Academy (SCALA), will ensure the local logistics talent is equipped with the necessary skills and expertise to thrive in an evolving industry. He noted that this project also offers the potential for the adoption of smart logistics solutions, further enhancing efficiency and transparency in supply chains, aligns with national agenda to embrace the digital economy and leverage technology for economic advancement. "This initiative reflects our national commitment to building a high-skilled workforce that can support Malaysia's transformation into a regional logistics powerhouse. Malaysia ready to lead partnerships to address supply chain disruptions: Tengku Zafrul
KLANG: Malaysia is ready to foster and lead regional partnerships to tackle the challenges posed by supply chain disruptions stemming from geopolitical tensions, said Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz. Malaysia recently concluded the Asean-GCC-China Summit, which highlighted Asean's unity and ability to address global challenges effectively, Tengku Zafrul said. "This summit sent a clear message to the world: Asean is open for business, and we are ready to lead in building a more resilient and interconnected global economy," he said at the groundbreaking ceremony of YCH Group's Supply Chain City Malaysia (SCC MY) today. He added that Asean, guided by Malaysia's leadership, is ready to tackle critical issues including supply chain disruptions, digital transformation and climate change. "We are working closely with our Asean partners to implement the Asean Comprehensive Recovery Framework (ACRF), which aims to ensure a robust and sustainable recovery from the economic impacts of recent global crises. "One of our key priorities is to enhance the Asean Single Window (ASW), a digital platform that streamlines trade processes across member states," he added. Tengku Zafrul said by reducing bureaucracy and enhancing trade efficiency, the ASW will be instrumental in reinforcing regional supply chains and increasing intra-Asean trade, which presently makes up nearly 25 per cent of total Asean trade. He added that Malaysia is leading the development of the Asean Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA), aimed at harmonising digital trade regulations and encouraging cross-border e-commerce. "This initiative will not only enhance digital connectivity but also create new opportunities for businesses and consumers across the region," Tengku Zafrul said. Singapore-based YCH held a groundbreaking ceremony today for its largest supply chain facility in Bandar Bukit Raja, Selangor. Situated within Sime Darby Property Bhd's Bukit Raja township, the RM500 million project demonstrates YCH's strong long-term commitment to advancing Malaysia's role in regional supply chain development.
