Prince William Cracks Joke About His Hair While Out in England

Originally appeared on E! Online Prince William knows his nature's crown isn't the fullest. In fact, the Prince of Wales—whose hair loss journey has been a hot topic for well over a decade—cracked a joke about his balding mane during his recent outing at the Sporting Khalsa FC in Willenhall, a small town in England's West Midlands. 'Look at your hair, it's fantastic,' the 42-year-old said in a March 12 video posted to X, which sees him complimenting a fan's vibrant red hair while greeting members of a crowd. William, dressed in a navy blue coat and black trousers, then poked fun at his own minimal haircut. 'Wish I had hair like that. I know, I've not a chance.' William's hair was styled in his signature light comb over, a stark difference from his notable 2018 buzz cut. And while it seems the royal—who shares kids Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, with wife Kate Middleton—has slightly grown out his hair in the last seven years, his facial hair is receiving the same treatment. He's still donning his infamous grey-peppered beard, which he first debuted last September, in this new clip. More from E! Prince William Makes Self-Deprecating Joke About His Hair as He Compliments Well-Wisher's 'Fantastic' Look

Prince William isn't afraid to poke a little fun at himself. The Prince of Wales, 42, cracked a self-deprecating joke about his thinning hair while meeting a well-wisher during his visit to the West Midlands on March 11. William traveled to Sporting Khalsa FC in Willenhall to check out a referee training course organized by the Football Association (which he backs as a patron) to recruit 1,000 individuals from Black, Asian and mixed heritage backgrounds into ref roles. Prince William was warmly welcomed by excited schoolchildren and locals who came out to see him, where one woman's bold red hair caught his attention during an impromptu walkabout. "Look at your hair! It's fantastic," William told the well-wisher, who wore her locks in a close crop. "Wish I had hair like that," he added with a laugh in the fan footage shared on X. "I know, I've not a chance." Prince William has been known to quip about his hair loss in the past, previously joking that he "had hair" when he launched his environmental Earthshot Prize in 2020 and telling a hairstylist during a day out in 2017, "I don't have much hair, I can't give you much business." However, the heir to the throne got the internet talking about his facial hair when he switched up his look over the summer by sporting a beard for the first time in 16 years. See Photo Timeline of His Scruff Prince William had gone clean-shaven for years when he appeared with a bold beard in a video he issued with wife Kate Middleton in August 2024 to congratulate Team Great Britain on their success at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Royal watchers were shocked as he had not worn a beard in public since 2008. William was without the scruff a few weeks later when spotted driving to church in Scotland, but he brought the beard back when he returned to work after the summer on Sept. 5. The prince has rocked the facial hair ever since, and his former royal aide Jason Knauf recently revealed he thinks Princess Kate approves of the new look! "I love it. I think it's great," Knauf said about William's beard in a Feb. 24 interview with 60 Minutes Australia. "But I've talked to him about it — or tried to talk to him about it. He's like, 'It's here. I have a beard.' No further conversation.' " Can't get enough of PEOPLE's Royals coverage? to get the latest updates on Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle and more! When asked if the Princess of Wales liked the look, which her husband seems to be sticking with, Knauf shared some relatable insight. "If she didn't like it, it wouldn't be there. I could tell you that," he said. Read the original article on People

Prince of Wales tries his hand at refereeing football

He is often spotted cheering on Aston Villa from the stands but the Prince of Wales has now had a crash course in how to referee football matches. Prince William, patron of the Football Association, was put through his paces at Sporting Khalsa FC in Willenhall, West Midlands. The club is one of several across the country running courses designed to improve diversity by training black, Asian and mixed heritage people over the age of 14 in how to become match officials. It combines theory and practical training to support those learning to be referees and other roles. The Prince took part in a training session in a classroom where students were shown video clips before being asked to decide whether the action on screen warranted a red card, a yellow card or no card. He joined participants in standing in different sections of the room depending on their decision. Picking up his red and yellow cards, he joked: 'I'll follow the crowd.' When asked why he had decided to give a red card, William gestured to two girls beside him and said: 'I'll take advice from you two.' He then added: 'I think that it's studs out. Straight leg. I think it's dangerous, because of the height of where it is.' Told he had made the correct call, the Prince then moved to a football pitch where he was taught about different whistle tones and flag signals. Jogging up and down, at one point he was gently admonished for his overzealous use of the whistle, which he was told was not needed. He was then taught about when to signal with his flag before practising side-stepping along the touchline. He later joined a mini-game to referee students taking part in the course. The Prince was 30 minutes late to the engagement after stopping off en route for a private visit to see Aston Villa in training ahead of their Champions League clash against Club Brugge on Wednesday. When he eventually arrived, he was given a raucous welcome by more than 100 cheering schoolchildren from Fibbersley Park Primary Academy, who were waving home-made flags and signs. The Prince shook hands and gave high fives, stopping to chat to a child waving a sign that read 'Aston Villa are the best'. When the Prince finally made it onto the pitch, he told Manjit Gill and Inder Grewal, the club's directors: 'Sorry to keep you guys waiting. I just broke the record for the number of high fives in 10 minutes.'

Prince of Wales to learn refereeing skills on visit to FA training course

The Prince of Wales will visit a referee training course next week as part of a campaign to recruit more people from black, Asian and mixed heritage backgrounds into refereeing roles. William, who is patron of the Football Association, will visit the course at Sporting Khalsa FC in Willenhall, in the West Midlands, on Tuesday March 11. The visit is a part of the FA's Reflective and Representative Campaign. During the visit, William will meet representatives from the FA and Sporting Khalsa to hear about the importance of opening up opportunities in football to young people from diverse backgrounds. He will then speak to British Army Lieutenant Levi Gray, a professional referee and trainer on the course, to hear about her career journey. The prince will finish by being taken on to the pitch to engage with different stations teaching refereeing skills such as whistle tone and flag signals. He will have the opportunity to practise being a referee in a mini football game alongside participants on the programme. The course started in July 2023 and combines theory and practical training to support those taking their first steps into officiating. Participants will be taught key skills needed to referee grassroots football matches safely and effectively. It is aimed at people aged 14 and over who wish to referee mini football, 9v9 and 11v11 games.
