IAF becomes more powerful after HAL makes deadly fighter plane, it can fire missiles 'nonstop' for... India is continuously modernising its fighter jets and recently HAL has developed Tejas Mk2 and gave an upgrade to IAF and its capabilities. Interestingly, PM Modi on Independence Day urged the young scientists, talented youth, engineers, professionals and all departments of the Government that India should have its own Made in India fighter jets, following the specular success in Operation Sindoor What is the new advancement? A new fuel system will be installed in this jet, which will also include additional fuel tanks. These upgrades will increase its flight distance so much that it will be able to attack enemy targets by penetrating deep. What is the new speciality of Tejas Mk2? The biggest feature of Tejas Mk2 is its increased fuel capacity, which makes it very different from Tejas Mk1. The internal fuel capacity of Tejas Mk2 is higher than Tejas Mk1. At the same time, three new external fuel tanks will be installed in this jet, which will further increase its total fuel capacity. These include one 1300-litre supersonic drop tank and two 1800-litre special 'pinched-waist' drop tanks. Thus, with all these tanks, Tejas Mk2 will have capacity of 6000-kg fuel. How will this technology change the game? This new technology will have a direct impact on Tejas Mk2. With this increased fuel capacity, the combat distance of Tejas Mk2 will increase to more than 1000 kilometers. This means that it will be able to attack enemy targets from a distance. Also, this jet can patrol continuously in the air for 3.5 hours. Apart from this, due to the in-flight refueling and oxygen production system, it can also do missions of up to 10 hours. In such a case, because of the higher fuel capacity, there will be no need to reduce the weapons on the jet, so that it will be able to go on the mission with its full firepower.

HAL Q1 Results 2025 Preview: Defence PSU may post 10% rise in PAT, 14% YoY revenue growth; Tejas Mk1a deliveries eyed

Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), the state-run defence company is set to announce its Q1 results on Tuesday. The meeting of the board of directors of HAL is scheduled on August 12 to consider and approve the financial results for the first quarter of FY26. HAL share price traded higher on Monday ahead of the announcement of the Q1 results 2025. HAL shares gained as much as 2.4% to an intraday high of ₹ 4,546.55 apiece on the BSE. The defence PSU is expected to report decent earnings growth, with revenue rising on the back of execution of the healthy order book, and margin expansion led by easing of supply chain issues. Hindustan Aeronautics is expected to report a 10% net profit growth at ₹ 1,579 crore in the June quarter as compared to a net profit of ₹ 1,435.6 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal year, according to Livemint poll of three brokerages. The company's revenue in Q1FY26 is estimated to grow 14% to ₹ 4,956 crore from ₹ 4,347.6 crore, year-on-year (YoY), led by the execution of the healthy order book of ₹ 1.8 lakh crore. Order inflows during the quarter are estimated to rise 17.8% to ₹ 5,300 crore from ₹ 4,500 crore, YoY. 'We expect healthy topline growth, underpinned by steady execution against a robust ₹ 1.8 trillion order book. Margins are likely to expand progressively, aided by increasing indigenization and easing supply chain bottlenecks. That said, we remain watchful of execution risks, particularly the adherence to Tejas Mk1 delivery timelines and the timely receipt of additional GE 404 engines,' said Krishna Doshi, Defence Analyst at Ashika Institutional Equities. At the operational level, brokerage firm Nomura expects EBITDA to increase 11.4% to ₹ 1,107 crore from ₹ 993.8 crore, YoY, EBITDA margin to remain flat YoY. It expects other income to grow 18% YoY and depreciation expenses to remain flat. Motilal Oswal Financial Services (MOFSL) expects HAL's Q1 revenue growth of 21% YoY, driven by a healthy execution of the opening order book of ₹ 1.8 lakh crore. It expects EBITDA margin to expand by 120 basis points (bp YoY, aided by increased indigenization and easing of supply chain issues. 'The execution of huge backlog, incremental inflows, and comfortable margin levels will be the key focus areas. Key monitorables include the status of Tejas Mk1a deliveries and Su-30 avionics upgrade project, any major deviation in provisions created, and the working capital cycle,' MOFSL said The brokerage firm has a 'Buy' rating on HAL shares and increased its target price slightly to ₹ 5,750 per share. Hindustan Aeronautics share price formed a mother bar with a high of ₹ 5,165 and low of ₹ 4,420 on the week of May 12, 2025, noted Anshul Jain, Head of Research at Lakshmishree. 'For the past 12 weeks, HAL share price has traded largely within this range, creating a mini coil pattern, reflecting indecision and compression in price action. A failure by bears to sustain below ₹ 4,420 will likely trigger short covering, propelling the stock toward the mother bar high of ₹ 5,165. Conversely, a decisive breakdown below ₹ 4,380 will open the door for a deeper decline toward the ₹ 4,000 zone,' Jain said. According to him, the current pattern demands close monitoring for directional clarity. HAL share price has fallen 8% in one month, but has rallied 22% in the past six months. The PSU defence stock has risen 7% on a year-to-date (YTD) basis, while it has jumped 135% in two years. HAL share price has delivered multibagger returns of 775% over the past five years. At 3:15 PM, HAL share price was trading 0.11% higher at ₹ 4,444.90 apiece on the BSE. Air Force chief flags delays in defence systems, says ‘contract signed knowing systems will never come'

India's Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh on Thursday, May 29, flagged delays in procurement of defence systems, saying that several contracts have been signed knowing that the projects will not be delivered. Speaking at CII Annual Business Summit, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh said, 'Many times, we know while signing contracts that those systems will never come. Timelines are a big issue. Not a single project I can think of is completed on time.' 'Why should we promise something that cannot be achieved?' he asked. Referring to the contract signed in February 2021 for 83 Tejas Mk1A fighter jets worth ₹ 48,000 crore with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the Air Chief stated that deliveries were scheduled to begin in March 2024. However, not a single aircraft has been delivered to date, he said. Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh said the delay affected several projects. 'Deliveries of Tejas Mk1 are delayed. The prototype of Tejas Mk2 is yet to roll out. There is no prototype yet of the stealth AMCA fighter,' NDTV quoted the Air Chief Marshal as saying. The Air Chief Marshal said, 'We have to be now-ready to be future-ready. In 10 years, we will have more output from industry, but what we need today, we need today. Tejas MK1 Fighter Jet: The indigenous Tejas fighter jet has added significant strength to the Indian Air Force (IAF). The process to upgrade the Tejas Mk1 combat aircraft will soon commence, enabling it to compete with modern fighter jets. Work on upgrading the Tejas Mk1 fighter jet will start in 2026. It will be upgraded in a phased manner. It should be noted that this is India's indigenous fighter jet, which will be made more powerful through upgrades. The upgrade programme is set to begin in 2026, as Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has planned to develop the Tejas Mk1 fleet starting that year. A total of 40 Tejas Mk1 aircraft will be upgraded, comprising 32 single-seat fighters and 8 twin-seat trainers. The upgrade process includes avionics, radar, electronic warfare systems, and weapon systems. For instance, the old ELM-2032 multimode radar may be replaced with the ELM-2052 AESA radar. Along with the upgrade, the Tejas Mk1 aircraft will also undergo an overhaul. This will ensure that these fighter jets remain relevant in modern warfare for a long time. What is an overhaul? An overhaul means a comprehensive inspection of the machinery and systems of any fighter jet, followed by its repair. Damaged or defective parts of the jet are removed and new, latest parts are installed. Why is Tejas MK1 special? Tejas MK1 is India's indigenous light fighter aircraft. It has been developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). It is a 4.5 generation multi-role supersonic jet. It is capable of both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. The Tejas Mk1A is equipped with over 62% indigenous materials.

New Delhi: The Tejas series of fighter jets, which is considered to be the symbol of India's pride, with the Tejas Mk1 frequently making headlines for its remarkable performance and capabilities. Now, to strengthen India's defense sector, the Tejas Mk2 fighter jet is also under development. The company building it, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), is working in collaboration with the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA). HAL has now shared the timeline for its development and delivery. So, let's find out when the Tejas Mk2 will be inducted into the Indian Air Force. Here are some of the key details: According to the reports, the first prototype of the Tejas Mk2 will be ready by the end of 2025. Its first take-off test will happen in 2026. During ground testing, engine runs, low-speed and high-speed taxi trials will be conducted. Tejas Mk2 is expected to receive Basic Essential Operational Clearance by 2028. The production will begin in 2028–2029. The target is to start deliveries to the Indian Air Force from 2032. The special feature of this fighter jet is that it is an indigenously developed combat aircraft. The Tejas Mk2 will initially have 82 percent indigenous components. After the licensed production of the engine begins, it will be considered 90 percent indigenous. This project will strengthen the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India). How many orders could be placed? In the initial phase, an order for 120 Tejas Mk2 fighter jets will be placed. The order is likely to increase to 180 units by 2035. The Indian Air Force aims to induct 200 Tejas Mk2 aircraft into service by the year 2040. These fighter jets will replace older aircraft like the Jaguar, Mirage 2000, and MiG-29. What are the features of the Tejas Mk2 fighter aircraft? The Tejas Mk2 will be a 4.5-generation fighter aircraft. This means it will be more advanced than the Tejas Mk1, but slightly behind the fifth-generation AMCA which is under development. The Tejas Mk2 will be equipped with a powerful F414-INS6 engine, AESA radar, and advanced weaponry. Some reports claim that the Tejas Mk2 will feature a cockpit compatible with night vision goggles, enabling it to target enemies even in darkness.
