Kendrick Lamar Adds New Australian Shows With Doechii as Support
Kendrick Lamar is expanding his upcoming run of Australian shows, announcing second stadium dates in both Melbourne and Sydney for his 2025 Grand National Tour. The Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper will now perform two nights at Melbourne's AAMI Park (Dec. 3 and Dec. 4) and Sydney's Allianz Stadium (Dec. 10 and Dec. 11), Live Nation confirmed on Tuesday (Aug. 6). The newly added shows will see fellow U.S. artist and Spilt Milk festival alum Doechii join Lamar as support, while original opener ScHoolboy Q will continue in his slot for the first night in each city. His return comes off the back of a dominant start to 2025, with his viral diss track 'Not Like Us' becoming the longest-running No. 1 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and spending multiple weeks at No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. Lamar held three songs in the ARIA Top 10 — 'Not Like Us,' 'Luther,' and 'All the Stars' — reflecting his sustained commercial and cultural impact in the region. Lamar's Australian fanbase has remained strong since his early good kid, m.A.A.d city era, and his 2025 chart success has further amplified interest in his long-awaited return. Industry observers point to a record-breaking run of sold-out shows across North America and Europe. In February, Lamar swept five awards at the 2025 Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for 'Not Like Us.' He also delivered one of the most talked-about performances at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, cementing his place as a defining live performer of his generation. The newly announced Australian shows will cap off an extensive international leg that includes dates in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Colombia throughout September and October, alongside festival appearances. Lamar and Doechii are also set to appear on the 2025 Spilt Milk Festival lineup, performing in Canberra, Ballarat, Perth and the Gold Coast across late November and early December. Presented by Live Nation and pgLang, the Grand National Tour is one of the biggest global touring projects of the year, with an emphasis on high production value, political messaging, and artistic direction that blends music, visuals, and choreography into a multi-layered experience. Tickets for the new Melbourne and Sydney dates go on general sale at 1 p.m. AEST on Monday, Aug. 11 (Melbourne) and 2 p.m. AEST (Sydney) via A 48-hour Vodafone pre-sale begins on Thursday, Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. for Melbourne and 12 p.m. for Sydney. Tyler, the Creator releases new album, ‘Don't Tap the Glass'
Tyler, the Creator has been busy. The Los Angeles rapper early Monday released 'Don't Tap the Glass,' his second LP to drop in less than nine months. The new 10-track project closely follows 'Chromakopia,' which came out in October, just before Tyler's annual Camp Flog Gnaw festival at Dodger Stadium, where he performed songs from the album including 'Noid' and 'Sticky' and welcomed cameos by Sexyy Red, Doechii and ScHoolboy Q. In February, Tyler set out on a world tour behind 'Chromakopia' that touched down for a six-night stay at Arena and stopped last week in New York for shows at Madison Square Garden and the Barclays Center. According to album credits on Apple Music, 'Don't Tap the Glass' — which features no officially billed guest appearances — was produced by Tyler himself; the album has a funky, club-geared sound full of old-school stylistic touches. In a post on X, Tyler said the LP grew out of a conversation he had with friends about why they don't dance in public. His friends, he said, blamed 'the fear of being filmed.' He added: 'I thought damn, a natural form of expression and a certain connection they have with music is now a ghost. It made me wonder how much of our human spirit got killed because of the fear of being a meme.' 'This album was not made for sitting still,' Tyler wrote. 'Dancing driving running any type of movement is recommended to maybe understand the spirit of it.'

Coco Gauff Is the 2025 French Open Women's Singles Champion
On Saturday, June 7, Coco Gauff took home her second Grand Slam title, winning the 2025 French Open against world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka with a final score of 6(5)-7(7), 6-2, 6-4 at Roland Garros. Gauff also won the U.S. Open in 2023. It was an emotional moment for the tennis champion, who celebrated on the court before running to her mother and father, Candi and Corey Gauff, who were watching in the audience. After receiving her trophy, Gauff was interviewed by Sloane Stephens, where she praised her family for keeping 'her grounded.' 'You guys keep me grounded and give me the belief,' she said. 'Thanks, and I love you guys. To my brothers at home, you are the reason I do this, and you inspire me more than you know.' She continued, 'Thanks to everyone who made this tournament happen, and thanks to you guys! You really helped me today, you were cheering for me so hard. I'm not sure what I do to deserve so much love from the French crowd but merci beaucoup.' Gauff finished out her speech with a reference to rapper Tyler the Creator. 'Honestly, I didn't think I could do it, but I'm going to quote Tyler the Creator right here and he said 'If I ever told you I had a doubt inside me, I must be lying,'' she said. 'I was lying to myself, so thanks to Tyler, and thanks to you guys.' In October 2024, Tyler actually threw in a reference to Gauff on his album CHROMAKOPIA in the track 'Thought I Was Dead' with ScHoolboy Q and Santigold, saying in the lyrics, 'You ain't Coco Gauff, you can't serve me.' Gauff reacted to the song at the time on TikTok, saying, 'Biased opinion: it's fire. Unbiased opinion: it's fire. Anyways, don't take my word for it, go listen for yourself.'

AZ Chike Wants To Collect 'West Coast Infinity Stones'
AZ Chike is 'one of them ones,' and when listening to his music, he knows it. The Los Angeles-bred rapper is rapidly rising after a breakout 2024 with an alley-oop from Kendrick Lamar after delivering a standout feature on the chart-topping GNX album. While the moment catalyzes his rap career, the Warner Records signee is not new to the game or even to mainstream rap features, as he was featured on ScHoolboy Q's 2024 Blue Lips album, signifying his support from Hip-Hop veterans. Now, as his star power expands, AZ Chike hopes to keep collecting 'West Coast Infinity Stones.' Being supported by the aforementioned Black Hippy members is seemingly fate for the 'What X2' performer — who shares with VIBE that he was given a figurative stamp in the womb from DJ Quik — as he explains his desire to link up with some of the industry's biggest pioneers from the Golden State, also naming Ice Cube, and Dr. Dre. 'The thing with DJ Quik is, my mama put me on all the gangsta sh*t growing up. She was like a dope girl in the '90s,' he explains. 'DJ Quik was one of her favorite artists. She went to one of his shows, and I don't think he ended up performing in the venue or something. Long story short, he hopped and started performing on top of the limo. At the time, she's pregnant with me. He's rapping, and he rubs her stomach while she's pregnant with me. I haven't been able to tell him that. But my manager sent me a video of him recording himself when Kendrick was performing 'Peek-A-Boo' at the Super Bowl, and it was like a full circle moment.' Further in the conversation, the rising rapper added the names of additional artists outside of California Hip-Hop with whom he'd like to connect creatively. 'Future for sure,' exclaims the 29-year-old. 'Teddy Swims, for sure. Oh, man. I like Smino a lot, too. His sh*t is very cold and he can rap. He can rap. Doechii, for sure.' AZ Chike's horizon continues to expand as he recalls, 'I got to get some UK artists in there too. I think Dave is dope from the UK…and honorable mention EST Gee, his sh*t got me in a chokehold right now.' Still, the 'Big Dawg' rapper remains loyal to his home turf, and makes it clear when explaining the unreleased snippet heard at the end of the 'Whatx2' music video. 'It was a flare being shot in the air,' AZ Chike declares. 'I wouldn't even say a fair warning because I'm not here to play fair.' He continues to boast, 'But it goes for everybody. Anybody who got something to say about what's going on now for the West Coast, just tread lightly.' Check out more from VIBE's interview with AZ Chike below.
