Kaizer Chiefs need a new goalkeeper, here are some options

Kaizer Chiefs have struggled to feel confident in a number one goalkeeper for a few seasons. What are their options in the market? Shutouts remain a rarity for Kaizer Chiefs
In the 2024-2025 season, Amakhosi's rearguard has conceded 32 goals from 27 league outings. In 2023-2024, they conceded a total of 30 goals in 30 games. The current holder of the gloves, Bruce Bvuma, has only six clean sheets from 19 league appearances. There have been consistent links to Salim Magoola from Richards Bay and Stanley Nwabali at Chippa. Malian goalkeeper Djigui Diarra has also been mentioned as a potential target.

Meanwhile, according to PanAfrica Football, Stephane Aziz Ki will be a Wydad player imminently. The 29-year-old Burkinabe star has been a standout performer for Tanzanian giants Young Africans. It's understood that Rulani Mokwena played a big role in convincing the talented goal-scoring midfielder to move to Morocco. As it happens, Mokwena will leave his post at the end of the season. Aziz Ki has two goals from 17 caps in a Tanzania jersey. Wydad are hoping to complete a deal for Aziz Ki in time for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup hosted in the United States.

North African side table R5.6M bid for Kaizer Chiefs striker target!

Kaizer Chiefs have made it no secret that they're trying to sign a prolific striker ahead of next season. Chiefs' goal scoring woes have been well documented over the past three seasons and they hope to fix that. Subsequently there have been quite a few attackers linked with Chiefs going into the next season. This as a sign of what they're trying to fix in the final third. Amakhosi, however, have seen the likes of Fiston Mayele, Etiosa Ighodaro, Robert Polievka mentioned as strikers. In the wingers department Oswin Appollis, Elias Mokwana, Mihlali Mayambela and Keletso Makgalwa have been touted. It was rumoured, however, that coach Nasreddine Nabi had travelled to Egypt to try and convince Mayele to join. This after he had reportedly convinced Feisal Salum to sign for Chiefs ahead of the new season. During that trip to Tanzania the Tunisian-born mentor was seen attending game featuring Simba SC and Sinigida. Now earlier in the week this publication revealed that Chiefs held a 'secret meeting' to sign Steven Dese Mukwala of Simba. Now according to Soccer-Laduma , citing reports from the continent, Chiefs might lose him to RS Berkane. 'According to a report from Africafoot , Mukwala, who currently plays for Tanzanian giants Simba SC, is drawing growing interest from North Africa. A highly-placed source has confirmed that RS Berkane have submitted a $300,000 (approx. R5.6 million) bid for the player – a figure that may now set the benchmark for any club hoping to land the 24-year-old. Kaizer Chiefs, who are in the market for a proven goal scorer, see Mukwala as a potential solution to their ongoing issues in front of goal. But with RS Berkane's $300,000 (R5.6 million) offer on the table, Amakhosi will now need to decide whether they are willing to match – or better – the bid to secure the services of the prolific Ugandan. As things stand, Mukwala remains under contract at Simba, and any move will likely require swift negotiations and a competitive financial package. Chiefs' pursuit is far from over – but the race has undeniably become a lot more competitive.' Wrote the publication. Chiefs fans, should the club fight Berkane to get Mukwala's signature? Khune rejected Chiefs' non-playing position offer! Here's why...

Kaizer Chiefs legend Itumeleng Khune has revealed that he rejected a non-playing offer from the club in 2024. This was after Amakhosi revealed that Khune's time with them as a player had come to an end after 25 years. Chiefs further revealed that they were open to offering Khune a non-playing position within the club as he's considered part of the family. However, Khune told KickOff Magazine that Chiefs offered him a deal to coach the U13 team goalkeepers. And he rejected it on the basis that he didn't want to take out his frustrations on young boys aspiring to be like him. Khune had expected to be offered to coach senior team goalkeepers at Chiefs, adding that perhaps he could help with scouting for new talent in future. The 38-year-old left Amakhosi having featured 347 times with 153 cleansheets to his name. Itumeleng Khune at Kaizer Chiefs Village with former goalkeeper coach. Image: Archived 'I would have preferred to be a first team goalkeeper coach, but I was offered to go coach the U13s,' said Khune as per UnplayableZA . 'So, obviously with me having been stressed for so many years carrying the team and now you have to go and shout at kids, and taking [out] all your frustrations on them, I was like, 'no'. 'Maybe in the future, I can become a club scout since I have an eye for talent. I thought those were the positions I would have been given at the club, but unfortunately, the club has their own plans,' added Khune. Kaizer Chiefs make HUGE decision on Percy Tau signing!

Kaizer Chiefs have previously been linked with Percy Tau and they could now sign him for free this window. Chiefs have been touted as long-term admirers of Tau but question marks remain over finally signing him. Tau recently parted ways with his new side Qatar SC, this after a very short stint with the Qatari side. After only joining from Al Ahly in January, The South African international played just 10 times for the club, in an injury ravaged spell. He failed to find the back of the net during his time there, but was able to register four assists in the process. Before signing for Qatar, there had been rumours of interesting in Iran, North Africa as well as South Africa. On home soil it has been Chiefs who have prominently been linked with the player over the years. During the previous close season, it was claimed that Amakhosi had made inquiries and even bids for Tau, but could not meet Al Ahly's valuation. With Tau being a free agent, that opens up the pool of clubs that can entice him with a deal. It also gives Chiefs an opportunity to speak to the player directly, with only a personal package to worry about. Coach Nasreddine Nabi has recently been doing the rounds trying to attract experienced attackers. But according to Soccer-Laduma , Chiefs have made the decision not to sign Tau! 'Of course there was a time when the club (Chiefs) was interested in signing Percy Tau and that was when he was about to leave Aly Ahly. But no longer. The technical team as well as the recruitment department have ruled out signing Percy Tau this time around. It's apparently not in the coach's plans at the moment. They pulled out of that race,' said the source. Chiefs fans are you happy with that? Or do you feel the club needs Tau's experience up top? Let us know by clicking on the comment tab.
