Scroll to see what sleuthing viewers think is coming up soap sleuths EastEnders fans 'work out' top secret Christmas plots with tragic death, second shock exit and surprise romance EASTENDERS fans have 'worked out' top secret Christmas plots with a tragic death, second shock exit and surprise romance. The long-running BBC soap keeps viewers on their toes with twists and turns. Advertisement 4 Fans reckon the Slaters will play a central role at Christmas Credit: BBC 4 Nigel Bates returned to the show last year Credit: BBC 4 Viewers predict drama ahead for Linda Carter and daughter Annie Credit: BBC In particular, Christmas is a particularly dramatic time for Albert Square's residents. Writing on Reddit, fans reckon the Slater family will be a central focus. Namely, the fallout from Zoe's (Michelle Ryan) return after 20 years away. Alfie (Shane Richie) and Stacey (Lacey Slater) are currently aware of this - but Kat is in the dark. Advertisement Viewers also predicted a heartbreaking death for soap legend Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley). The much-loved character returned last Christmas, after a 26-year absence. However, Nigel has been battling dementia with his condition deteriorating. A fan commented: "I'm imagining another Dot/Ethel scenario between him and Phil. Advertisement "I really wish Nigel could stick around though. He's been great to have back." Another added: "I think Nigel will sadly pass away, why my heart will break for Phil." EastEnders legend makes a shock return just days after quitting Walford Some think there'll be a fierce custody battle between Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and her ex Max Branning (Jake Wood). Notorious womaniser Max is returning to Walford after a four-year absence. Advertisement It follows son Oscar recently making his own comeback to the BBC soap. Max is currently unaware that his brief romance with Linda resulted in daughter Annie. One fan predicted: "Max will battle Linda for Annie." Kat Moon's EastEnders Timeline Kat Slater burst onto the Square in 2000 as feisty Kat Slater, played by Jessie Wallace. She is the eldest sister of the Slater family. She soon makes a big name for herself. She is a loud and brash character who is renowned for her leopard print skimpy outfits and loads of red lipstick. She has played the 'tart with a heart' character but has also had an epic love story with Alfie. Here is a rundown of her greatest soap storylines. Kat arrives in Walford as part of the Slater clan, She soon begins a fling with Steve Owen (Martin Kemp) behind the back of his girlfriend Mel Healey. Kat's sister Zoe (played by Michelle Ryan) was revealed to be her sister after shocked viewers learned she was raped by her uncle Harry Slater as a child and Kat being only 13, was known as her sister. Kat and Zoe's relationship was turbulent. They both vied for the attentions of Anthony Trueman. Kat and Anthony were together but broke up and Zoe then seduced him. Kat later learns she was pregnant but then has to have an abortion. She is comforted by her boss Alfie Moon but then he realises he is in love with her. Kat, becomes briefly engaged to Andy Hunter a local crime boss (Michael Briggs) but she jilts him on her wedding day for the true love her life Alfie. Kat sparks a romance with Alfie Moon and it is the love story of the square. She finally marries Alfie Moon on Christmas day in the Vic. Alfie takes a loan from Andy which he is unable to repay and then threatens to kill him unless Kat sleeps with him. Their relationship becomes cold and distant. One of Kat's biggest storylines was helping her daughter cover up the murder of Dirty Den Watts. She left the soap in 2005 sailing into the sunset with Alfie for a new life in America. Kat returned to the soap in 2010 on the run from a man who she and Alfie conned for money. While Alfie was serving time, she had an affair with Michael Moon who happened to be Alfies cousin and she is now pregnant with his child. Another Kat storyline focused on the breakdown of her and Alfie's marriage and her separation from Tommy and their twin sons Bert and Ernie. Kat's union with Phil Mitchell began after months of feuding. She then sleeps with him marries him beginning a war with his ex Sharon Mitchell over the Mitchell empire. The latest storyline has focused on her son Tommy who idolised Phil and is trying to get back at Kat for breaking up the marriage. Kat meanwhile is back with the love of her life Alfie who is suffering from cancer. While another argued: "I can't see any court giving Max custody over Linda, now that she's recovered. Advertisement "He's had 4 kids and managed to mess it up every time, he's been with countless women so can't provide Annie with stability, family wise. "I can't see Jack supporting him in it, even if he did I'm pretty sure Denise would shut that down." Just how exactly Max's return will rock Albert Square remains to be seen. Advertisement

Linda shaken to the core in EastEnders as Max update leaves her fearful
Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) is confront another nightmare in EastEnders next week – coming clean to Oscar Branning (Pierre Moullier) about his half-sister Annie. As viewers of the BBC One soap will recall, his father Max (Jake Wood) decided it was time to leave Albert Square and join daughter Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) and grandson Louie in New Zealand back in 2021. His brief love affair with Linda was in tatters, and after landing himself in hot water, he had no future in the area. Little did he realise, she was pregnant with his daughter, and decided to keep her birth a closely guarded secret. Upon Lauren's return to Walford last year, she was introduced to Annie, though chose not to say anything to her estranged father. Given recent scenes have shown Max ignoring her calls, it seems that the two haven't been in touch for quite some time. Now Linda faces a fresh hurdle – as she realises Max's son Oscar is living across the road. It couldn't come at a worse time for the landlady, as she prepares to give up her beloved Queen Vic and move onto pastures new. The auctioneer arrives to get the boozer under the hammer, with the Slaters planning to place the winning bid with Martin Fowler's (James Bye) life insurance money. Unfortunately for Kat (Jessie Wallace), her plans to reinstate herself behind the bar are stunted by Stacey (Lacey Turner), who drops the bombshell that she can't give her the money after all. This seems to come following a mysterious message from Kat's husband Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), who is in Barcelona searching for her eldest daughter Zoe (Michelle Ryan). As the family rally around to think of a solution, Stacey has a sudden change of mind and tells Kat to head back to the pub to get bidding. More Trending It's a tense moment as a bidding war ensues between Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and a property developer, but who will succeed? The following day, Linda is looking forward to her fresh start and decides to come clean to Oscar about Annie. It doesn't exactly go to plan, though – he wants Max to know everything. Linda desperately tries to persuade Lauren to work her magic and keep Oscar quiet. View More » Will he agree to say nothing? Shock exit for ANOTHER EastEnders character as he risks marriage to flee abroad
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) EASTENDERS has waved goodbye to another character in a shock exit in today's episode. The BBC soap has only just seen returnee Zoe Slater leave three days after her comeback - and now another member of the family is off to find her. Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up 2 Alfie is off to track Zoe down without Kat knowing Credit: BBC 2 Kat is trusting Alfie to go to Australia - and she has no idea he's lying to her Credit: BBC With Stacey telling Alfie that Zoe has done a moonlight flit to Barcelona on her credit cards, he came up with a plan. Telling her not to cancel them, he said they could track where she was with it and find her to bring her home for a reunion with her mum Kat. But with Alfie unable to tell Kat where he was really going, instead he lied and claimed he was going to Australia to see his brother Spencer who was struggling. And it's EastEnders, it's likely that Kat will discover his lies and jump to the wrong conclusion, putting their marriage at risk. It comes just a day after Zoe fled to Barcelona, after her brief return scenes. The BBC soap has confirmed that Michelle will return later this summer for a permanent comeback. EastEnders new boss, Executive Producer Ben Wadey added: 'Before I even stepped into the role, Zoe Slater was on my wish-list of returnees as, although we haven't seen her on screen for twenty years, her character has transcended time due to her popular storylines.' Speaking on her return to the BBC soap, Michelle said: 'It feels like coming home. 'After doing my first few scenes, it was like I'd never been away. 'It all happened at the right time. EastEnders drops huge clue that Zoe Slater has a secret child before shock exit 'I'd already been thinking about a return because I'd met up with Kacey Ainsworth (Little Mo) and Kim Medcalf (Sam Mitchell) and we were reminiscing our fond memories of the show, and I'd also joined social media and saw that there was still a lot of love for the character. 'It just so happened that at the same time, EastEnders had announced a new Exec who was keen to explore the potential of a return as he was such a massive fan of Zoe and the Slaters, so both of our worlds aligned at the right time, and I'm so excited to be back. 'When I was pitched the storylines, and when I read the scripts, I knew it was the right decision.'
