Kota Kinabalu: The 12th edition of the Sabah Oil, Gas & Energy Conference and Exhibition (SOGCE) 2025 expects some 4,000 visitors from both local and international markets, according to organising chairperson Dolly Jimayol. Not only from within Malaysia, but Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, the United States, Libya, Ghana, Germany, South Korea, and China. Advertisement 'This growing international presence demonstrates that SOGCE is gaining global recognition. It also reflects our state government's continued efforts to promote Sabah's oil and gas industry. 'For the past 12 years, our platform has played a key role in supporting this initiative — by bringing people together under one roof,' said Dolly, Thursday. She said the expanding database and wider outreach raised awareness of opportunities in Sabah, attracting more investors, collaborators and industry players. 'The increase in international interest is very encouraging. Compared to earlier editions, this growth aligns with global trends and movement in the oil and gas sector. A decade ago, not many understood Sabah's potential. Today, they do and they are coming,' she said. The event on July 3 and 4 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) is themed 'Fostering Collaboration, Paving Sustainable Opportunities.' It is organised by Midas Events Management with partners Sabah Oil & Gas Development Corporation (SOGDC), Society of Petroleum Engineers – KL Section and Semarak Training. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is scheduled to officiate. Running concurrently would be a two-day exhibition featuring 90 participating companies across more than 3,000 square metres of exhibition space. The exhibition will showcase the latest technologies, solutions, and innovations in the energy sector. Strong representation is expected from Sabah and Labuan (33 companies), alongside exhibitors from Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak, Thailand, Singapore, Canada, and China. 'This year, we continue to see an upward trend in participation, with a mix of returning exhibitors and first-time participants. 'The exhibition covers a broad range of services across the oil, gas, and energy spectrum—including engineering, safety equipment, logistics, drone technology, training, research and development, marine and subsea services, solar energy, and digital innovations. This variety reflects the evolving demands and capabilities of the industry,' she said. Dolly said new initiatives have been introduced such as the Youth Engagement Programmes in collaboration with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Kuala Lumpur and Sabah Sections, a B2B meeting platform, Product & Service Presentations at the Knowledge Hub, Networking Cocktails, and the SOGCE Networking Golf Tournament—which also supports charitable causes like the Sabah Cheshire Home. Keynote speakers include Datuk Ir. Bacho Pilong, Senior Vice President of Petronas, Malaysia Petroleum Management; Connor Dunn, President of ConocoPhillips Malaysia; Datuk Annuar Ayub, Chairman of Sabah Energy Corporation; and Senator Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, Chairman of Invest Sabah Berhad. Other distinguished speakers will also participate in various panels throughout the event. 'SOGCE is more than just a business gathering — it is a vital catalyst for Sabah's economic growth. It plays a crucial role in building an informed, capable, and future-ready community within the energy sector,' said Dolly. She also encouraged participation from local OGSE (Oil and Gas Services and Equipment) companies, SMEs, youth, university and secondary school students, and the general public. 'The future of Sabah's energy industry lies in informed participation, skilled talent, and visionary leadership,' she added. SOGCE 2025 is proudly supported by its key sponsors, including Sabah Energy Corporation, Asian Supply Base, ConocoPhillips, Shell Malaysia, Velesto Energy, Amanah Raya Berhad, Yokogawa, PETRA Energy, Eternity Mode, SLB, SOGDC, Technip Energies, GAC Malaysia, and Deleum Berhad and many others. The organisers also extend appreciation to airline partners Malaysia Airlines and Firefly, as well as all supporting media, organisations, and hotel partners for their continued collaboration and trust. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
