Amazon Flex delivery driver has car stolen while dropping off packages in North Austin
The Brief An Amazon Flex delivery driver said her car was stolen while she was dropping off packages The thief is now using the woman's EBT card that was left inside the car Amazon responded to the incident AUSTIN, Texas - An Amazon Flex delivery driver said her car was stolen while she was dropping off packages. Local perspective Stephanie Board was delivering packages for Amazon early Sunday morning. "I took the route that was from 3:15 a.m all the way until like seven o'clock, and I was almost done, so I was excited when I was on my route because I was like, ok, it's about 6:30-ish, I'm almost done. So here I am just determined to get it done and get back to my kids," delivery driver Stephanie Board said. She said she pulled up to a home in the Quail Creek Neighborhood in North Austin, her car was still running. "I'm just thinking, you know, I'm going to hop in and out real quickly," Board said. Board said she grabbed the package out of her car, walked to the front door, dropped it off, and scanned it. When she turned around, Board said, "I look up and I see a guy that I've never seen before. He hops out of a Mercedes, I think it was, and he gets into the driver's side of my car." Board said she tried to stop the man. "I kind of try to get in front of him to stop him from taking the vehicle, but he still goes around and leaves in the vehicle," Board said. She said it felt like a movie. "Panicking, nervous, just disbelief and distraught that something like this was happening," Board said. Apparently, her car had all of her personal items inside, including her credit, debit, and social security cards. "I see that they are currently using my EBT card. They were at the local Sam's that was out south, and it looks like they were at some supermarkets here in the East Austin area, so they're all over Austin, so you might want to just be mindful," Board said. Board and her son have a message to whoever is behind this. "Just do the right thing and return the car because you've taken away from a mother that's trying to support her kids and have a survival for them and stable living," Board said. "I would just like for the person to just give us our car," Board's son, Demarion Ewing said. What they're saying Amazon spokesperson Steve Kelly released a statement on the incident: "Our team has reached out to Ms. Board to offer support and assistance relating to this unfortunate incident. Safety is our top priority, which is why we continue to innovate and invest in comprehensive safety measures that help keep Amazon Flex delivery partners and the communities they serve safe. In addition to contacting law enforcement, Amazon's 24/7 Emergency Assistance Helpline stands ready to provide support to delivery partners if unexpected situations arise." Amazon does provide various forms of assistance when situations arise, including filing insurance claims to help drivers and pay for missed delivery blocks. Here's How Much Sam's Club Customers Buy When They Order Pizza Delivery
You can order pizza delivery from Sam's Club. The people who do are getting it with more than just toppings, loading up carts to the tune of triple-digit dollars. Sam's, the warehouse operation run by Walmart (WMT), in May said delivery of its Member's Mark pizzas—a hot 16-inch version costs about $9—would be available nationwide by the end of the month. Members can schedule a window or pay up for "express" delivery within three hours. Those pizza orders are turning into wins for Sam's, Walmart CFO John David Rainey said Tuesday. "You may hear that and think, 'Gosh, that can't be very economical for you to deliver a pizza to someone from a club,'" Rainey said at a conference, a transcript of which was made available by AlphaSense. "Here's the thing: The average basket size of a pizza delivery is over $100." Pizza is a competitive business, with entrants coming not only from the kind of places you might think—pizza chains, grocery stores selling frozen and other varieties—but also places like Casey's General Stores (CASY), which is currently promoting a BBQ brisket variety, and Costco (COST), which sells take-and-bake pies along with slices for snacking shoppers. For Sam's, which accounted for about 16% of Walmart's U.S. revenue in its last full year, the pies are driving sales of other, non-pizza, goods. (The company is seeing a similar effect with rotisserie chickens, executives have said.) "Members are taking advantage of the broad assortment that we have, and while we are getting a pizza delivered, providing general merchandise or other items to go along with that, which makes that eCommerce delivery very attractive from an economic perspective for us," Rainey said. Sam's Club deals where you pay a reduced first-year fee and get a gift card to pop up from time to time. The warehouse club also offers one regular discount membership. The chain shared the details on its website. "Sam's Club wants to give back to seniors, 50 years or older by offering seniors a special membership offer. Woman banned from Walmart said she stole meat to feed kids
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman who says she tried to steal meat from a Walmart in Paragould, Arkansas, to feed her five children has been sentenced to 36 months of probation. Latisha Davis was already banned from Walmart when she was caught shoplifting at the supercenter on West Kingshighway last October. The arrest came just three months after the Trumann woman was accused of leaving three of her kids, ages 1, 3, and 15, inside a hot house without food. Mom accused of leaving 3 kids alone in hot house Body cam footage showed an officer finding only milk in the fridge. Trumann police said the temperature inside the home on Mildred Avenue was over 90 degrees. Body camera footage shows kids left alone in hot house pleading for help Davis pleaded guilty to one count of child endangerment in that case and received 48 months of supervised probation. At the time of her arrest, the children's father was given temporary custody of the kids. It's not clear who has them now. Paragould police said Davis told them she knew she had been banned from all Walmart locations when she tried to hide food items in cardboard boxes to take out of the store. Investigators said when they asked her why she needed to steal 'all that meat,' she said she had five kids to feed and times had been hard. Davis isn't the first person in the Mid-South recently banned from Walmart stores nationwide. Alleged serial shoplifter banned from every Walmart in the USA Ashley Cross, 37, was arrested earlier this month after she allegedly tried to steal $137.34 worth of items in the self-checkout line at the Walmart on Elvis Presley Boulevard in Memphis. Police said Cross was on an 'Authorization of Agency list' and was not allowed at any Walmart in the United States due to her previous shoplifting encounters. Terry Brown, 48, was also banned from Walmart and Sam's Club in November of 2024. Police said Brown was arrested on Feb. 6 for trespassing after he entered the Walmart on Austin Peay Highway. Store employees said Brown signed a notification of restriction from the property, acknowledging that he was permanently banned from all Walmart and Sam's locations. It does appear Brown was charged with anything. Cross next court date is Feb. 27. WREG contacted Walmart to find out what it takes for someone to be banned from all their stores, but we have not received a response. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
