Justin Baldoni's $400 million lawsuit against Blake Lively has been dismissed

A judge dismissed the $400 million countersuit Justin Baldoni brought against Blake Lively. Baldoni accused Lively of defaming him and seizing creative control of "This Ends With Us." Baldoni can still allege Ryan Reynolds tried to get his agent to drop him. It ends with a judge's 132-page opinion. US District Judge Lewis Liman on Monday tossed the $400 million countersuit Justin Baldoni brought against Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds. Baldoni's lawsuit, filed in federal court in New York, accused Lively, who was his "This Ends with Us" costar, of taking over his movie and trying to destroy his reputation. The lawsuit, which included his production company Wayfarer Studios and several publicists he worked with as plaintiffs, also alleged that Lively falsely accused him of sexual harassment to gain control over the film's creative direction and promotion. The case was combined with a separate lawsuit against The New York Times and Leslie Sloane, Lively's public relations representative. Baldoni accused Sloane of planting false stories in publications about him, and The New York Times of acting as a "conduit" for Lively's allegations that he sexually harassed her on set. Lively has alleged in a separate lawsuit and in a California Civil Rights Department complaint that Baldoni and his public relations representatives tried to smear her in the press. US District Judge Lewis Liman's Monday decision weighed whether Baldoni's allegations — and the evidence his lawyers collected in court filings — sufficiently proved that the defendants defamed him, and that Lively extorted him by threatening to withhold publicity for "This Ends With Us" unless the movie was made under her own creative vision. Over 132 pages, Liman wrote that Baldoni and his studio couldn't sufficiently prove their claims to bring the case to trial. "The Wayfarer Parties cannot recover for Lively's alleged actions to steal creative control of the film from Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties," he wrote. "Regardless of the propriety of these actions, they do not constitute civil extortion under California law." Lively's allegations against Baldoni — accusing him of sexual harassment, and of his production company violating her employment contract for "This Ends With Us" — still remain alive. Liman is weighing whether to dismiss Lively's lawsuit against Baldoni or let it proceed to trial. Monday's opinion did, however, leave a door open for Baldoni to renew allegations that Lively and Reynolds illegally tried to get WME — the talent agency that represents all three actors — to cut ties with him. According to Baldoni's attorneys, Reynolds approached a WME executive during the premiere of "Deadpool and Wolverine" and told him that Baldoni was a "sexual predator." The agency dropped Baldoni as a client shortly after Lively's complaint against him. A spokesperson for Baldoni didn't immediately return a request for comment from Business Insider. I don't know how she has any fans anymore. ‌ Blake Lively celebrates Justin Baldoni's huge move in dropping Taylor Swift subpoena ‌ 'First of all, we walked in and we're just like, looking around … I didn't even notice [Lively] at first. I'm just looking, shopping for my sister, and the way [Lively's] talking to the workers at the store was so rude." Claiming Blake wanted to know if there were items which 'hadn't been touched by other customers', she continued: 'She was like, 'I want a fresh one of these — one that wasn't touched by other customers. … Is there a private bathroom?'' Landon alleged that Blake, who is married to multi-millionaire, Ryan Reynolds, was 'ignoring' everyone, including her kids and her niece, as she chose the patches she wanted to add to her customised bag. Landon continued: 'I was like, 'Oh my God. People are working hard in stores like this and this is how you're treating them?' Like, you're being so entitled. 'And the second we walked out, it was clear that we were invading their space — it's a store, first of all. There's no sign that says you can't enter. She didn't block it off,' she added. 'And the second we leave, [Lively's] security guard comes and stands in front of the door. And now I'm at the corner of the street and the security guard is staring at me.' ‌ Landon concluded her post, claiming: 'If anyone is still a fan of Blake Lively, I think recheck your decision on that because she's not very nice to the common people." The Mirror has contacted Blake's reps for comment. ‌ After starring in This Ends With Us alongside Justin, Blake hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. The actress accused her co-star of sexual harassment while Justin countered sued, claiming defamation. However, in recently filed documents, Blake moved to drop a key claim tied to her 2024 lawsuit. The mum-of-four has requested to withdraw her claims of intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress against Justin. The filing came after the actor's legal team asked her to sign a HIPAA release for access to her medical and mental health records. Justin's attorney, Kevin Fritz, claimed Blake 'refuses to disclose the information and documents needed to disprove that she suffered any emotional distress' and is trying to keep the option of reviving the claims after discovery ends (via People.) Blake's legal team, Esra Hudson and Mike Gottlieb, responded to the development by stating, 'This is a routine part of the litigation process that is being used as a press stunt.' They also said that her legal team is 'preparing [the] case for trial by streamlining and focusing it,' while Justin's side is 'desperately seeking another tired round of tabloid coverage.'
