Animal Friends Release Date Delayed for Ryan Reynolds & Jason Momoa Movie
The release date for the live-action hybrid road trip adventure Animal Friends, featuring Ryan Reynolds and Jason Momoa, has been delayed for several months. A Legendary, Maximum Effort, and Prime Focus Studios production, it was originally slated to come out through Sony Pictures but later shifted to Warner Bros. as part of the deal the company made with Legendary. Animal Friends will now release in US theaters on May 1, 2026, nearly seven months after its previously announced premiere date, October 10, 2025. Besides Reynolds and Momoa, the cast of Animal Friends includes Aubrey Plaza, Addison Rae, Dan Levy, Lil Rel Howery, and Ellie Bamber. Peter Atencio directed the feature from a script by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider. This is not the first time that Animal Friends has suffered a delay in its release. Sony Pictures initially set its release date for August 15, 2025. However, Warner Bros. then acquired the distribution rights for the movie and changed it to October 10. Animal Friends was described as an 'R-rated road trip adventure' when it was announced in April 2023. Production reportedly began in June 2023 and concluded in April 2024. Notably, Maximum Effort is a production company that Reynolds co-founded. Some of the projects they have produced are Deadpool 2 (2018), Free Guy (2021), Shotgun Wedding (2022), and Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). Meanwhile, filmmaker and producer Namit Malhotra founded Prime Focus Media. Their upcoming projects include Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, and The Angry Birds Movie 3. DNEG, noted for their work on Nimona (2023) and Dune: Part Two (2024), is handling the animation and visual effects on Animal Friends. Peter Atencio previously directed action comedy movies Keanu (2016) and The Machine (2023). Burrows and Mider were the creators of the GQ original animated series Gentlemen Lobsters. Among them are Josh Duhamel and his wife Audra Mari, who is 21 years younger than the Shotgun Wedding star. Speaking of their connection in a new interview, Duhamel admitted that even he was taken aback by their age difference when they first started dating. In a new appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Duhamel admitted that he and Mari didn't take things to the romantic side for years, partly because of their ages. 'It was truly platonic for years before that because, 'Nah, she's too young for me. I'm not even gonna go there,'' Duhamel said. One day, things then went a step further when he invited her to a party at his home. 'I invited her to a barbecue, still thinking it was totally platonic,' he said. 'Just as a friend from NoDak, they're aren't many people from there.' But when Mari arrived, Duhamel was in awe. 'She did come and I saw her and I was like 'Holy s–, this girl is beautiful,'' she said of his first impression. 'She's too young, I can't do it, but she's more mature than I am,' he continued. 'That's really how we started dating and it's been a beautiful thing.' Duhamel and Mari, who met in 2019, tied the knot on September 10, 2022. In January 2024, they welcomed their first son together, Shepherd. Duhamel also shares son Axl Jack Duhamel with ex-wife Fergie. Ransom Canyon star Josh Duhamel, 52, addresses 21-year age gap with wife
Josh Duhamel is explaining how he ended up married to a woman 21 years his junior. While appearing on Amanda Hirsch's Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast recently, the 52-year-old actor — who was previously married to Fergie — said he initially hesitated to get romantically involved with his wife Audra Mari, 31. 'It was truly platonic for years,' the father-of-two said, sharing that he thought 'I'm not even going to go there' when he first met the former pageant queen. The two bonded over both being from North Dakota and he eventually invited her to a barbecue, 'still thinking it was totally platonic, just as a friend from NoDak.' 'There aren't many people from there,' he noted about their home state connection. Duhamel told Hirsch they started dating when he realized 'she's more mature than I am.' Now the two lovebirds are parents to 16-month-old son Shepherd. Josh also shares 11-year-old son Axl with 50-year-old pop star Fergie, to whom he was married from 2009 until their separation in 2017. The music artist filed for divorce in May 2019, two years after their separation was announced. The divorce was finalized on November 22, 2019. When he and new wife Audra announced that they were expecting their first child back in September 2023, the Black Eyed Peas singer was quick to show support.
