Carol Kirkwood says 'they're my own mistakes' as she talks misconception on BBC Breakfast
BBC Breakfast 's weather presenter Carol Kirkwood has revealed she has no help with her on-screen wardrobe choices, contrary to what viewers might assume. The 63-year-old was seemingly taken aback by the assumption of her having a stylist, and humorously described her fashion decisions as her "own mistakes".
During an appearance on BBC Radio 2 's Tracks Of My Years, host Gary Davies said: "You just look like summer has arrived, every single morning, you do and that's why I think we all love you."
Curious about her outfit choices, he then asked: "How do you decide what to wear every day, is this all you or do you have a team?".
Carol responded with a chuckle: "You're having a laugh, a team to sort out my outfits?
"No, it's all me and often it's what's ironed, what's washed and what's clean, 'Lovely, that'll do', because it's not a fashion show for me.
"I don't want to be what you talk about rather than the weather, because my job is the weather and it's an important message, so, nobody helps me, they're all my own mistakes."
Carol also expressed her affection for her role and colleagues, both on and off-camera, adding: "We've known each other for donkeys years, so it's real friendship that you're witnessing."
Since joining the BBC Breakfast crew in 1997, Carol has become the programme's longest-standing current presenter.
Her expertise in meteorology has been recognised with multiple accolades, including a TRIC award for best TV Weather Presenter in 2003, 2008, 2009, and consecutively from 2012 to 2017.
The meteorologist has also received Royal recognition from Princess Anne.
In November 2015, she was reportedly honoured with an Honorary Fellowship by the Princess Royal for her "contributions to broadcasting" at Inverness College.
That same year, viewers got to see a different side to her when she competed on Strictly Come Dancing, with former show professional Pasha Kovalev.
During the competition, she was praised for efforts, though finished in 10th place.
Meanwhile, Carol recently made it clear that she has no intention of retiring any time soon.
When asked about the possibility of stepping back, she told Radio Times Magazine: "Don't say that; you'll get me sacked! And I love my job; I can't imagine not doing it.
"There will be a day, obviously, when that happens, but for now I still love the weather. Each day is different, you know?
"We're an island, and the weather changes all the time, so it's always interesting."
BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.

Rylan Clark says 'I actually got pretty worried' as he shares intimate confession
Rylan Clark has opened up about his sex life and relationships, admitting he has a 'worry' when it comes to being intimate with someone after the breakdown of his marriage Rylan Clark has opened up about a personal "worry" following the end of his marriage, revealing how it's affected his approach to new relationships. The BBC Radio 2 presenter parted ways with his ex-husband, Dan Neal, in 2021. This revelation comes after Rylan admitted to being unfaithful earlier in their relationship. Despite acknowledging that the split was "the right thing to happen," he admits to experiencing a "full-on breakdown" post-separation. Now, the one-time X Factor contestant is dipping his toes back into the dating pool—yet he's noticed a significant shift in his feelings toward intimacy with other men. On his podcast How to Be in Love, Rylan, 36, shared: "I have found that, since the breakdown of my marriage, if I've gone on any dates or started seeing people, when I've had sex with them, I lose interest pretty quickly." He continued, expressing his concerns: "I actually got pretty worried about a year or two ago because I thought, hang on a minute, I don't remember this from BM—I call it, before marriage. I don't remember having sex with someone, or orgasming with someone, climaxing, and then after that thinking, 'Oh, I'm just not bothered now'." Neuroscientist Dr Tara Swart weighed in on Rylan's situation, suggesting that the emotional trauma from his marriage could be influencing his current feelings post-intimacy. She responded: "So now that you've put it like that—with the BM—that probably, because you were so hurt, something has changed for you." The former Celebrity Big Brother champ shared his fears about commitment, saying: "I did worry for a long time that, almost like I was frightened to commit or open myself fully to someone, because going through a break-up is quite hard." Rylan has been open about feeling like a "failure" following his divorce. In a heart-to-heart with ex-Love Island star Tasha Ghouri, he confessed: "When I went through my divorce, I had a full-on breakdown because it wasn't just us." He continued, revealing the weight of public perception: "It felt like it wasn't just us, even though it was just me and my ex. I felt that everyone's going to think this of me. Everyone's going to think, 'Oh look, his life isn't perfect. Oh look, he's failed like that.' I just felt like a failure." In a candid chat with Stephen Fry, Rylan expressed how he grappled with the public scrutiny during his split, admitting: "There was part of me that just felt like a complete and utter failure. I felt like I'd failed personally, but I felt like I'd failed publicly on behalf of—the gays! You know, I'm not, I'm not 'head gay', it's not that." Looking ahead to future romance, Rylan opened up in his autobiography, TEN: The Decade That Changed My Future, where he reflects: "I got in a relationship quite young and just went with it. Now I know I'm my own person. I'm not going to settle for something that's not right. In a way, it's been a bit of a gift. "I'm happy to have sex with someone and that's that, that's not a problem. But do I want more? Of course I want more. Am I going to enjoy myself on the way? Abso-f***ing-lutely."

Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson get cosy at new Naked Gun movie premiere
Baywatch icon Pamela Anderson and Taken star Liam Neeson looked picture perfect at the London premiere of The Naked Gun as the Hollywood icons walked the red carpet Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson got close and cosy on the red carpet for the premiere of their new movie, The Naked Gun. The Baywatch star, 58, looked out of this world in a strapless purple gown with a flowing train as she joined Liam, 73, in London ahead of the film's release on August 1. She completed her outfit with dazzling jewellery and her usual glowing no-makeup look. Taken star Liam looked handsome in a grey suede suit, a black T-shirt, and black dress shoes. They looked comfortable as they held onto each other on the red carpet, with Pamela giving Liam a smooch on the cheek. Liam had his arm around her waist as she reached up to kiss him while putting her arm on his back for support. The two appeared to be in a world of their own as they posed for snaps and gazed at each other. Other stars at the premiere include Strictly Come Dancing's Nadiya Bychkova, Joe Blackman, The Only Way Is Essex's Junaid Ahmed and Michelle Heaton. The Naked Gun stars Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Busta Rhymes, Liza Koshy and Cody Rhodes were also in attendance. The Naked Gun was originally created by Jim Abrahams and brothers David and Jerry Zucker. The plot centres a passionate police detective enduring many comical mishaps. The 2025 instalment is directed by Akiva Schaffer and produced by Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins. Liam recently joked that filming the 'sex scenes' with Pamela was his favourite part of filming the latest instalment. He also commented on having an intimacy coordinator on set. "I'd never had one before. But she was in the background. There was no kind of, 'OK! Excuse me!'," he said. Pamela, who plays a nightclub singer who goes to Police Squad for help after her brother is murdered, said the intimacy coordinator knew when to walk away. She joked that the staff member stormed off as Liam claimed she was exasperated and said: "I can't take this! This is too hot for me. I'm going for coffee." Liam and Pamela had nothing but compliments for each other, with Liam previously telling People that he was "madly in love" with the former Playboy cover star. "She's just terrific to work with," he said. "I can't compliment her enough, I'll be honest with you. No huge ego. She just comes in to do the work. She's funny and so easy to work with. She's going to be terrific in the film." And last month, Pamela said: "Our chemistry was clear from the start. We have the utmost respect for one another. I invited him and his assistant over for romantic dinners with me and my assistant so our relationship stayed 'professionally romantic' during filming."

The BBC Radio 2 presenter parted ways from former husband Dan Neal in 2021. This followed Rylan's admission that he had been unfaithful during an earlier period of their relationship. Whilst he believes it was the "right thing to happen," Rylan revealed he experienced a "full-on breakdown" following the separation. The former X Factor contestant is now prepared to pursue love once more, reports the Manchester Evening News. However, he's observed a significant shift in his behaviour when becoming intimate with other men. On his How to Be in Love podcast, the 36-year-old shared: "I have found that, since the breakdown of my marriage, if I've gone on any dates or started seeing people, when I've had sex with them, I lose interest pretty quickly. I don't remember having sex with someone, or orgasming with someone, climaxing, and then after that thinking, 'Oh, I'm just not bothered now'." Neuroscientist Dr Tara Swart reckons the aftermath of his marriage breakdown may have affected Rylan's post-intimacy emotions. She responded: "So now that you've put it like that, with the BM, that probably, because you were so hurt, something has changed for you." To which the former Celebrity Big Brother winner responded: "I did worry for a long time that, almost like I was frightened to commit or open myself fully to someone, because going through a break-up is quite hard."
