Britain's Got Talent winner makes eyebrow raising remark about Bruno Tonioli
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Britain's Got Talent's first-ever champion, opera singer Paul Potts, has opened up about his views on the current judging panel, which includes Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, and Bruno Tonioli. Reflecting on his victorious performance of Nessun Dorma back in 2007, which wowed judges Simon, Amanda, and then-judge Piers Morgan, Paul remarked that Simon and Amanda have remained "pretty much the same" over the years. "Simon and Amanda have been constants – Amanda's been there for every single series, and Simon only missed one. They're both very straightforward in how they do things," he said. He fondly recalled an incident where his wife and her sister serenaded him with Alesha's hit 'The Boy Does Nothing' in perfect harmony, a story he later shared with Alesha herself, who "In fact, my wife and her sister once sang 'The Boy Does Nothing' [Alesha's song] in perfect unison to me, and I told Alesha about it. She loved that." Paul also commented on the newest addition to the panel, Bruno Tonioli, known for his exuberant personality. "As for Bruno, sometimes he needs a bit of reining in, but he's getting into the flow of things," Paul observed, adding humorously, "I don't think he'll ever stop jumping up and down, though!" In partnership with Sky Vegas, the 54 year old expressed his belief that Bruno has comfortably "settled" into his role as a judge and seems set to "stick around for a while. "Overall, the panel is really good. You definitely need someone with energy, and he's certainly got that," he remarked. As it happened, this year saw Bruno and Simon step aside occasionally, paving the way for KSI to fill in due to other commitments, reports Belfast Live. Subsequently, there's been chatter about KSI securing a more permanent seat at the judges' table. Familiar with the ins and outs of the show, Paul hasn't dismissed the idea of himself taking on a judging role down the line. Reflecting on how he'd fare as a judge, he continued, "I wouldn't want to become the new 'bad guy' like Simon Cowell or anything like that. That's not my style. But when I've been on judging panels before, I've always been straightforward – never rude or abrupt." Stacey Leadbeatter triumphed in last week's public vote with her knockout performance of Demi Lovato's "Anyone", assuring her spot alongside semi-final week one winner Vinnie McKee, and golden buzzer acts Olly Pearson and The Blackouts. Tonight's third semi-final will see performances from gymnast Albert Amores, daredevil Bao, vocal groups Electric Umbrella and Jasmine Rice, soloist Mickey Callisto, dance duos Harry and Lewis, and Ping Pong Pang, capped by tunes from Rumac, all vying for a final slot. Looking towards the final, Paul has hinted that fan-admired Stacey might need to make wiser song choices moving forward. "I'm all for choosing songs that aren't as well-known, since we tend to overdo the same songs, but the arrangement either needed more energy or the song itself needed to be better," he expressed. "Demi Lovato is a huge artist, but the performance just didn't have enough energy to really stand out. With a performance like that, I don't think it'll be enough to win the show." He continued: "Singers often have a tougher time in the final because there's this perception that there are too many of them, and sometimes it's unfairly suggested that singing isn't a 'real' talent – which, of course, it absolutely is."

BGT's Alesha Dixon addresses 'intense' time on Strictly and real reason why she quit
BGT's Alesha Dixon addresses 'intense' time on Strictly and real reason why she quit Alesha Dixon set the record straight about moving from Strictly Come Dancing to Britain's Got Talent, after an "intense" time on the BBC show Alesha Dixon opened up about the 'lowest point' in her life Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon has opened up about her experience on Strictly Come Dancing, as a contestant and a judge. The 46-year-old won the BBC show with her professional dance partner Matthew Cutler back in 2007. Two years later, she joined the panel as a judge, replacing Arlene Phillips. Alesha said while she never wanted to do a reality show, she made the "difficult" decision after experiencing the "lowest point" in her life. Article continues below Just months before, the singer's first marriage to Michael Harvey, best known as MC Harvey, came to an end after one year. To make matters worse, she also lost her record deal before an "amazing producer" name Brian Higgins approached her to do some song writing. During these sessions, Alesha wrote her song The Boy Does Nothing, which later became her biggest hit, selling over one million copies worldwide. After David Walliams described her career turnaround as a "magic moment" for her on the Making A Scene podcast, Alesha recalled feeling support from her fans. Alesha Dixon shared the real reason why she quit Strictly Come Dancing "I could feel the energy at the time, and that really was what kind of got me through as well, because it was a very emotionally challenging time," she shared. "Being in Strictly as well, it enabled me to just be in this bubble." Alesha said things later became "intense" for her when she became a judge on the panel, and received backlash over the decision. "To be honest, it was quite heavy at the time and I thought, why have I said yes to this? I didn't sign up for this," she shared. "But, it ended up being well in the end, it was just a storm in a teacup that I needed to get through." After her stint as a judge came to an end after three series, she moved on to join Britain's Got Talent. While it was rumoured at the time that Simon Cowell had "poached" her from the BBC, she said this wasn't the case. She explained: "They thought that Simon had poached me from the BBC, but I'd actually already made the decision to leave Strictly. "I always knew I was only going to do three years on the show." Quizzed further about her decision to leave, she added: "Because I didn't feel like I wanted to settle there, I wanted the experience of it, but I felt like I wanted to move on and try something new. Article continues below "I enjoy Britain's Got Talent so much, which is why I've been there for so long." Britain's Got Talent continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX.

Alesha Dixon's children embarrassed by her fame
Alesha Dixon's children are embarrassed by her fame. The 46-year-old TV star has two daughters, Azura, 11, and Anaya, five, but rather than be impressed that their mother was a member of girl group Mis-Teeq, was a winner of 'Strictly Come Dancing' and is a judge on 'Britain's Got Talent', they find her career cringe-inducing. When asked what they think of having a famous mum, Alesha replied: 'I don't think they like that. I think 11 year olds find it a little bit embarrassing.' And Alesha's kids don't like her singing at home, despite her pop star past with Mis-Teeq and as a solo artist with singles like 'The Boy Does Nothing'. Appearing on the 'Making A Scene' podcast, she said: "I get told to be quiet all the time. I'm not allowed to join in!' Azura and Anaya - whose father is dancer-and-choreographer Azuka Ononye - do watch Alesha on 'Britain's Got Talent' but they rarely agree with what she has to say to the acts. Alesha said: "They do watch 'Britain's Got Talent', they have a lot to say. There's a lot of opinions, they don't like a lot of the things I say or do, but that's natural with a child, they're embarrassed more than anything.' During her conversation on the podcast - which is hosted by comedy duo Matt Lucas and David Walliams, who sat on the 'BGT' judging panel with Alesha for 10 years - the 'Scandalous' singer also confessed she once had to summon the courage to appear on a breakfast TV show after going out for a heavy night of partying and had no choice but to mime to the song she was performing. She spilled: "I wasn't in Misteeq at the time, I was a solo artist and we were celebrating the end of a tour. "We had a big night out with all the crew, the dancers, and didn't sleep, literally went all night. And at 5.30am, my manager comes bursting through the door and goes, 'What are you doing? You're on 'Good Morning Britain' in, like, two hours.' "I was like, 'Don't worry about it,' and I literally rolled up to 'Good Morning Britain' and I mimed the song."
