Ransom Canyon star Josh Duhamel, 52, addresses 21-year age gap with wife
While appearing on Amanda Hirsch's Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast recently, the 52-year-old actor — who was previously married to Fergie — said he initially hesitated to get romantically involved with his wife Audra Mari, 31.
'It was truly platonic for years,' the father-of-two said, sharing that he thought 'I'm not even going to go there' when he first met the former pageant queen.
The two bonded over both being from North Dakota and he eventually invited her to a barbecue, 'still thinking it was totally platonic, just as a friend from NoDak.'
'There aren't many people from there,' he noted about their home state connection.
Duhamel told Hirsch they started dating when he realized 'she's more mature than I am.'
Now the two lovebirds are parents to 16-month-old son Shepherd.
Josh also shares 11-year-old son Axl with 50-year-old pop star Fergie, to whom he was married from 2009 until their separation in 2017. The music artist filed for divorce in May 2019, two years after their separation was announced. The divorce was finalized on November 22, 2019.
When he and new wife Audra announced that they were expecting their first child back in September 2023, the Black Eyed Peas singer was quick to show support.
Commenting on Audra's Instagram post at the time, she wrote, 'I am truly happy for you guys. Axl can't wait to be a big brother.'
Duhamel and Mari tied the knot in September 2022 in Fargo, North Dakota.
They had gotten engaged months earlier in January, with the actor sharing the news on social media.
'It's on!! She found a message in a bottle that washed ashore and said YES!! @audramari,' he wrote at the time.
Inside the bottle was a handwritten letter that read: 'Audra Diane Mari Will You Marry Me?'
They were first seen together in October 2019 when they were spotted kissing in Toronto.
Josh opened up in an In Depth With Graham Bensinger interview in October 2023 and explained why things didn't work out with his ex-wife Fergie.
He said he and the singer simply grew apart: 'I think we kind of outgrew each other and had very different interests.'
The actor added in the sit-down conversation, 'I made peace with that part of my life. She and I have a great relationship, both raising that boy together. There wasn't anything wrong with [the marriage]. We had a great time.'
The Shotgun Wedding star detailed further: 'The older I got, the more I wanted to come out [to North Dakota]. This is not for her. But I've got no hard feelings…I'm very lucky that she's a kind human. I really am.'
Bringing up his wife, he said, 'That's why Audra's so great for me. We're both hardcore North Dakotans…We both love lake life. We both love family. We both love kids.'

Tennis star Leylah Fernandez has told fans to directly message her on Instagram if they wish to take the 22-year-old Canadian player on a date. Fernandez, currently ranked world No.36, says she is 'not a big fan of dating apps' and has encouraged her followers to slide into her DMs. The 2021 US Open finalist has landed three trophies on the WTA Tour to date, winning the Monterrey Open twice as well as the Hong Kong Open. Fernandez has earned a total of $6,550,409 in prize money and also reached the final of the Eastbourne International in the UK last year. Her career-high ranking so far is world No.13 and she played a huge role in Canada's first-ever Billie Jean King Cup triumph in 2023. The singleton is seeking a romantic partner – and has offered fans the chance to take her out on a date in her home town of Montreal when the Canadian Open gets underway from July 28 to August 4. Speaking in a video on her Instagram page, Fernandez said: 'Hey guys. You know what I really wanna do that I haven't done is going on a date. 'I'm not a big fan of dating apps so I'm actually going to do things my own way. 'I'm going to go on one date for one hour in Montreal. So if you want to be my date, DM me, let me know about yourself and see you there. See ya!' In her Instagram caption, Fernandez wrote: 'This will be fun, right? This isn't a joke. I fully intend to go on a date in Montreal so go ahead and DM me… time to shoot your shot. 'PS: you may have to meet my dad beforehand (good luck with that).' Fernandez is currently in action at the Washington Open and reached the quarter-finals on Thursday with a brilliant win over Jessica Pegula. The Canadian stunned the American top seed 6-3 1-6 7-5 to set up a clash against Taylor Townsend in the last eight. Fernandez is currently getting ready for the fourth Grand Slam tournament of the year – the US Open – which gets underway in New York next month. She was a runner-up at Flushing Meadows four years ago, missing out on the title to British star Emma Raducanu. Speaking in her on-court interview after her victory against world No.4 Pegula, Fernandez said: 'In the beginning of the third set, I didn't [make] many adjustments. More Trending 'When I went to wipe off some sweat, my coach was telling me to stay positive, to think of something positive, to switch the mentality. It helped.' Meanwhile, Raducanu is also in action at the Washington Open and conjured up an impressive win over Japan's Naomi Osaka on Thursday. Raducanu defeated the four-time Grand Slam champion 6-4 6-2 to set up a quarter-final showdown with Greek star Maria Sakkari. The result means Raducanu will reclaim the British No.1 ranking, moving past Katie Boulter. Viral post claims an influencer left a restaurant crying. Now the California establishment has temporarily closed amid backlash
A Bay Area restaurant has temporarily closed its doors after a dispute between its award-winning chef and a food influencer ended with the woman leaving in tears and the cook being out of a job. Chef Luke Sung opened Kis Cafe along Hayes Street in San Francisco in April alongside partner Eric Lin. Three months on, a press release from the restaurant announced that Sung has left the business and that it would be 'closing soon and restructuring after these events.' 'Our chef's behavior was unacceptable and he is no longer part of the team as a co-owner, a chef, or in any other way,' the restaurant wrote in a statement on Instagram on Thursday evening. 'That behavior does not reflect the remainder of our team. We want to create a space that's welcoming and respectful to everyone. In this instance, we failed to do so.' Seemingly part of a publicity push, the restaurant reportedly partnered with a self-described micro-influencer known only as Karla, offering free meals in exchange for a TikTok post. In a video posted Tuesday under her handle @itskarlabb, the woman claimed that Sung dismissed her because her 15,000 followers weren't enough to represent his establishment. 'He was saying I had too little followers,' Karla recalled overhearing while sitting at the bar, awaiting her husband. 'I am turning red because I am so embarrassed, and I feel really disrespected.' After introducing himself, the TikToker alleged Sung insinuated that her followers couldn't afford to dine out at his restaurant. 'He goes on to say that my audience and my followers are not the kind of people that are going to be at his restaurant,' she continued. 'Do you know who I am?' said Sung, a two-time James Beard nominee, according to the influencer. Sung allegedly criticised the quality of Karla's videos and made insulting remarks before she agreed to leave. 'At this point I'm crying, and I want to get out, so I tell him that I'm no longer interested in doing the collab',' the influencer said. 'I tell him that I felt disrespected because they were talking about me right in front of me and belittling my work.' Reflecting on the incident, Karla called the collaboration a 'mistake.' Kis Cafe said that Sung had reached out to the influencer to apologise, and since posting a video about the exchange this week, she has gained more than 185,000 followers. On Thursday, the woman posted an update to her TikTok account, saying she woke up to a wave of new followers and supportive messages. 'I woke up today to the most supportive and kind and genuine and encouraging comments and messages,' she said. 'I could not be more grateful and shocked at how much empathy you guys have toward basically a stranger on the internet.' Since the incident, Kis Cafe's Yelp rating has dropped to below two stars, while Google Reviews has temporarily disabled its review section.

I went to the little-known roadside diner that feels like being in Stranger Things – the food takes you back in time
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) STEPPING into the diner, a warm glow of burnt oranges, rustic reds and mellow yellows surrounded me, along with 70s-style decor of rattan lampshades with giant globe bulbs. It really did feel like entering the set of Netflix's hit TV show Stranger Things - yet I was actually in a roadside cafe in the UK. 10 Brightside diner features a 70s interior like it is part of the set for Stranger Things Credit: Cyann Fielding 10 Inside, there are warm oranges, yellows and reds as well as rattan lampshades Credit: Instagram 10 The menu offers a wide choice of pizzas, burgers, sandwiches and more Credit: Instagram Brightside in Exeter, Devon, feels like a retro Little Chef, an iconic motorway cafe chain that sadly stopped trading by the end of 2018. Even the toilets at Brightside felt like a fun throwback with avocado-coloured sinks set against a mustard yellow tile backdrop. I often skip past roadside cafes and restaurants for fear that the food will be poor and the prices will be high. But Brightside wasn't like this. The menu features an extensive range of options through morning, noon and night. I opted for the 'Hot Honey Fried Chicken Burger' (£14.95) and my parents opted for the 'Chicken Caesar' pizza (£13.95) and the 'Dirty Brisket Burger' (£16.45). Whilst we may not have had Eggo waffles (made popular by Stranger Things' Eleven), the dishes we did order hit the spot. My chicken burger with honey offered a great twist on normal flavours. And for the brisket burger it was even a winner with my dad who is quite picky when it comes to burgers. The pizza was a good size as well, and really felt value for money. Inside Elon Musk's Tesla diner of the future staffed by ROBOTS with drive-in movie screens & burgers in Cybertruck boxes Along with our food we tried out two of the diner's mocktails - 'Strawberry Smash' and 'Pop Goes Summer'. Both mocktails cost £6 and were made with Ceder's non-alcoholic spirit. Pop Goes Summer had an extra layer of fun, with popping candy around the rim of the glass. As for Strawberry Smash, it was a great mix of strawberry, pineapple and lime. Moving onto dessert, we shared the 'Berry Ice Cream Sandwich' (£6.95) and a 'Banoffee Sundae' (£5.95). The berry ice cream sandwich was essentially a giant profiterole with soft serve ice cream, berries and meringue. 10 There are also some great mocktails on the menu Credit: Instagram 10 Outside there is a large garden, with plenty of seating and vibrant parasols Credit: Instagram 10 Even the toilets feature a fun 70s design with avocado-coloured sinks and mustard yellow tiles Credit: Instagram Both desserts felt like the ultimate childhood throwbacks. It might be just me, but I don't see banoffee desserts around much anymore, so this treat really did transport you back in time. When the bill came I was pleasantly surprised, as all of that came to around £68. The price was less than I had expected thanks to their Thursday offer that lets you buy a dessert for £1 alongside any adult main meal. 10 The diner is also dog friendly and has activities available for children Credit: Cyann Fielding 10 The desserts include a berry ice cream sandwich, which was a great childhood throwback Credit: Cyann Fielding 10 We tried the brisket burger and hot honey chicken burger which were great Credit: Cyann Fielding This wasn't the only great offer the diner had - on Tuesdays, you can buy one pizza get one free after 3pm. And on Wednesdays, kids eat free after 3pm, making it an affordable option for families needing to take a break on the motorway. Outside the diner there is also a brightly coloured seating area, with large parasols so you can get some fresh air too. Dogs are welcome too, and there is plenty to keep the kids entertained with Brightside branded merch to peruse and a number of books available to borrow whilst you sit and eat. Whilst the diner isn't your typical American-style joint, Brightside definitely mixes the best of British 70s/80s culture with retro American diners. I personally think Eleven would love it... as well as everyone else in Hawkins. There are three Brightside diners located across Devon and Cornwall, and a fourth location can be found in Rutland, just under an hour from Leicester. The diner in Exeter was the first location to open, opposite from Exeter Racecourse, back in 2023. There is also a 'Karen attraction' in the UK that Brits can't get enough of.
