Identified as a staff member of Timberland Medical Centre (TMC), she recounted the event to TMC cardiologist Dr Tang Sie Hing, who shared the story on his Facebook page today after a 10-day search to identify the good Samaritan. 'She was on the same flight as Mr Law, travelling from Sibu (AirAsia) to Kuching, she saw Mr Law collapsed and immediately she and a male doctor together with other allied health professionals took turns to do CPR. He added that three shocks were delivered using the airport's automated external defibrillator (AED) before medical assistants and nurses arrived at the scene. Mr Law was then rushed to Sarawak General Hospital. According to Dr Tang, the woman has chosen to remain anonymous and declined any recognition or praise. 'She wishes to remain anonymous. I respect her wishes. I hope this ends the journey of looking for this awesome lady,' he said. The woman was widely hailed as a hero for her swift action in administering CPR and using the AED on 55-year-old Mr Law around 11.30am on April 30.

Family of heart attack victim wants to meet woman who helped save his life

KUALA LUMPUR: The family of a 55-year-old man who suffered a heart attack recently is hoping to meet the woman who performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him and helped save his life. The woman is said to have gone to the rescue when the man collapsed at the domestic arrival hall at Kuching International Airport on Wednesday (April 30). In a video that has since gone viral, the rescuer in a striped blouse and black shorts is seen kneeling over an unresponsive man, performing CPR as airport personnel look on. In a Facebook post on Saturday (May 3), cardiologist Dr Tang Sie Hing said the man's family hopes to meet the woman. "(His) family members have asked me to publish this... to contact the young woman who performed immediate CPR at the domestic arrival hall at Kuching International Airport at 11.30am on April 30. "The man, who is from Sibu, had complained of chest pain and stomach ache for three days after a recent trip to China. "He boarded a flight from Sibu to Kuching, travelling alone. "When he landed in Kuching and exited the domestic arrival hall, he suddenly collapsed and the woman walking behind him immediately started performing CPR. "She continuously provided CPR for 30 minutes and assisted in the use of the automated external defibrillator," he said. Dr Tang said the man was then taken to a hospital, where it was found that he had a near-fatal cardiac event. "A coronary angiogram showed two of his vessels were 100% blocked and an ad hoc coronary angioplasty was done. "He heart has now been stabilised. "He has regained full consciousness and has suffered no neurological deficit. "His family members and friends express their heartfelt gratitude to the woman for her timely effort. "Without her intervention, the outcome would be unimaginable," he said. Dr Tang urged anyone who might know the woman to reach out, as they want to thank her. Anyone with details or who knows the woman can contact Ngu (013-804 6882).

CPR training pays off: woman saves man's life at Kuching airport

Published on: Saturday, May 03, 2025 Published on: Sat, May 03, 2025 Text Size: A screenshot of the viral video KUCHING: A young woman's quick thinking and knowledge of CPR saved the life of a 55-year-old man who collapsed at Kuching International Airport on April 30. Thanks to her solo effort in administering CPR for 30 minutes and using an automated external defibrillator (AED) at the scene, the man—identified as Mr Law from Sibu—was revived before emergency services arrived. Dr Tang Sie Hing, a cardiologist who later treated the patient, confirmed that her actions reversed a potentially fatal cardiac arrhythmia and kept Mr Law alive until further medical intervention could be done. 'She administered CPR continuously and applied two AED shocks that corrected his heart rhythm. Without her, the outcome would have been unimaginable,' said Dr Tang as quoted by DayakDaily. The man has since regained full consciousness with no neurological damage, and his family is now seeking to identify and thank the woman who saved him. * Follow us on Instagram and join our Telegram and/or WhatsApp channel(s) for the latest news you don't want to miss. * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
