WWE SmackDown May 16: Triple H plants the seed for a feud between Jacob Fatu and Solo Sikoa
WWE SmackDown May 16: Solo Sikoa addressed the WWE Universe in the opening segment of WWE SmackDown and introduced them to Jeff Cobb, who made his debut at Backlash. He then took a dig at Roman Reigns, his cousin, for 'ruining' the family name by losing to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40 and vowed to rectify. This, however, did not go down well with Jacob Fatu. Jacob Fatu takes exception to Solo Sikoa's words Solo Sikoa projected himself as the leader and pride of his family on SmackDown and even implied that he was responsible for Jacob Fatu being the US Champion. 'The Samoan Werewolf' took exception to this and said that he plans to continue his reign with or without him. Solo then cut him short and asked him to show his loyalty to him again. Solo Sikoa got Jacob Fatu to say 'I love you Solo' but it didn't hit the same as it used to.#SmackDown This led to tension between the two men. LA Knight's music and the issues were seemingly forgotten. 'The Megastar' then pulled JC out of the ring and assaulted him for costing him the US title at Backlash. Jacob Fatu to turn face soon? Jacob Fatu has gotten over with the WWE Universe in virtually no time. As such, a face turn is on the cards. Given what happened on SmackDown, there is a strong chance of Solo Sikoa and JC eventually turning on him. This would lead to a long feud between Jacob Fatu and Solo, culminating in a match at a Premium Live Event.

WWE releases Braun Strowman in latest round of cuts: 3 reasons why ‘The Monster of Monsters' was an asset for the company
Braun Strowman, one of the popular names in the world of professional wrestling, was released from the WWE a few hours ago much to the shock of his ardent fans. This brought his second stint with the promotion, which started in 2022, to an end. He had previously worked with the company from 2015 to 2021. 'The Monster of Monsters' earned the love and respect of the WWE Universe with his strong in-ring and willingness to put over other wrestlers. Here is a look at why he will be missed. Braun Strowman made a menacing heel Strowman made his WWE debut nearly a decade ago as 'The Black Sheep' of the Wyatt Family and soon emerged as a monster heel. He initially squashed local talent in short matches and proved his mettle as a monster heel. His imposing physique and intense body language made these beatdowns look believable, which is the hallmark of good pro-wrestling. He in particular shared good chemistry with James Ellsworth during this time. Strowman could hang with the big guys Strowman accomplished what few have when he feuded with Roman Reigns during 2017 and scored a win over him. The big guy also put on brutal matches with the likes of Big Show and Brock Lesnar, proving that he could hang with A-list stars. Interestingly, he was cheered during his rivalry with the then 'Big Dog' despite being the villain. Strowman also added another feather to his cap when he beat the legendary Goldberg at WrestleMania 36 in 2020. He replaced Reigns in the match after due to medical reasons. He gave back to the company Braun Strowman was a true company guy who played an instrumental role in helping a couple of fast-rising superstars find a foothold in the industry. The 'Last Monster Standing' match with Bronson Reed is a shining example of his commitment to fostering young talent. Strowman sold his offence with conviction, making him look like a legitimate threat. Strowman also did the same for Jacob Fatu. This feud established 'The Samoan Werewolf' as a freak of nature and eventually paved the way for him to beat LA Knight for the US title at WrestleMania 41. Interestingly, apart from Braun Strowman the likes of Dakota Kai and Eddy Thorpe too were released as part of these cuts. For all the latest coverage on WWE, track updates here

(Eric Johnson/WWE via Getty Images) (WWE via Getty Images) Jacob Fatu is a WWE singles champion for the first time in his professional wrestling career. "The Samoan Werewolf" won a bruising match over LA Knight on Saturday to capture the WWE United States Championship on WrestleMania 41, Night 1 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Fatu, a longtime member of The Bloodline, brought the thunder from the opening bell, trading heavy, thudding offense with Knight for much of the early portions of the match. Business really picked up once Fatu trapped Knight into the corner of the ring, bashed him with repeated running hips, then nailed a Swanton Bomb from the top rope for the two-count. Advertisement In a slick rebound sequence, Knight countered another top-rope moonsault attempt with a BFT and nearly secured a three-count, however Fatu's arm darted out and grabbed the ropes to save him in the final moments. Fatu then kicked Knight from the top rope and hurled him backward onto the mat, before crushing him with back-to-back top-rope moonsaults to secure the match-ending pinfall. Fatu's victory makes the challengers 3-for-3 against the champions thus far at WrestleMania 41, Night 1, following earlier victories by Jey Uso and The New Day.
