Huge 999 presence as path cordoned for 24 hours and police seen searching woods

A path and woodland remains cordoned off after 24 hours with police continuing to guard the scene. Police remain near South Road, in Norton, Stockton, after an incident on Friday, as of 6pm on Saturday (August 2). A path and area of woodland has been taped off since about 6pm on Friday. Blue and white police tape was strung up between lampposts with officers stood in front of bridleways. Two men have been arrested in connection with the reported stabbing of a 37-year-old in Grangetown yesterday. Police and paramedics were called to Birchington Avenue in Grangetown, where the man was found with injuries to his head and arm. Cleveland Police have confirmed that two men, one aged 27 from the Marton area and a 34-year-old from Grangetown, have been arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding and are in police custody. (Image: TERRY BLACKBURN) The victim is a 37-year-old man. His injuries don't appear to be life threatening. A third person has been arrested following a "violent incident" at a Redcar bar. Cleveland Police has confirmed that a 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and remains in police custody. It follows an incident at the Peggy Junes Bar on Queen Street on Saturday (February 15) when a violent altercation broke out just after 8pm. Police confirmed on Sunday that a 33-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman had been arrested in connection with the incident, and were hunting for two other men believed to be involved. The force has today (February 17) confirmed that a third arrest has been made in connection, while the other two arrested remain in custody. Two men have died after a horror crash on the A66. The two men, aged 41 and 84, were both pronounced dead at the scene. The crash involving a black Nissan Qashqai and a red Vauxhall Astra happened on the eastbound carriageway at Long Newton just after 9pm on Tuesday (February 11) evening. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the road was closed, and motorists were urged to avoid the area. Paramedics attended but were unable to save either of the men. (Image: TERRY BLACKBURN) Their families are being supported by specialist officers. Crash investigators were seen working at the scene overnight and an investigation is underway. A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: 'The road was closed for over eight hours overnight whilst emergency services tried to save the men, and specialist officers carried out an investigation of the scene. (Image: TERRY BLACKBURN) 'Anyone with information on the circumstances prior to the collision or anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage is asked to call 101 quoting reference number 25064.' The road reopened at about 6am on Wednesday (February 12), National Highways confirmed. The Cleveland Fire Brigade said four fire engines from Thornaby and Stockton attended. A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service added: "We were called to a serious road traffic incident involving two vehicles on the A66 at Long Newton at 9.05pm last night, Tuesday 11 February. "We dispatched three double crewed ambulances, a duty officer, a specialist paramedic, a clinical team leader and we were supported by the medical response car from Great North Air Ambulance."
