Suspect arrested in San Jose New Year's Eve shooting

Police in San Jose on Wednesday confirmed the recent arrest of a suspect who fired at a rideshare vehicle on New Year's Eve, injuring one of the car's female passengers. According to a press release issued by the San Jose Police Department, at around 11:15 p.m. on December 31, 2024, officers responded to a report of a shooting that happened in the area of Don Alfonso Way and Entrada Cedros near the Blossom Hill Home neighborhood. Arriving officers learned that three adult female victims had entered a rideshare vehicle when an adult male suspect approached their vehicle and produced a firearm. As the driver began to drive away, the suspect fired on the vehicle, striking one of the female passengers. The driver quickly took the victim to an area hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to authorities. Police said he suspect fled the scene prior to the arrival of the responding officers. SJPD detectives began an investigation and were able to identify the suspect as 19-year-old San Jose resident Erik Enriquez. Detectives also discovered that Enriquez had been arrested shortly after the Dec. 31 shooting for an unrelated crime in San Jose. He was taken into custody while in possession of the firearm that police believe was used in the December 31 incident. Authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Enriquez and a search warrant for his associated residence. On Wednesday, police executed the search warrant at a San Jose residence, where detectives found an un-serialized assault rifle. Enriquez was arrested and subsequently booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on multiple charges including attempted murder, discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle, vandalism, and possession of an assault rifle. San Jose police seek additional victims of man suspected of having unlawful sex with minor

Police in San Jose are asking the public for information on possible additional cases involving a man suspected of having illegal sexual contact with a minor who worked as a martial arts instructor and behavioral therapist. According to a press release issued by the San Jose Police Department Tuesday , on January 17, 2025 at about 10:43 p.m., officers responded to a report of unlawful sexual contact with a minor. Police identified 28-year-old San Jose resident Bernie Barrozo as the suspect and discovered he was an instructor at a local martial arts studio located in the 800 block of Coleman Avenue. The department's Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce (ICAC) began a comprehensive investigation into the incident and detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Suspect Barrozo. On March 6, 2025, ICAC detectives apprehended Barrozo in San Jose. He was later booked him into Santa Clara County Main Jail for the crimes of unlawful intercourse and oral copulation with a minor. During their investigation, detectives discovered the suspect had previously worked as a behavioral therapist for children with autism in San Jose. Police in San Jose on Thursday confirmed the arrest of a suspect involved in a January armed robbery at a residence where the victim had "thousands of dollars" stolen from him. According to a press release issued Thursday by the San Jose Police Department, at around 1:30 p.m. on January 24, 2025, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery that happened at a residence located near the San Jose State campus on the 80 block of East San Carlos Street. According to police, two adult male suspects brandished firearms at the adult male victim and stole thousands of dollars from him. The victim fled from the scene on foot and contacted law enforcement. The department's robbery unit detectives began investigating and connected one of the suspects to a separate assault investigation involving a firearm that occurred on February 6, 2025 at the same location. Police positively identified that suspect as 19-year-old San Jose resident Yonatan Petros. An arrest warrant for the suspect was obtained and a search warrant issued for his associated residences in the city of San Jose and the city of San Leandro. Last Thursday, San Jose police detectives along with officers from the department's covert response unit arrested Petros. During the execution of the search warrant at his San Jose residence, detectives found and seized an unregistered firearm. He was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. Police said the second suspect in the January armed robbery is currently unidentified and outstanding. (KRON) — San Jose police are investigating the City of San Jose's fourth homicide of 2025. Brazen armed robbery of Milpitas massage parlor caught on camera Police said officers responded at 8:45 p.m. Sunday to the 3500 block of Cas Drive for a report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they found evidence of a shooting but didn't locate any involved individuals. Police soon discovered that the victim, a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, had been dropped off at a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. His identity is being withheld until the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office confirms and notifies the next of kin. The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known, and police are investigating. Police did not provide any further information on who may have dropped the victim off at the hospital. Richmond man arrested by San Jose police for sex trafficking a minor

Police in San Jose on Tuesday confirmed the recent arrest of a Richmond man accused of intending to exploit a juvenile for commecial sex trafficking, authorities said. According to the press release issued by the San Jose Police Department, back in November of last year, the department's Human Trafficking Task Force (HTTF) launched an investigation after an adult male suspect initiated contact with an individual who he believed to be a juvenile female for prostitution. The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Richmond resident Kendrick Robinson, engaged in online and phone communication to arrange commercial sex activities with the victim. This allowed detectives to obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect. Last Thursday, Robinson traveled to San Jose from Richmond with the intent of exploiting the juvenile victim for prostitution and was arrested with assistance from the SJPD Special Operations M.E.R.G.E. Unit. He was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for commercial sex trafficking. The San Jose Police Department also thanked the San Francisco Field Office of U.S. Department of State's Diplomatic Security Service for their help on this case.
