Krysten Ritter to Return as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2
After many rumours, it appears Krysten Ritter is set to reprise her role as the hard-hitting, cynical private investigator Jessica Jones. She will officially join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming second season of Daredevil: Born Again. The news comes via Variety and its reporting from Disney's upfront presentation to advertisers in New York on Tuesday, where Ritter appeared alongside Charlie Cox, the star of the highly anticipated series. While it was expected, the move helps bridge the Netflix Marvel series with the current Marvel Cinematic Universe, which until now has felt very disconnected. Krysten Ritter, who first embodied the super-powered detective in the acclaimed Netflix series Jessica Jones starting in 2015, expressed her enthusiasm for returning to the character. 'It's so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and The Defenders and now joining the MCU,' Ritter said during the presentation. 'I'm so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!' Ritter's portrayal of Jones was one of the most iconic performances among the Netflix Marvel series, perfectly capturing the essence of a former superhero turned private investigator after a traumatic past. Jessica Jones was a cornerstone of Marvel's original slate of interconnected Netflix series, which also included Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Punisher, culminating in the somewhat disappointing team-up miniseries The Defenders. These shows concluded their runs on Netflix by 2019, as Disney prepared to launch its own streaming service, Disney+, the new home for Marvel Cinematic Universe content. It's great to see these characters return—even slowly—as Disney gradually reintroduces the beloved figures, with Daredevil: Born Again spearheading this new chapter. The first season, starring Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, debuted to mixed reviews on Disney+, with fans excited by the return, even if the season felt more like a taste of what was to come. Jon Bernthal is also confirmed to return as Frank Castle/The Punisher in the series, and work on the second season, which will feature Ritter's Jessica Jones, is already underway.

Luke Cage and Iron Fist Reportedly Returning For DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Season 2 — GeekTyrant
According to a new report from The Cosmic Circus, both Luke Cage and Danny Rand aka Iron Fist may appeare in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, which will reunite most of The Defenders lineup under the Marvel Studios banner. This news comes from a Q&A with Cosmic Circus insider Alex Perez, who suggested the team is being folded back into the evolving Marvel television landscape. He believes the entirety of The Defenders will appear in the show at some point. Jessica Jones is already invilved and is rumored to be helping Matt Murdock in his crusade, but when asked to tease Danny Rand's future, Perez said: 'You know that trope of the once-powerful character who, after an incident happens, decides to retire his mantle and refuses to have anything to do with it, until a younger protagonist type hero forces him out of his funk to become a mentor to the next-generation hero?' So, if this is true, it sounds like Marvel could be lining up a legacy-style passing of the torch. Whether that means a full-on recast, a soft reboot, or just Danny reluctantly training a new Iron Fist remains to be seen. As for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, the cast will see the return of Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio, and Krysten Ritter, alongside newcomers and returning characters like Margarita Levieva (Heather Glenn), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Wilson Bethel (Bullseye), Nikki M. James (Kirsten McDuffie), Genneya Walton (BB Urich), Clark Johnson (Cherry), Michael Gandolfini (Daniel Blake), Ayelet Zurer (Vanessa Fisk), and even Matthew Lillard in a currently undisclosed role. The second season of Daredevil: Born Again is expected to hit Disney+ in March 2026. With Marvel slowly reweaving its old Netflix threads into a new MCU tapestry, it will be interesting to see how they implement these characters into the story. (Source: The Cosmic Circus)

'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2: Krysten Ritter Back On The Case As Jessica Jones
Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again will soon welcome a familiar face, and it's none other than Jessica Jones. The superhero-turned-private eye is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), with original star Krysten Ritter reprising her role in the sequel series. The casting announcement was made during Marvel's segment of Disney's Upfront presentation, confirming earlier speculation of her homecoming. While specific details about the character's return remain under lock and key, her addition to the roster is certainly good news for fans of the show as it continues to introduce characters and actors from Netflix-era Marvel series into the MCU. 'It is so great to be back. Returning to Jessica after three seasons, and the Defenders and now joining the MCU. I am so excited to bring back this iconic character. Without giving too much away… there's much in store for Jessica Jones – this is going to be an incredible season,' said Ritter. The actor depicted Jones in the eponymous three-season show, which ran from 2015 to 2019 and saw the former superhero starting her own detective agency, Alias Investigations. She also appeared in 2017's The Defenders , a mini-series that assembled Daredevil, Jones, Luke Cage, and Danny 'Iron Fist' Rand to fend off criminal organisation the Hand. Daredevil: Born Again is the first Netflix-Marvel show to get a new but continued series under Disney+ and Marvel Studios. It was renewed for a second season in February, picking up after the cliffhanger of the first season that saw the Man Without Fear going underground and reaching out to allies in his battle against crime lord Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio), who has aggressively consolidated power, and his anti-vigilante task force. Jones, of course, is part of the alliance. Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is expected to debut sometime in early 2026. Krysten Ritter to return as Jessica Jones in ‘Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2
Marvel has officially confirmed that Krysten Ritter will reprise her role as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. The announcement was made during Disney's Upfront presentation in New York City, putting months of speculation to rest. Ritter, who originally portrayed the hard-edged private investigator in the Netflix series Jessica Jones from 2015 to 2019, expressed excitement about stepping back into the role. 'It is so great to be back,' she said on stage. 'Returning to Jessica after three seasons, and The Defenders, and now joining the MCU — this is going to be an incredible season.' Her return marks another step in Marvel Studios' ongoing integration of Netflix's former Marvel characters into the mainline Marvel Cinematic Universe. Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock, better known as Daredevil, made a high-profile return in Daredevil: Born Again, and Ritter's reappearance brings another fan-favorite into the fold. Season 1 of Born Again concluded with major developments, including Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk, now Mayor of New York, attempting to consolidate power through the Red Hook port. With Matt Murdock back in his red suit and aided by longtime allies Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Frank Castle, aka The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), the groundwork is laid for further conflict in Season 2. Cox also teased upcoming changes, including finally donning the iconic black Daredevil suit with the 'interlocking Ds' — a detail longtime fans have been awaiting. 'Season 2 is heading in a bold new direction,' he noted. With Ritter's return, Daredevil: Born Again expands its scope, reuniting key characters from Marvel's earlier Netflix era. Season 2 is currently in production.

Krysten Ritter Joins DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN As Jessica Jones
The return of the Netflix-era Marvel characters Matt Murdock, Wilson Fisk, Jon Bernthal, et al, in Daredevil: Born Again was a very welcome one. While those series had been believed de-canonized after a fashion, we knew at least Daredevil and Punisher could now appear in future MCU things. But why couldn't more of the heroes and villains pop up? They all live in New York after all. Well, for Born Again season two, we got one! Krysten Ritter will join the series, reprising her role as fan-fave hero, Jessica Jones. This news comes courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter. According to them, Marvel announced Ritter's return at their portion of Disney's upfront advertisers' call on Tuesday. Ritter, of course, portrayed the eponymous, superpowered private investigator in Jessica Jones for three seasons, between 2015 and 2019. She also co-headlined the team-up series The Defenders which ran for a single season. The series, and Ritter's performance specifically, garnered immediate acclaim with its fantastic first season. Subsequent seasons didn't quite capture the same magic, nor especially did The Defenders, despite its 'small-screen Avengers' vibe. However, as soon as Born Again season one ended with the promise of a Daredevil team taking on Wilson Fisk's corrupt mayorship, fans speculated other Netflix characters could show up. Marvel's head of television and animation, Brad Winderbaum, played coy with THR about the possible return of Mike Colter's Luke Cage or Finn Jones' Danny Rand and instead made sure to say 'It's about not rushing and telling the best story. Yes, it's exciting to think about characters interacting, but it's about the reasons why. At times we've done that very well, at times we've rushed. The story has to lead the path.' While Colter's Luke Cage was fairly well received, Jones' Iron Fist was not. I can definitely see a world where neither, both, or even just Luke Cage shows up in Born Again. Jones has gone on record recently saying he would love to be able to return to his character, so who knows? At least for now we can be happy that Ritter and Jessica Jones will cross paths with the Devil of Hell's Kitchen again on TV. Kyle Anderson is the Senior Editor for Nerdist.
