Mumtaz steers clear on reports of catfights with Sharmila Tagore, speaks about Dilip Kumar, Madhubala's incomplete love story: 'I don't blame Yusuf Sahab also, she was dying'
Mumtaz made an amazing on-screen pair with Rajesh Khanna and another actress whose on-screen pairing with Khanna was hugely loved was Sharmila Tagore . Thus, there were several reports of catfights between Mumtaz and Sharmila. People said that they did not get along with each other. Mumtaz has steered clear on this. In a recent interview, she clearly spoke about Tagore. She said in an interview with Filmybeat, "Main Sharmila Tagore ko mili hi nahi hu. Aap bechari Sharmila aur Mumtaz ke peeche joh pade hai. I want to ask everyone who wrote these things that aapko aisa kaunsa mauqa mila tha jisse aapko lagaa unki banti nahi thi. Whenever we meet, we say, 'Hello How are you?' Main jaati nahi hu har party mein. I would request people who say all this, why do you say Mumtaz and Sharmila didn't get along? Show me one reason. Sab jhooth bolte hai. (I had never met Sharmila earlier. Now we rarely see each other at some event and we greet each other. I want to ask people who wrote all these things that please give me one single reason that made you feel that Mumtaz and Sharmila didn't get along. What made you write all this?)" Mumtaz was very close to Madhubala and she was a little girl when she would visit her. Madhubala passed away very soon due to which her love story with Dilip Kumar was left incomplete. When asked about the one the thing she learnt from her and when asked about her incomplete love story, Mumtaz said, "I don't blame Yusuf Sahab also, she was dying. Pyaar mohabbat toh kitne logon ke saath hota hai but zaruri nahi ke unse shadi ho jaaye. Uss wakhat heart problem ka koi solution nahi tha." She added, "Main bohot chhoti thi toh kya seekhti. Magar itna zaroor unhone kahaa tha. Zindagi mein sabse buri cheez hoti hai woh mohabbat hoti hai. Karo par itna na karo ke bechain ho jaao. Chhodne ki bhi taakat honi chahiye. She told me to be careful. Pyaar karo ek hadd mein karo warna dukh hota hai. (She told me not to love someone so much that you cannot stay without that. Love is a bad thing. You should also have the capability to leave someone if need be). " That's what Mumtaz did. The actress admitted to choosing her career over Shammi Kapoor as his family didn't allow women to work after marriage. She said, "I was more in love with my career. If I decide to do something i do it. So, I sacrificed my love for my career. But I didn't do wrong." YS Sharmila slams BJP over privatisation plans for Vizag Steel Plant
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President YS Sharmila has criticised the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led Andhra Pradesh government for allegedly making decisions to "privatise" the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP). The APCC Chief said that Congress condemned the decision of the Centre, asserting that the party would "fight to the death" if it came to saving the Visakha steel. Speaking to ANI on Thursday, YS Sharmila said, "Yesterday, on behalf of the Congress party, I, the party President of Andhra Pradesh, was there at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant for an indefinite strike because 2000 employees of the plant were terminated without a cause or reason. Most of the 2000 people who were terminated from the plant are people who happened to have given their land for the construction of the plant." The APCC Chief claimed that the BJP "deliberately" wants the plant to run into losses in order to privatise it. "If the project stands today, it is because many people like them donated land to the Vishakhapatnam Steel. Today, the BJP deliberately wants Visakhapatnam Steel to run into losses so that they can privatise it and give it to people like Adani. The Congress party is against this. Yesterday, we were there, demanding that all 2000 people be reinstated. Today, we held a press meeting in Vijayawada to question the state government as to why they are extending support for this move by the central government," YS Sharmila said. "In 2021, the BJP announced that they are willing to privatise Visakha Steel, they have not gone back on that. In a recent statement, the Centre government clarified that the decision remains. The Congress party seriously condemns this and stands against it, and we will fight to the death, if it comes to that, for saving the Visakha steel," she said. Sharmila on Wednesday sat on a hunger strike in support of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) workers. She alleged that around 2,000 contract workers were dismissed without proper procedure or justification. She further claimed that until 2014, the VSP was a profitable enterprise, generating Rs 1,000 crore in profit, but it now faces a debt of Rs 28,000 crore. Speaking to reporters, the Congress leader said, "Andhra Pradesh Congress is here in Visakhapatnam Steel. We are going on an indefinite hunger strike because the management of VSP has terminated 2000 employees without any cause or proper procedure. The reason behind this is to kill this plant... Until 2014, this plant yielded a profit of Rs 1000 crores, but now, it stands on a debt of Rs 28000 crores... "Will fight to death to save it": YS Sharmila accuses BJP of privatising Visakhapatnam Steel Plant
Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], May 23 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President YS Sharmila has criticised the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led Andhra Pradesh government for allegedly making decisions to 'privatise' the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP). BJP government killing Vizag steel plant silently, alleges APCC president YS Sharmila
VIJAYAWADA: APCC chief YS Sharmila Reddy accused the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre of systematically undermining Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), established by the Congress government, which was once a profit-making entity. Sharmila, who staged a hunger strike at VSP in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, alleged that the BJP was employing a 'silent killing' strategy to weaken the steel plant, likening it to the proverb of driving a dog mad to justify its killing. She claimed that the government was deliberately starving the plant of raw materials, raising export prices to burden it, and denying it a dedicated iron ore mine, despite Congress' earlier plans to provide one. The APCC chief denounced the government's claim of rescuing the plant with Rs 11,000 crore as a falsehood, alleging that Rs 8,000 crore was reclaimed as bank loans, and the remaining Rs 3,000 crore was tied to a condition to lay off 5,000 workers. Already, 2,000 workers have been sacked, with plans to remove 3,000 more, reducing the workforce from 34,000 to half, she charged.
