Governor slams violence against KP PPP workers
LAHORE: Slamming the violence against PPP workers during a peaceful protest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider said the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will pay dearly for its strategy of direct confrontation with the people. "Modi's historic humiliation and disgrace at the national and international levels will never be forgotten," the governor said, adding: "Everyone, including all political parties of the country, showed full solidarity with the Pakistan Army against India." During a meeting with a delegation from Wah Cantt at the Governor House, Lahore, the governor said that the success of operation 'Banyan Marsus' of the Pakistan Army against India under the leadership of the Army Chief is the guarantor of a safe Pakistan. He said that India's threat to weaponize water is utterly deplorable and poses a significant threat to regional stability. The governor said that India will think a hundred times before committing any aggression and provocation against Pakistan again. He said that for the integrity and sovereignty of the country all the political parties of the country showed full solidarity with the Pakistan Army. He further said that the Pakistan People's Party is gaining popularity not only in Punjab but also across the country. He said that the Pakistan People's Party will give tough time to the rival parties in the upcoming general elections. Governor Punjab praises Tara Group chief
LAHORE: Governor Punjab, Sardar Saleem Haider, has assured that input from private institutions and industrialists will be welcomed at all levels to advance the development of the agricultural sector. He made these remarks during a recent meeting with renowned agricultural scientist and Chairman of Tara Group, Dr. Khalid Hameed. The Governor praised Dr. Khalid Hameed for his contributions to the agricultural sector, particularly his research on high-yielding and improved seed varieties. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Khalid Hameed emphasized that meaningful progress in agriculture requires strong collaboration between the government and the private sector. He noted that farmers are currently facing significant difficulties — on one hand, due to the lack of government-level wheat procurement and the absence of a fixed support price, and on the other, because of the ongoing challenges in the cotton sector. Uplift of industry indispensable: Governor
LAHORE: Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider said on Sunday that development of industry and trade is indispensable for the country's stability. Terming the Pahalgam incident as nothing but a drama, the governor said that India is unable to reconcile with Pakistan's rapid progress. 'Pakistan has the full capacity to respond to every Indian adventure,' he said while sharing his views during a visit to a tractor manufacturing company in Sheikhupura. The governor said that it is a very gratifying thing that the automobile and motorcycle industry is developing rapidly in Pakistan. The present government is paying special attention to electric vehicles and motorcycles, he said. He said that our young generation is showing its mettle in every field including modern technology. He added that the PPP has always stood by the poor and working class. He further said that thanks to the Pakistan Army, the law and order situation in the country is satisfactory. He said that the international community should take notice of the Pahalgam incident. Urdu, Bangla varsity chairs urged
Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has stressed the need of setting up Urdu language chairs in Bangladeshi universities and Bangla chairs in Pakistan for better understanding among the countries. Speaking to a 10-member media delegation from Bangladesh that called on him, the governor expressed hope that new vistas of cooperation would open under the interim government in Bangladesh. The delegation invited Governor Saleem Haider to visit Bangladesh. The Bangladeshi journalists also visited the National College of Arts (NCA) and Lahore Museum. NCA Vice Chancellor Dr Murtaza Jafri discussed with the delegation cultural and artistic exchanges between the two countries. Lahore Museum Deputy Director Asim Rizwan briefed the journalists on the collections, particularly those representing the Gandhara and Indus Valley civilisations, Harappa and Mohenjo Daro. The visitors were taken on a tour of the Gandhara, Jain Temple, Contemporary Paintings, Prehistoric and Industrial, and the Muslim Art and Heritage galleries. They observed rare bronze artifacts from Harappa and Mohenjo Daro, weights and bullock carts from ancient settlements and seals from the Indus Valley civilisation. The delegation had earlier spent four days in Islamabad.

Male professors to be removed from women's universities in Punjab
Listen to article The Punjab government has decided to remove male professors and teachers from women's universities across the province to prevent harassment and safeguard female students. Governor Sardar Saleem Haider announced the decision while speaking to the media, stating that strict punishments would be enforced against individuals involved in harassment at educational institutions. In addition to removing male staff, the governor revealed that the system for preparing and checking examination papers would be overhauled to protect female students from blackmail and harassment. 'All university administrations have been directed to implement the new system,' Haider said, adding that performance evaluation forms will be distributed to vice-chancellors and professors. Future rewards and punishments will be based on these assessments. Last month, while launching the Honhaar Scholarship Programme for Gujranwala division by distributing cheques among the 10 top students at Government College Women University (GCWU) Sialkot, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced that all students with more than 65% marks will be provided laptops." A guard of honour was presented to the students by contingent of Punjab Police. The chief minister announced that the Punjab government would take responsibility for the cancer treatment of a female student's mother. Under the scheme, 1,947 students of Gujranwala division will get scholarships worth Rs89.8 million, including 1,276 students of government universities receiving Rs58.5 million, 481 students of colleges Rs13.2 million, 112 students of private institutions and 78 of medical colleges. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said on the occasion that she had directed the authorities concerned to increase the number of Honhaar scholarships to 50,000 in next year's budget. She said 30,000 scholarships were being given to children but there should be more. She said public money should be spent on their welfare. She added, "Very soon, second and third year students will also get meritorious scholarships."
