Sinethemba Badela hails Chippa United star in Mamelodi Sundowns draw

Interview Badela heaps praise on Nwabali after Sundowns stalemate Picture courtesy of Sowetan Chippa United coach Sinethemba Badela has reserved a special praise for goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali for his strong showing and experience in their 1-1 draw against reigning Betway Premiership Mamelodi Sundowns. The Chilli Boys held their own against the rampant Brazilians as newly signed Khaya Mfecane canceled out Arthur Sales' first half opener for Sundowns, ensuring that the Gqeberha-based outfit leaves the capital with a point. During the match, Nwabali appeared to have suffered a knock, prompting substitute goalkeeper Elson Sithole to warm up. However, the Nigerian shot-stopper insisted on seeing out the remainder of the match, much to the delight of his mentor. Badela,35, heaped praise on the 29-year-old goalminder, highlighting how his presence in between the sticks helped the team to walk away with a crucial point against the Tshwane giants, who were expected to claim maximum points. 'Stanley Nwabali is an international player, he's the club captain, he's experienced. I thought his experience in the second half helped us a lot, especially to slow the game down, to pick the moments when we can play short,' said Badela. 'He also helped us in picking moments on when we can bypass the press and go over the press. I thought he did very well and he's an important player for our team. Nwabali has been subject to transfer speculation since his impressive display at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast. He kept four clean sheets and conceded only four goals in the continental showpiece. Saudi Arabian club Al Ettifaq and English Championship side Queens Park Rangers (QPR) enquired about the player's services post AFCON. Furthermore, Kaizer Chiefs were also interested in signing the Chippa goalkeeper before acquiring Rwanda international Fiacre Ntwari. Recently, Nwabali was linked with a move to Botola Pro League giants Raja Club Athletic, but a move never materialized as he looks set to continue plying his trade in the South African topflight under the guidance of Badela.

Kaizer Chiefs - 10 players linked: Who they are are likely to sign

Kaizer Chiefs have been linked with 10 red-hot players. This is who they likely to sign. Kaizer Chiefs have been one of the busiest teams in the PSL transfer window. So far, they have completed 18 deals with 10 new faces and EIGHT departures confirmed. However, more big moves are lined up with these FIVE deals expected to take place at Chiefs before the end of the transfer window. Let's take a look at who they likely to sign Stanley Nwabali Feisel Salum Luke Baartman Asanele Velebayi Lebogang Phiri Percy Tau Fiston Mayele Zakhele Lepasa Dzenan Zajmovic Etiosa Ighodaro First things first, talks have gone quite for Chiefs-linked platers Salum and Phiri. Meanwhile, despite rumours, Amakhosi have shown no interest in Tau or Lepasa. So, it is merely that – just rumours. Furthermore, Mayele's brother confirmed that he will not be joining Chiefs or any other side in the PSL. Therefore, the aformentioned players are unlikely to join Chiefs. However, they are reportedly closing in on the signatures of Baartman and Velebayi. Both players have agreed to personal terms with Chiefs. Now, it is a case of receiving legal clearance from Cape Town Spurs to join Amakhosi. Furthermore, Chiefs have expressed interest in Outbound Sundowns striker, Ighodara. He is currently training alone as he contemplates his next move. Also, Chiefs have a golden chance to sign Nwabali with Chippa open to letting him go. Finally, Nasreddine Nabi is willing to sign Zajmovic from TS Galaxy. Let us know by leaving a comment below or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Raja Interested in Nigerian Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali

Raja Casablanca are reportedly considering a move for Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali ahead of next season. South African outlet Unplayable reported that the Moroccan giants are keen on signing the 29-year-old, who currently plays for Chippa United in the South African Premier Division. Nwabali, who impressed during Nigeria's run to the final at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d'Ivoire, made 26 appearances for Chippa United last season and currently holds the club's captaincy. According to reports, Chippa are open to letting Nwabali leave if a credible offer is submitted. The player is currently valued at €650,000 on Transfermarkt. Raja Casablanca, three-time CAF Champions League winners, are looking to rebuild after a disappointing campaign in the Botola Pro League. A move to the Moroccan club would mark a significant step in Nwabali's career. The Raja CA is reportedly planning to rebuild their team, following a disappointing trophyless season. Kaizer Chiefs need a new goalkeeper, here are some options

Kaizer Chiefs have struggled to feel confident in a number one goalkeeper for a few seasons. What are their options in the market? Shutouts remain a rarity for Kaizer Chiefs In the 2024-2025 season, Amakhosi's rearguard has conceded 32 goals from 27 league outings. In 2023-2024, they conceded a total of 30 goals in 30 games. The current holder of the gloves, Bruce Bvuma, has only six clean sheets from 19 league appearances. There have been consistent links to Salim Magoola from Richards Bay and Stanley Nwabali at Chippa. Malian goalkeeper Djigui Diarra has also been mentioned as a potential target. Is Mdu Shabalala finished at Chiefs? Kaizer Chiefs target Stanley Nwabali representing Nigeria. The 29-year-old Burkinabe star has been a standout performer for Tanzanian giants Young Africans. It's understood that Rulani Mokwena played a big role in convincing the talented goal-scoring midfielder to move to Morocco. As it happens, Mokwena will leave his post at the end of the season. Aziz Ki has two goals from 17 caps in a Tanzania jersey. Wydad are hoping to complete a deal for Aziz Ki in time for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup hosted in the United States.
