Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Special programme implementation department minister Udhayanidhi Stalin said the initiative was kicked off in all 38 districts. "We have created a war room in GCC's headquarters to monitor the activities," he said, adding that the drive will also expand to colleges, hospitals, and schools in the next ten days. The drive was spearheaded by the newly established Clean Tamil Nadu Company Limited (CTCL), which aims to streamline the collection, recycling, and reuse of waste across state departments. Offices of district collectors, corporations, municipalities, panchayat unions, and various other departments participated in the effort, handing over pre-segregated waste including plastics, e-waste, metals, paper, glass, and unusable furniture. Udhayanidhi said the initiative must be a long-term one, seeking support from members of the public. Officials said all collected waste will be processed in the composting centres and will either be recycled or reused. The special projects department has also released guidelines to all govt offices to carry out cleaning drives every week and segregate the waste. Udhayanidhi said measures to improve the initiative, including funding, will be discussed. Earlier this week, the govt released a video on solid waste management awareness featuring actor Yogi Babu on waste segregation and disposal. MSID:: 121652283 413 |

DMK won't be intimidated by ED or Modi: Udhaya

Pudukottai: The central govt was trying to intimidate the DMK by weaponizing ED, but the state govt will not yield to those tactics, deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin said on Saturday. Later at a meeting, Udhayanidhi also alleged that Income Tax department and ED, which are all 'working for the BJP' have already started their 'election' work. Speaking to reporters after chairing a review meeting with district officials in Pudukottai, Udhayanidhi dismissed opposition claims regarding chief minister M K Stalin's participation in the NITI Aayog meeting chaired by the Prime Minister. He said it was to secure funds rightfully due to the state, and not out of fear of raids. "I have said many times that we will not be intimidated either by the ED or by Modi. The DMK was founded by Kalaignar and is a party of self-respect, rooted in the principles of Periyar. It is not a party with a servitude mindset. We have done nothing wrong, and therefore, there is no reason to fear," he said. Udhayanidhi said the chief minister has allocated Rs3.5 crore to revive construction of a multipurpose indoor stadium in the district sports complex in Pudukottai, for which construction began in 2015 but was stopped due to funding issues. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trade Bitcoin & Ethereum – No Wallet Needed! Later in the evening, addressing a conference organised by DMK medical wing, he hailed state govt schemes like 'Nan Mudhalvan' and 'Pudhumai pen,' and criticised the Union govt for allegedly planning to snatch state autonomy. Udhayanidhi hit out at the BJP-AIADMK alliance, calling it an act of 'hypocrisy' by AIADMK. He said Edappadi Palaniswami had declared four months ago that there would be no alliance with BJP even in 2031. "Yet he has now fallen at their feet and they have gone back to their old masters. If they return to power, AIADMK will surrender Tamil Nadu and its autonomy to the BJP," he said. He urged all sections of the DMK to begin preparations to secure more than 200 seats in the coming election.
