Thanks to her solo effort in administering CPR for 30 minutes and using an automated external defibrillator (AED) at the scene, the man—identified as Mr Law from Sibu—was revived before emergency services arrived. Dr Tang Sie Hing, a cardiologist who later treated the patient, confirmed that her actions reversed a potentially fatal cardiac arrhythmia and kept Mr Law alive until further medical intervention could be done. 'She administered CPR continuously and applied two AED shocks that corrected his heart rhythm. Without her, the outcome would have been unimaginable,' said Dr Tang as quoted by DayakDaily. (EPA Images pic) BANGKOK: The Thai king's eldest daughter, gravely ill in hospital for more than two years, is receiving 'continuous' treatment to stabilise her blood pressure because of a severe infection, the palace said today. Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol has been unconscious in hospital since falling ill due to heart problems in December 2022 during a dog training session. Advertisement The Bureau of the Royal Household gave the first update on her condition in more than two years on Friday, saying she had suffered a 'severe' blood infection. A second update issued today said doctors were closely monitoring her condition. 'The medical team said that she remains in a state of low blood pressure, requiring continuous treatment,' the statement from the Bureau of the Royal Household said. 'Doctors are administering medication to stabilise her blood pressure, along with medical equipment and antibiotics to support kidney function and breathing.' Known in Thailand as 'Princess Bha', the 46-year-old is the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn and the only child from his first marriage. Educated in Britain, the US and Thailand, Bajrakitiyabha has held a number of positions with the United Nations and has campaigned for better treatment of women in prisons. She is seen as close to her father, and was appointed to a senior role in his bodyguard command a year before her hospitalisation. The 73-year-old king, who has seven children from four marriages, has not announced his chosen heir, though succession rules favour men. Most Sabah, Sarawak education and health demands agreed at MA63 technical meeting

Fadillah, who is also Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister, said the meeting was crucial as preparation for the MTPMA63 Meeting No. 1/2025, which will be chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Kuching on Sept 12. On education, he said agreements reached included state governments' involvement in the planning of education development projects, information sharing on the transfer of senior officers and allocation of funds for professional development programmes. 'As for healthcare, the meeting agreed to several demands, including increased allocations for operating and development expenditure, granting certain autonomous powers to State Health Directors, and strengthening human resources at the Health Departments of Sabah and Sarawak,' he said in a statement today. Fadillah added that other pending matters will continue to be discussed under the Joint Action Committee on Education and Health Development for Sabah and Sarawak, under the purview of the Education Ministry (MoE) and Health Ministry (MoH). In today's meeting, two briefing papers were also presented by the Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister's Department (BHEUU, JPM) and the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Ministry (NRES), which will be brought to the upcoming MTPMA63 meeting in Kuching for decision. 'Other unresolved demands will continue to be monitored by the Technical Committee under MTPMA63 as well as relevant ministerial-level working committees,' he said. School bullying forces girl to seek medication for depression and anxiety

IPOH – A father has opened up about his daughter's harrowing experience of being bullied online and at school, which pushed her into a severe state of depression and anxiety that required medication for her recovery. According to her father, Aniq Iskandar, 47, the Ipoh boarding school Form One student was relentlessly targeted through cruel messages on WhatsApp and Instagram during the Movement Control Order. The abuse later extended into her school life, where she was ostracised and humiliated. 'The cause of the incident was unclear until a misunderstanding occurred, which led her to being flooded with various messages from unknown numbers and accounts. It did not end there, as she was also ostracised and received negative stares once she returned to school,' he said. Aniq added that the situation worsened when the school failed to protect his daughter, despite being aware of the bully's identity. 'My daughter knew who her bully was, and in this case, when it was reported to the school, it seemed as though they sided with the bully because the perpetrator had connections with them,' he said. Struggling with her mental health, the young student was taken for private counselling where a psychiatrist diagnosed her with major depressive disorder and anxiety disorder. She was then prescribed medication to help with her recovery. 'With the specialist's advice, the decision to change schools and environment was the best step for her recovery and eventually brought a major improvement to her mental health,' Aniq said. Since moving to a new school, the once-withdrawn girl has transformed into a top student. She now shines in public speaking, serves as a moderator and has even represented her school at national and state-level competitions.
