Elayna Black (Cora Jade) Reveals She Nearly Died Due To An Ectopic Pregnancy
Former WWE NXT star Elayna Black, known as Cora Jade, nearly lost her life in 2023 due to an ectopic pregnancy. Jade was off WWE NXT TV between January and April 2023. In an interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, she revealed that her absence resulted from a serious medical emergency. 'In January of 2023 it was like the very late January, I was supposed to wrestle Lyra Valkyria on TV on Tuesday, and long story short. I'll spare you the details long story short, I ended up in emergency surgery in the hospital the night before. Literally almost dying and bleeding out. Because I had had an ectopic pregnancy that had failed and it exploded and, like, made me internally bleed.' Black says she was rushed into emergency surgery so she didn't bleed out. She noted that she was worried about making it to her match the next day. In hindsight, she is thankful she went to the hospital. After an 11-hour wait, doctors realized she needed immediate surgery. 'So what had happened was, I had, I don't know if you're familiar with the IUD birth control. It's inserted in you, it's like a 99.9% success rate. But they warn you beforehand, 'cause it's like a 5-year thing, so you're, like, protected for 5 years. But they warn you of ectopic pregnancies beforehand. Which, if you're not, or anyone else isn't familiar, it's where, like, the egg is implanted outside of the uterus, in the fallopian tube and that causes the fallopian tube to explode.' 'Obviously, you internally bleed, and it's very, extremely life-threatening obviously to the baby or whatever it was, but to the woman. So I was always scared of that in general, 'cause I have health anxiety anyway. So I was always worried about that so I kind of again, my intuition, I was like, this I know what's happening. Like, I got to go.' 'So we did that, had the emergency surgery. They ended up having to remove my left fallopian tube because it was that bad. And then I was just, I was just bummed about missing Stand & Deliver. Like, I was like, I can't miss like, I cannot miss Stand & Deliver. But then, like, after that, I felt like I guess nothing has ever happened like that to me before. I never realized, like, the effects of it and stuff like that. So, like, after I came back, like, those few months, I was just the most mentally depressed I have ever been in my entire life.' Ricky Saints has friction with Ethan Page, but he believes that only makes for a good match. Saints is set to defend his NXT North American Championship against Ethan Page on Tuesday's episode of NXT. Saints previously defended and retained the title against Page at NXT Stand & Deliver, but the feud has continued to heat up ever since then. Advertisement Ricky Saints spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard at WrestleMania Media Day about his feud with Ethan Page, who, like him, left AEW to join NXT. There are some similarities between the two, but their personalities are very different. Despite that contrast, Saints said their dynamic brings out the best in each other. 'Polar opposites attract, of course, and I'm no stranger to Ethan. We have met before on the indies and other places, things of that nature, so I think having that chemistry only creates the best types of matches and outcomes,' Ricky Saints said. Speaking on the Stay Busy with Armon Sadler podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer praised their development and teamwork, saying the young duo is 'clicking on all cylinders.' From NXT rivals to SmackDown standouts Michaels, who currently serves as WWE's Senior Vice President of Talent Development, has overseen Fraxiom 's progress since their early NXT UK days. According to him, the duo initially 'dipped their toes' into the tag team waters before fully committing—and the results speak for themselves. Oba Femi Shares Bold Words for John Cena
John Cena is currently the unimpeded king on top of the wrestling mountain. Even with his entire heel run failing to reach that next gear due to inadequate booking and mindless meddling from The Rock, Cena is still the hottest name in the industry. Cena looks ready to feud with Randy Orton heading into Backlash, but who else will the 48-year-old square off with before hanging up his dad shoes? A current champion and potential future WrestleMania main eventer is interested in getting in the ring with the living legend but also took a few subtle jabs at Cena in the process. John CenaGetty Images During a recent No Contest Wrestling live show, NXT Champion Oba Femi fielded a question about a match with John Cena and gave a blunt response. "I'm young, I'm spry—John is not the same; respect him," Femi said. "He's a champion right now, but I'm still Oba Femi, I'm still the ruler—don't forget that." Femi is a physical specimen who is one of the most physically intimidating wrestlers on the planet. He is coming off an incredible triple-threat match with Je'Von Evans and Trick Williams at Stand & Deliver, and although he's still so new to the business as a whole, he has done almost everything possible in NXT. Advertisement A bout between Femi and Cena would be a great passing of the torch and instantly establish the former University of Alabama shot putter as a legit star to a broader audience. Cena should be putting over some young talent on the way out, and Femi has to be near the top of that list.
