Concert Review: Atilia Haron & Salamiah Hassan Prove That 'Age Is Just A Number' At Joint Concert
It's not every day that we get to witness a mother-and-daughter concert, but icons Atilia Haron and her mother, Salamiah Hassan, made it possible. On Saturday (16th August), the two songstresses shared the stage at the sold-out 'Gelombang Bahagiaku' concert, held at the Plenary Theatre, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. From the very first note to the final bow, the audience was taken on a heartfelt journey across generations, with each song feeling like a love letter — from mother to daughter, and from stage to fans. We'll be dividing our review into the two artists' sets, so here's what we experienced at the recent show: Atilia Haron As the lights dimmed, the band opened the show with a brief instrumental of Atilia Haron's hit 'Bahagiaku', before the singer herself appeared on stage in a striking red dress and launched into 'No Fruits For Today'. Following her opening number, she thanked the audience for their overwhelming support before continuing with the heartfelt 'Old Love', where the 51-year-old showcased her powerful vocals. After introducing the members of the live band, Atilia took the opportunity to present a new track, 'Rekah', from her upcoming album. Although unfamiliar to many, the song carried a sense of nostalgia and longing through both its instrumental arrangement and lyrics. She then delivered an emotional medley of 'Bodoh' and 'Cinta Sampai Mati' (one of our personal favourite performances of the night) before welcoming the evening's first guest artist, MonoloQue, to join her for their duet, 'Kekanda Adinda'. Of course, it would not have been an Atilia Haron concert without her performing her signature track 'Bahagiaku', before teaming up with musician Jason Voo for a string of songs including 'Salah Sangka', 'Sangkar', 'Sudah' and 'Selagi'. Throughout her set, Atilia wowed the audience with her soothing vocals and commanding stage presence, reminding everyone that she has always, and will always, belong on the stage. Her warm interaction with the crowd reflected just how fun, down-to-earth and genuine she is. Ever humble and grateful for the opportunities that come her way, that evening was without doubt a truly special one that both she and her fans will forever cherish. Salamiah Hassan From one star to the next, the very reason for Atilia Haron's existence and the source of her inspiration, Salamiah Hassan, was warmly welcomed to the stage by her daughter. She opened her set with the upbeat 'I'm So Excited', originally by The Pointer Sisters. From the very first number, the veteran performer proved that she still has what it takes, showing that age is just a number at 74 years old, as the audience couldn't help but want to dance along. After such an energetic start, the legend slowed the pace with the poignant 'Surat Terakhir', a performance that once again showcased her vocal prowess, before treating the audience to a nostalgic medley of 'Miang Miang Keladi', 'Kau Dan Alasanmu' and 'Antara Dua Kasih'. She then welcomed the evening's second guest artist, Hardy Arbi, to join her for a duet of 'Berdebar-Debar Rasa Hati', a song she originally performed with Ahmad Jais for the 1976 film 'Cinta dan Lagu'. Salamiah Hassan delivered a breathtaking performance of 'Kenang Daku Dalam Doamu', a song she described as a lullaby her mother once sang to her at bedtime. The final guest artist of the night, Mimifly, then took to the stage while the icon took a short break. The rapper performed her rendition of 'Sahabat', dedicating it to Atilia Haron and Salamiah Hassan as a gesture of gratitude for their love, support and guidance, the very reasons behind her return to music. The crowd then cheered when she performed her hit comeback song 'Angkat' before Salamiah returned with 'Superstar', 'Semut Semut Di Titian Usang', 'Menghitung Hari', 'If You Go Away' and finally, completing her set with her legendary 'Gelombang', accompanied by a sea of lights from the audience. Throughout her set, Salamiah Hassan radiated unmatched charm and versatility. There was never a dull moment with her on stage, as her witty personality kept the audience entertained and uplifted. Atilia Haron then returned to join her mother for a heartwarming mother-daughter duet of 'Age Is Just a Number', before the encore performance of 'Empat Dara' with Mimifly and Elvira Arul brought the night to a joyous close. Overall, the 'Gelombang Bahagiaku' concert truly lived up to its name. The venue may be small, or 'cute' as Atilia described it, but the intimate setting of the Plenary Theatre played a key role in creating a warm, homely atmosphere, almost like a joyful gathering of friends and family. The artists' respective sets were nothing short of remarkable, moving seamlessly from energetic uptempo numbers to heartfelt ballads, duets and collaborations. Each moment was a testament to their enduring legacy, with powerful performances that showed no signs of slowing down, further proving that age truly is just a number. If there is ever another chance to experience a concert by the two main stars of the night, we would certainly want to be there to witness the momentous occasion.

'A night of love' as legendary singer Salamiah Hassan teams up with daughter Atilia for a magical outing in special concert at KLCC
Get set for a magical night with legendary singer Salamiah Hassan and also her talended singer-actress daughter Atilia Haron. On a night promised to be filled with magic and cherished memories, renowned singer Atilia and her mother has promised fans an unforgettable night of retro music and enchanting songs, in a special performance titled 'Konsert Gelombang Bahagiaku', organised by Mujik Wand Production, the event and production outfit led by Salamiah's son Raja Ahmad Shah Raja Haron. The concert will take place on August 16, 2025, at 8:30pm at the Plenary Theatre, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). More than just a concert, 'Gelombang Bahagiaku' is a symphony of love between two extraordinary women, 'daughter and mother' — united by blood, bound by love, and immortalised through music. On top of that, fans can also get set for a wonderful rendition of the duo's new single 'Age is just a Number'. And according to Atilia, she said that the new single which will feature both Bahasa Malaysia-English in the lyrics, is also the first single that will feature the daughter-mother combo. A Daughter's Dream Come True For Atilia, this concert is not merely an artistic project, but a heartfelt tribute to the person she loves most — her mother. 'This is a dream come true for me! Since I was a little girl, I wanted to be like my mother. Getting the chance to share such a great stage with her makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world!' Atilia shared with deep gratitude. Having witnessed her mother's musical journey from a young age, Atilia now sees this as a meaningful opportunity to express her love and appreciation directly, through the stage, and through song — with the most influential woman in her life. Raja Ahmad Shah said that the concert idea was always his sister's and she was also the biggest motivator in this project. "She always had this idea and she was really determined to making this dream project happen. I always loved the idea too. And it is indeed an honour for me to be involved in the project," said Raja Ahmad Shah. Two Generations, One Melody Of Love 'Konsert Gelombang Bahagiaku' does not just unite two voices with different musical backgrounds, but also bridges two worlds, two generations, and two souls that beat as one, through music. 'I'm very excited. Even though our singing styles differ, I believe it will be a truly special combination for the audience. This is the first time Atilia and I are sharing a large-scale stage, and I'm so grateful for this opportunity,' said Salamiah Hassan, who is celebrating her 55th anniversary in the music industry with this special project titled: 'Salamiah Hassan: #Legacy – Celebrating 55 Years in Music' "We promise it will be an exciting event for all to see and enjoy the music," added the 73-year-old Salamiah. Mother-Daughter Duet Debut – 'Age Is Just A Number' One of the most anticipated moments of the concert will be their first-ever duet, 'Age Is Just A Number', a new song delivering a positive message about life, maturity, and the courage to be oneself regardless of age. 'This song is a reflection of both of us — two independent women doing what we love with heart and a positive spirit,' Atilia explained. Happiness Is Vibing Together As the concert approaches, the moment Atilia most looks forward to is singing face-to-face with her mother on stage. 'I'm really looking forward to that magical moment when we sing together and look into each other's eyes on stage. I'm sure the audience will feel that magic too.' Salamiah hopes the audience will experience the mother-daughter bond, conveyed not just through their vocals, but through the heartfelt energy of two souls who love each other deeply. 'I'm blessed to share my love for music with my own daughter. We may be different, but our shared passion for art brings us even closer,' said an emotional Salamiah at the launching. Through Hardship & Joy, We Are One In bringing this concert to life, Atilia and her mother faced their fair share of challenges. But with shared spirit and belief, they pushed forward with their dream, starting from scratch with the help of close friends who believed in their mission. 'Of course there were challenges, but little by little, we made it happen. This concert had to be done. We only did what was necessary, supported by our friends. Alhamdulillah, there were people who believed and were willing to help,' Atilia said candidly. On top of that, the organisers also announced that singsing star Mimi Fly will kick off the show for the fans. Mimi, riding high in the charts with her new singles 'Serumpun' (this year's Hari Raya hit) and the hard-hitting 'Angkat' and 'Hey Lelaki' is also a close friend of family. She also works closely with Raja Ahmad Shah's recording outfit. "It will be an unforgettable night for all music lovers. That I can assure all music lovers. Both mom and daughter are amazing singers," said Mimi Fly. For Everyone Who Loves Music & Family 'Konsert Gelombang Bahagiaku' is expected to be an emotionally charged evening, full of beautiful memories and heartfelt performances. It is a gift for those who value family, unconditional love, and timeless music. 'I hope the audience is ready for something different, yet close to the heart. Expect great music, and may our songs touch everyone's soul. Thank you!' Atilia promised her fans. #SHOWBIZ: Iconic jingles, heartwarming PSA marked Atilia's entry into showbiz
KUALA LUMPUR: While veteran evergreen singer Salamiah Hassan is best known as the Queen of Jingles, her daughter Atilia Haron has also made her name in singing them. In fact, some of the country's best-known jingles of all time have Atilia's name written all over them, and these include the iconic jingles for Maggi instant noodles, KFC, Vitagen, and Fernleaf. "I was one of the kids who first sang the famous Maggi theme song, which goes 'Maggi Mee, fast to cook and good to eat'," said Atilia at the launch of Konsert Gelombang Bahagiaku in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre today. "I was about 5 when I first sang jingles, and the Maggi one was perhaps my debut. "As for the KFC one, which goes 'let's go to the zoo, there are lots of things to do', that happened when I was 12, likewise Fearnleaf, which had a cover of Tan Sri P. Ramlee's song Ibu." Atilia was encouraged by Salamiah to sing jingles that were tailor-made for youngsters, as she had shown an interest in music as a pre-teen. "Besides singing jingles, I also starred in the early 1980s' children's variety show Rasa Sayang, which was screened on public holidays such as National Day, and which famously featured a pre-teen Anuar Zain and Datuk Syafinaz Selamat," she said, adding that she did not know them back then. Atilia, 51, also starred in a heartwarming public service announcement (PSA) about road safety, which was accompanied by a melodious piano piece. "That PSA came when I was 9, and it showed me in school uniform walking safely along a pedestrian crossing while drivers stopped at the red light and smiled at me," she said, adding that the tagline for the PSA read "follow road safety rules, this girl may be your child". Atilia said that while her heydays in advertisements are now a thing of the past, she was happy that quite a few of her contemporaries remember her for them. "I may not be associated with jingles like my mum, and neither was I a child star like Anuar and Syafinaz. "Nevertheless, I am happy to have made my appearance in commercials and variety shows, as well as jingles for youngsters' products," she said. Gelombang Bahagiaku is Atilia's first concert with her mother, and it will take place at the Plenary Theatre of Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre at 8.30pm on Aug 16. The two-and-a-half-hour concert is organised by Mujik World Production and also features guest singers Loque of Monoloque and Mimifly.
