Linda shaken to the core in EastEnders as Max update leaves her fearful

Metro16-07-2025
Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) is confront another nightmare in EastEnders next week – coming clean to Oscar Branning (Pierre Moullier) about his half-sister Annie.
As viewers of the BBC One soap will recall, his father Max (Jake Wood) decided it was time to leave Albert Square and join daughter Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) and grandson Louie in New Zealand back in 2021.
His brief love affair with Linda was in tatters, and after landing himself in hot water, he had no future in the area.
Little did he realise, she was pregnant with his daughter, and decided to keep her birth a closely guarded secret.
Upon Lauren's return to Walford last year, she was introduced to Annie, though chose not to say anything to her estranged father. Given recent scenes have shown Max ignoring her calls, it seems that the two haven't been in touch for quite some time.
Now Linda faces a fresh hurdle – as she realises Max's son Oscar is living across the road.
It couldn't come at a worse time for the landlady, as she prepares to give up her beloved Queen Vic and move onto pastures new.
The auctioneer arrives to get the boozer under the hammer, with the Slaters planning to place the winning bid with Martin Fowler's (James Bye) life insurance money.
Unfortunately for Kat (Jessie Wallace), her plans to reinstate herself behind the bar are stunted by Stacey (Lacey Turner), who drops the bombshell that she can't give her the money after all.
This seems to come following a mysterious message from Kat's husband Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), who is in Barcelona searching for her eldest daughter Zoe (Michelle Ryan).
As the family rally around to think of a solution, Stacey has a sudden change of mind and tells Kat to head back to the pub to get bidding. More Trending
It's a tense moment as a bidding war ensues between Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and a property developer, but who will succeed?
The following day, Linda is looking forward to her fresh start and decides to come clean to Oscar about Annie. It doesn't exactly go to plan, though – he wants Max to know everything.
Linda desperately tries to persuade Lauren to work her magic and keep Oscar quiet.

Tamzin Outhwaite addresses 'still seeing' ex Tom Child over a year on from split

Ex EastEnders actress Tamzin Outhwaite opened up about her close bond with her ex-partner Tom Child, over a year on from announcing their split after six years together Former EastEnders star Tamzin Outhwaite said she still sees her ex-partner Tom Child "a lot", despite their split. The 54-year-old announced she had parted ways with Tom, who is 20 years her junior, last summer after six years together. ‌ While exes tend to go their separate ways, Tamzin said she and her two children, Flo and Marnie, have remained closed to him - and he even has a key to her house. ‌ Speaking about her family life on the Parenting Hell podcast with Rob Beckett and Josh Widdecombe, she said her children still "love" Tom, who she referred to as her "mate". ‌ Quizzed on how often he is at her home, she replied: "A lot. He lives literally around the corner in a flat, and if there's any food [left] over, he eats everything." Tamzin went on to say her home is "an open house", which often has many visitors including Tom, and her children's former nanny Michelle. Additionally, the actress' father lives with her, but in a separate part of the home. "I would say it's an open house, in the same way I'd say my parents house was open," she continued. "I think I've created something that is the only thing I knew." ‌ Tamzin went on to describe her abode as a "house of fun" with "a lot of laughter", and joked that whoever comes through the door has to "lift the vibes even more". She added: "Because I'm still such a massive kid, and my ex is actually a kid because he's 20 years younger than me, so he really is one." ‌ Last month, Tamzin referred to Tom as one of her "best friends" who she "adored". Speaking of them staying in contact, she said on Hello! Magazine's Second Act podcast: "I didn't want to never see him again, so we're mates, which feels very grown up." Reflecting on adapting to single life, she added: "I'm in a phase where I need to be on my own now. I don't want to share a bed. I want to be on my own." ‌ Should the actress find love again in the future however, she is keen to keep them at a distance. "I do think one day I will meet someone and have a nice time, but they won't share my house," she admitted. ‌ Tom was Tamzin's first known long-term partner following the breakdown of her marriage to Lucifer star Tom Ellis, the father of her two children. The former couple called it quits after eight years together in 2014, due to his alleged infidelity. Tom has since found love again with actress Meaghan Oppenheimer, who he married in 2019 and shares an almost two-year-old daughter with. ‌ Meanwhile, in her latest interview, Tamzin announced that her eldest child Flo is transgender. She told Rob and Josh: "I've got two kids and I did have two daughters and now I have a son and a daughter, and that's quite easy for me to to say now but it wasn't maybe six or seven years ago. "We live in a very happy household now, full of jokes, and it's my favourite place to be at home." Addressing her reaction to the change at first, she added: "What I did initially, I was like 'don't be ridiculous', I didn't say don't be ridiculous but my mind went to 'that's ludicrous' and working back from that to talking through it."

Unlikely star could be next Doctor Who as fans call on producers to give BAFTA winner role

Doctor Who fans have suggested an unlikely face could be the right fit for the future of the show, with the BAFTA winner seemingly interested in taking on the role An unlikely TV veteran could be the next Doctor Who should producers listen to fan requests. The BAFTA winner has since confirmed he would be interested in the role, and would want to bring a "working class" background to the long-running television character. Fans were delighted when familiar face Billie Piper appeared as the next iteration of the Time Lord. ‌ Her casting as the titular Doctor follows on from Ncuti Gatwa's departure from the series. But a new star for the role could come from a BAFTA winner whose work on EastEnders, as well as films like The Football Factory and Run For Your Wife. ‌ ‌ Whether Danny Dyer 's wish of portraying the Doctor is granted is yet to be seen, but fans are hopeful the star will be given the chance. Dyer said: "It's such an iconic thing to do. It's almost – not on the same level – like James Bond. It gives you an opportunity with Doctor Who, because of the nature of the work, to bring something left-field, something a bit mental, a bit stylised, which I love. I love the idea of it." Fans seem to be on board for the "incredibly working-class Doctor Who" Dyer would bring to the screen. A post to the r/DoctorWhoNews Reddit page saw fans discuss the possibilities for the actor. ‌ One fan wrote: "Honestly, I dig it. It could never happen as the BBC and Bad Wolf need to save face but I'd love a series of Comic Relief /Children in Need sketches where they put a variety of ill-judged castings in the role and they all smash it. "You could make a solid comedy about the weird choices and misjudgements of the last few years of the show." ‌ Another user suggested people forget Dyer is a credible actor, and that his CV of roles fits the bill for what producers may want from a future Doctor Who star. They wrote: "People have forgotten he's actually a bl**dy great actor, really watchable. Let's not forget one of the most celebrated British playwrights, Harold Pinter, thought Dyer was so unbelievably talented he continuously cast him in all his productions. That's a glowing seal of approval. "Now's he's just won a BAFTA for Bigstuff (a part written for him by Luke Rattigan from series 4). He's absolutely sensational in Rivals with David Tennant. I honestly can't see why he wouldn't be a brilliant fresh bit of casting. "Any other actor with cult hits and accolades like that we'd be clawing for." Not everyone was convinced by Dyer in the lead role, with a few detractors sharing their kneejerk reaction was a "no" to the suggestion. But even they have warmed to the idea of Doctor Dyer. One fan wrote: "He's not the best actor, but Doctor Who isn't Shakespeare. Maybe this wouldn't actually be that bad." Another viewer added: "F**k it, why not?"
