Berhampur: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan along with the state governor Hari Babu Kambhapati will attend the convocations of Berhampur University and Indian Institute Science Education and Research (IISER) Berhampur to be held on Saturday. States transport minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, higher education minister Suryabanshi Suraj and fisheries and animal resources development minister Gokulanand Mallick will grace the conventions in both the institutes as guests of honour. While Pradhan will deliver the convocation address in its 26 th convocation in Berhampur University,Kambhapati will deliver the convocation address in the IISERs fifth convocation. Both the institutes have made elaborate arrangements to hold the convocations. The institutes will hand over the degrees to their passing out students in the convocations. Before attending the convocation in Berhampur University at 11 AM, Pradhan is scheduled to visit Maa Budhi Thakurani temple here, one of the famous Shakti Shrine in the state to offer rituals and to attend the Triranga Yatra in Silk City, organised by the BJP's Ganjam district unit. Bhubaneswar: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's one-day visit to Bhubaneswar on June 20, two high-level meetings were held here on Tuesday to review preparedness for the event. Security officials held a meeting at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar, while Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja took stock of the preparedness at the State secretariat Lok Seva Bhawan. Senior ministers Suresh Pujari and Bibhuti Bhusan Jena inspected the Janata Maidan, the venue where Modi is scheduled to address a public meeting. 'We are prepared to welcome the Prime Minister. Apart from holding a roadshow and participate in a Triranga Yatra, the Prime Minister will also launch projects worth Rs 17,000 crore for Odisha,' Pujari told reporters. All arrangements were made for the attendance of over a lakh people at the gathering. Pujari said various cultural troupes will perform on the roadside between the airport and Janata Maidan. As per the schedule discussed in the meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary, the Prime Minister will depart from Kushinagar Airport in Uttar Pradesh at 2.05 pm on June 20 and reach Bhubaneswar Airport at 3.40 pm. The Prime Minister will then join a roadshow and reach the venue at 4.15 pm. He will return to Biju Patnaik International Airport at 5.50 pm. Thereafter, he will attend a mega public event at Janata Maidan. During the event, Modi will also unveil Odisha's 'Vision Document' and also launch several development and welfare schemes of the State government, an official said. Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena told reporters that the meeting regarding security arrangements for the Prime Minister's visit was held in the presence of the SPG.

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to participate in a Triranga Yatra and hold a roadshow before attending an event marking the first anniversary of the BJP's maiden government in Odisha on June 20. Though Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi's government completed one year in office on June 12, the administration is holding a week-long celebration which will culminate on June 20 with the Prime Minister's address. Modi had last year attended the swearing in ceremony of the Majhi government in Odisha. 'The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive at the airport here at about 3 pm from Bihar. He will participate in a Triranga Yatra and lead a roadshow from Biju Patnaik International Airport to Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar,' Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik told reporters here. Official sources said as part of the celebrations, Modi will address a large gathering and highlight the achievements of Odisha's BJP government. He may also speak on the plans for the State's development, said a senior leader, who attended a preparatory meeting at the BJP headquarters on Friday. The meeting was attended by Majhi, Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal, Deputy chief ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida and others. Modi will also unveil Odisha's Vision Document for the years 2036 and 2047. The State completes 100 years of its formation in 2036 while 2047 is the 100th year of India's Independence.

Dhenkanal: Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra flagged off Triranga Yatra here at Baji Chowk to thank the Indian armed forces for Operation Sindoor. The operation was India's response to Pakistan for the Pahalgam terror attack. Dhenkanal MP Rudra Narayan Pany, Parjang MLA Bibhuti Bhusan Pradhan and Kamakshyanagar MLA Satrughan Jena among others took part in the Yatra. They were joined by thousands of people who participated in the Tiranga Yatra. The participants raised patriotic slogans and lauded the bravery of the armed forces. Later, at a brief public meeting, Patra urged the people to boost the confidence of Army jawans and extend support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the fight against terrorism. He came down on Pakistan for promoting cross-border terrorism.
