Brit tourist fighting for life after being 'stabbed and hurled from car'
A British man is fighting for his life after being attacked in Pattaya, Thailand, by three people who threw him from a car and left him for dead, bloodied and injured Police are hunting mystery attackers who allegedly stabbed a British tourist and hurled him from a car, leaving him fighting for his life. The British man was reportedly with three other people, including a Thai woman, in a white Toyota Veloz which stopped in a car park in Pattaya, Thailand, last night. The Brit was already covered in blood when the driver dragged him out of the backseat and dumped him onto the pavement. Despite being weak and injured, the driver allegedly stabbed him with a knife before the group fled the scene. Shocked local Sayan Samanmit, 49, a taxi driver who was waiting for passengers at the scene when it happened, immediately called the police. Footage showed the still-conscious man lying on the ground while paramedics tended to his wounds. His injuries were so deep blood was still flowing through the thick bandage emergency responders put on. The left side of his face sustained a deep 10cm gash, while his chest and abdomen were slashed so severely internal fat protruded. He was given first aid treatment before being taken to Pattaya Pathomkhun Hospital where he is in intensive care. Onlooker Sayan said: "A white Toyota Veloz drove into the parking lot. Two foreign men and one woman got out of the car. "I heard shouting and then the car sped away. The foreign man was lying on the ground in pain." Sayan added he was scared for his life, so he did not interfere, but he was able to take a picture of the assailant's car and plate number. Police Lieutenant Colonel Suthiraphan Tapsri said: 'We are urgently working on intercepting the car. It fled on Pattaya South Road, but there is still no sign of the perpetrator. "The British man is still unable to give a statement. Our initial investigation shows he knew the attackers, and an argument could have led to the attack." Officers are currently reviewing CCTV in the area to trace the car that the alleged attackers used to escape. The humid coastal area of Pattaya became popular with American troops on 'rest and relaxation' breaks in the 1950s and 1960s when the US military had bases in Thailand while fighting Communism in Vietnam.

Bangladeshi national who entered TN illegally in 2001 voted in three polls, held
TIRUPPUR: A Bangladeshi national who illegally entered India over two decades ago, married the daughter of a retired Tamil Nadu police officer, and managed to obtain identity documents and vote in three elections, was arrested by Tiruppur district police in Palladam on Thursday. The suspect was identified as M Sayan (41), currently residing in Karaipudur in Tiruppur. According to police sources, Sayan crossed the India-Bangladesh border by foot in 2001 and initially worked as a tailor in Chennai. He later married Geetha, daughter of a retired sub-inspector, and settled in Tiruppur. Sayan purchased three cents of land in Karaipudur in his wife's name in 2017 and took a loan of Rs 43 lakh from a private finance firm to build a four-storey building, which he rented out, police said. The case came to light on April 30 when the finance firm sealed the building for defaulting on EMI payments. Based on a complaint, the district police and intelligence agencies launched an inquiry. 'During the inquiry, it was revealed that Sayan had entered the country illegally and had procured a PAN card, Aadhaar, driving licence, and a voter ID. He obtained a passport in 2019 and visited Bangladesh three times. He even voted in three elections,' said a senior official. Although Sayan has been married to an Indian citizen, he was arrested for illegal entry and is currently lodged in Puzhal prison. He may apply for Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) status following deportation. 'Preliminary inquiry shows he has no links with any banned organisation,' said Tiruppur SP Yadav Girish.
