Carol Kirkwood says 'they're my own mistakes' as she talks misconception on BBC Breakfast
Meteorologist Carol Kirkwood addressed a common misconception about her appearance on BBC Breakfast, following a discussion about potentially stepping back from her duties BBC Breakfast 's weather presenter Carol Kirkwood has revealed she has no help with her on-screen wardrobe choices, contrary to what viewers might assume. The 63-year-old was seemingly taken aback by the assumption of her having a stylist, and humorously described her fashion decisions as her "own mistakes". During an appearance on BBC Radio 2 's Tracks Of My Years, host Gary Davies said: "You just look like summer has arrived, every single morning, you do and that's why I think we all love you." Curious about her outfit choices, he then asked: "How do you decide what to wear every day, is this all you or do you have a team?". Carol responded with a chuckle: "You're having a laugh, a team to sort out my outfits? "No, it's all me and often it's what's ironed, what's washed and what's clean, 'Lovely, that'll do', because it's not a fashion show for me. "I don't want to be what you talk about rather than the weather, because my job is the weather and it's an important message, so, nobody helps me, they're all my own mistakes." Carol also expressed her affection for her role and colleagues, both on and off-camera, adding: "We've known each other for donkeys years, so it's real friendship that you're witnessing." Since joining the BBC Breakfast crew in 1997, Carol has become the programme's longest-standing current presenter. Her expertise in meteorology has been recognised with multiple accolades, including a TRIC award for best TV Weather Presenter in 2003, 2008, 2009, and consecutively from 2012 to 2017. The meteorologist has also received Royal recognition from Princess Anne. In November 2015, she was reportedly honoured with an Honorary Fellowship by the Princess Royal for her "contributions to broadcasting" at Inverness College. That same year, viewers got to see a different side to her when she competed on Strictly Come Dancing, with former show professional Pasha Kovalev. During the competition, she was praised for efforts, though finished in 10th place. Meanwhile, Carol recently made it clear that she has no intention of retiring any time soon. When asked about the possibility of stepping back, she told Radio Times Magazine: "Don't say that; you'll get me sacked! And I love my job; I can't imagine not doing it. "There will be a day, obviously, when that happens, but for now I still love the weather. Each day is different, you know? "We're an island, and the weather changes all the time, so it's always interesting." BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.

She's had a stellar week after scooping the Daytime gong at the TRIC Awards. And Laura Hamilton showed off her incredible figure as she took to some time to unwind in a hot tub after finishing up at day two of the InstallerSHOW in Birmingham. The TV presenter, 43, looked incredible as she posted a sizzling Instagram Story in a blue bikini on Thursday. 'And chill...' she penned on top of the post. Earlier in the day, Laura informed her followers she was at the trading event after her win at the TRIC Awards the night before. Walking around the event in a bright yellow cardigan, she said: 'It is day two of the InstallerSHOW. 'So, last night after winning the TRIC award for best daytime TV show, probably going to be going on about this for a little while, as you can imagine, I jumped on the train and came up to Birmingham back to the NEC (National Exhibition Centre).' She continued: 'I am here for the next two days now on the Workie stand which is CD50 challenging people on the working wire and sharing lots of information about the launch of this brand new app.' InstallerSHOW is a trade show focused on installation technology, particularly in the heat, water, air, and energy sectors. It's a key event for people in the industry to discover new products, connect with manufacturers, and learn about trends. The 2025 is held at the NEC in Birmingham from June 24 to 26, with over 800 exhibitors. It comes after Laura led the glamour at the annual TRIC Awards on Tuesday. Ensuring she caught the eye, Laura opted in a canary yellow gown with a distinctive cinched detail. The TV presenter completed the distinctive look with cream heels and a matching leather handbag. This year's ceremony was hosted by Dan Walker, who also serves as President of the Television and Radio Industries Club. One million public votes were counted before nominations for the Television and Radio Industries Club Award were released in May. In the Daytime category, A Place In The Sun secured the win as it triumphed over Escape To The Country, Richard Osman's House Of Games and This Morning. Best Drama went to Call The Midwife as it won over All Creatures Great And Small, Baby Reindeer and Bridgerton. 24 Hours In Police Custody beat Freddie Flintoff's Field Of Dreams On Tour, The Martin Lewis Money Show Live and The Repair Shop in the Factual category. It was a day to celebrate for Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks after their podcast Staying Relevant triumphed against Begin Again with Davina McCall, Sh**ged. Married. Annoyed, and That Peter Crouch Podcast. While in the Food category fan favourite The Great British Bake Off came out on top in a strong category with Great British Menu, James Martin Saturday Morning and MasterChef. As for the Game Show award, there's Ant & Dec's Limitless Win, Michael McIntyre's The Wheel, The 1% Club and The Chase were nominated and it was Lee Mack's The 1% Club which grabbed the gong. Six Nations Rugby won best Live Sport and GB News Breakfast took home the prize in the news category. Charlie Peters took home best News presenter as he went head to head with Dan Walker, Fiona Bruce and Susanna Reid. As for the Radio Presenter award Jordan North was named number one against Ally McCoist, Simon Mayo and Vernon Kay. Clarkson's Farm, which has just seen season four released, grabbed the gong in the Entertainment category over Gavin And Stacey, I'm A Celebrity.... Get Me Out Of Here! and The Traitors. While Strictly Come Dancing and Loose Women were dealt a brutal blow, with both shows among a series of high profile snubs to not even be nominated. The Radio Show category featured Capital Breakfast with Jordan North, Chris Stark & Sian Welby, Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden, Rylan on Sunday and White & Jordan. But it was Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden that won the award. The Soap Actor award went to EastEnders' Steve McFadden who plays Phil Mitchell while EastEnders also received the honour of Soap Of The Year. He beat other nominees Barney Walsh who stars as Cam Mickelthwaite in Casualty, Beth Cordingly who plays Ruby Fox-Milligan in Emmerdale and Jack P Shepherd who portrays David Platt in Coronation Street. TV Personality went to Bradley Walsh as he pipped Alison Hammond, Ant & Dec and Martin Lewis to the post. OK! Ant and Dec dealt huge triple blow at TRIC Awards 2025 as winners revealed in full
The TRIC Awards 2025 was held in London last night but it was not a successful night for the Geordie presenting duo. The TRIC Awards made a comeback on Tuesday evening with Britain's biggest TV stars arriving at Grosvenor House in London for the red carpet event. The star studded event was hosted by TRIC President Dan Walker and the audience were also treated to a performance by Magic Radio's Lemar. While it was an excellent night celebrating the success of some of the biggest names in showbiz, there were two people who were dealt a huge blow on the evening after they were snubbed for multiple awards which were decided on by the UK public. Presenting duo Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are used to winning awards thanks to their wit and hilarious friendship. However, this year the beloved hosts were snubbed from the Entertainment, Gameshow, and TV Personality categories. Ant and Dec had been nominated for I'm A Celebrity.. Get Me Out Of Here! in the Entertainment category and Limitless Win in the game show category, the Mirror reports. They pair also lost out to Bradley Walsh in the TV Personality category. Eamonn Holmes booed and heckled on stage at TRIC Awards ceremony
Eamonn was on stage collecting an award when the incident happened. Eamonn Holmes attended Tuesday's Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) awards where he collected an award on behalf of GB News Breakfast - however, things got a big awkward. The 65-year-old presenter used a wheelchair ramp to make his way to the stage where he expressed gratitude to the production team and viewers after being handed the award for Best News Programme. However, after being announced as the winner, audible boos were heard from the crowd. Despite the frosty reaction, Eamonn delivered a sweet tribute to his fellow presenter Charli Peters, who had earlier won the News Presenter award for his investigative work on grooming gangs in the UK, writes The Mirror. However, as he brought his speech to a close, things became awkward after someone in the audience heckled for Eamonn to 'get off'. It remains uncertain whether Eamonn heard the heckling. He concluded his speech warmly, saying: 'For the thousands of people who voted, that is brilliant for us so we say thank you, thank you, thank you, to anyone who did bother to vote." This marks the second year running that Eamonn has accepted the TRIC News award. Last year, he made his appearance with the aid of a walker and hinted at personal challenges, stating: 'So I got two things in my back that I didn't want,' seemingly referencing his medical procedure and his recent split from former co-host Ruth Langsford. Recently, concerns have been growing for Eamonn after he gave a worrying health update to his followers. He'd been seen using a wheelchair and crutches in public regularly, sparking concern. The former This Morning star experienced a fall at home which left him fearing he was "dead". Eamonn described the incident as having the "sorest and most powerful" impact on his head, resulting in hospitalisation after the mishap at his residence. "I was very worried about me. [I] fell on the bathroom floor and once I was down, I couldn't get up," he recounted. Elsewhere at the TRIC ceremony, former Love Island star Tasha Ghouri shared her thoughts on her career direction following her recent split from Andrew Le Page, whom she met on the ITV2 dating show in 2022. The couple, who made it to the Love Island final, ended their relationship after more than two and a half years together. The 26 year old said she is focusing on developing her presenting career rather than returning to reality dating shows. 'It's not for me personally,' Tasha admitted, referring to programs like Love Island: All Stars or Celebs Go Dating. She added: 'I know people find love on these shows but my dating shows are closed. I'm going down a different path now. It's something I'm really passionate about. I'm happily single but I'm open to love. I'd love a family.'
