‘Wednesday' S2: Who Is the Mystery Woman at the End of Part 1?
Wednesday season two part one has finally arrived on Netflix and while it has answered a lot of questions, such as who is Wednesday's stalker, it's also left us with some very pressing queries—namely, who is the mystery woman at the end of part one? During the fourth episode, Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) uncovers a secret operation taking part in Willow Hill. It's called LOIS and was set up by one of the former teachers of Nevermore Academy and now run by his daughter Judi Spannegel (Heather Matarazzo). Wednesday, along with the ever reliable Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen), head down the basement of Willow Hill, where they discover Judi has been keeping a number of Outcasts prisoners in order to conduct test on them and transfer their powers to Normies. Wednesday and Uncle Fester liberate the prisoners, and there's one woman who intrigues Wednesday and for whom she makes a special effort to escort out. Given the significance of these scenes it's likely this unknown woman is going to be a bigger characters in the next part of season two. But who is she? Here's all the theories we have so far. Throughout the season, Wednesday's Aunt Ophelia is mentioned a lot. She's the sister of Morticia and is a massive point of contention between Wednesday and her mother. As the season progresses we come to understand that Ophelia has been missing for the past 20 years and she shares a lot of similarities to Wednesday, including their shared psychic ability. Morticia frequently points out that just like her aunt, Wednesday is struggling to master her skills and Morticia is worried this could lead to the problems and breakdown that her sister faced. When the sisters were younger Ophelia pushed her psychic abilities too far and produced the same black tears Wednesday does and so her mother Hester (Joanna Lumley) sent her away to Willow Hill. But while the family assumes she is missing, could it be that she's actually been in the basement of Willow Hill all this time? There's a lot of clues to suggest so. Firstly, she's been missing for two decades. Maybe she hasn't been missing at all but in fact been kept prisoner, which is why she's never been seen or communicated with the family. We also know for sure that she was a patient at Willow Hill, with Uncle Fester also confessing to Wednesday Morticia had once asked him to break her out. However, he never did. Given how much emphasis the show has put on Aunt Ophelia as a character, the most likely explanation is she is the one who Wednesday finds and looks after at the end of season two part one. Another person some fans are theorizing the mystery woman is in fact Tyler's mother. During season one we learnt that Tyler (who is also a hyde) is the son of the Detective Galpin and Francoise Galpin, who was an outcast and a hyde. After giving birth to Tyler, Francoise went onto have postpartum depression which led to her hyde being released, and she was then locked up in Willow Hill. We're told that she then died in Willow Hill. However, now fans are theorizing that maybe she's more alive than previously thought. It's a very plausible theory given how much Detective Galpin was investigating LOIS. Perhaps he was suspicious of what happened to his wife all those years ago, and then when he got close to the truth that's why he was killed off by Judi and her crows. The series also puts a lot of emphasis on Tyler rejecting Miss Thornhill as a mother figure, with one of the final scenes between them being when Tyler says to her: 'You're not my mother, you're my master,' and maybe this is to open up the chance to reunite Tyler with his mother. There's also a small possibility that the mystery woman is neither of the characters, and is simply a red herring meant to throw the audience off. However, with everything being so intentionally thought out in Wednesday, we're doubtful she's a character who doesn't hold some significance to the overall plot. Wednesday season 2 part 1 is available on Netflix right now.

‘Wednesday' Season 2 Part 1: Is Wednesday Really Dead?
Contains major spoilers for Wednesday season 2! Wednesday season 2 part 1 has just dropped on Netflix and we may or may not have binged the first four hours in one sitting. And oh my god, we were not prepared for that major cliffhanger of an ending. The new season reunites us with the Addams family, led by Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) as she returns for a second year at outcast school Nevermore Academy. As the term progresses she unmasks her stalker, fights to save Enid's (Emma Myers) life, loses her psychic powers, and investigates a terrible scheme going on at local psychiatric hospital Willow Hill. And as episode four wraps up, we see Wednesday and Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) discover a secret bunker in Willow Hill called LOIS that has housed a number of outcasts believed to be dead, but instead they've actually been experimented on. As Wednesday and Uncle Fester release them, Tyler the Hyde (Hunter Doohan) is also released and goes on a rampage to find Wednesday. The episode ends with Tyler attacking Wednesday and throwing her out of a window, leaving her for dead. Wednesday can survive a lot, but could she be dead? Here's everything we know, ahead of the second drop of episodes in September. As the episode ends, it seems that Wednesday really is close to death. Tyler has left her with significant injuries and quite literally threw her out of a window. She then gives a voiceover essentially confirming her death, where she says: 'I've always dreamed of looking death in the face. But in my final moments, all I hear is my mother's words ringing in my ears. Maybe I have made things worse. Much worse.' However, the show is literally called Wednesday and has already been renewed for a third season, so from a practical point of view it makes zero sense to kill the character Wednesday off. And there's an ambulance on the way and we know her family has access to all kinds of powers that are likely to put a stop to death. We've also seen Wednesday overcome some pretty serious injuries in the past, so we have no doubt she's likely to make a full recovery. The last time Wednesday was close to death, it was after Wednesday was stabbed by Miss Thornhill (Christina Ricci). However, her spirit guide Goody sacrificed herself at the end of season 1, saving her life. Maybe this is the time for someone from beyond the grave to come and save her? We wouldn't be surprised, though, if we do get an episode told from Wednesday's point of view where she's temporarily exploring the underworld. Either way, we're 98% sure Wednesday is still alive. We'll find out for sure on 3rd September when the second batch of episodes drop.

Armisen, who plays Uncle Fester on the series, spoke to PEOPLE exclusively while attending the Wednesday season 2, Part One World Premiere in London on July 30. During the conversation at Central Hall Westminster, the SNL alum shares that Ortega, 22, inspired him to be more 'meticulous' and 'pay attention' as a scene partner. "It's great watching Jenna, because she keeps track of the script in this way that she understands the logic of her character,' Armisen, 58, says. He adds, 'It's not like she just shows up and it's like, 'I'm just gonna do this character.' She's like, 'Why does this moment count? So she's very meticulous, and it makes me want to be more like her. I'm like, 'No, I gotta [...] pay attention.' ' The comedian goes on to share one of his favorite behind-the-scenes moments while filming the upcoming season. 'There was a scene in the insane asylum, and it's raining and it really felt like 'Wow. I'm really on a TV show,' you know? This fake rain and lightning and stuff, and it, it just makes me feel like if I was a little kid watching myself, I'd be like, 'Wow, I'm really on a TV show.' ' Armisen isn't the only Wednesday actor to rave about Ortega's talent and work ethic. Season 2 star Steve Buscemi called the actress 'the best' while speaking exclusively to PEOPLE while attending the Family Dinner fundraising event hosted by Exploring the Arts in New York City in April. Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. 'Oh, she's great,' Buscemi, 67, told PEOPLE at the time. 'She's just, she's so sharp and funny and down to earth. And just a wonderful actress, a wonderful scene partner. The best.' Christina Ricci — who played Wednesday in the original Tim Burton Addams Family films, and who also appears in season 1 of Wednesday as Marilyn Thornhill — echoed the sentiment while speaking to Variety back in 2022. 'Jenna is incredible," Ricci, 45, said of Ortega. "I saw some of the wardrobe photos before I went [to set], so I knew [what she looked like in character] and I was like, it's such a great modern take on Wednesday." The season 2 London premiere was a star-studded affair, with appearances by Ortega, Buscemi, Emma Myers, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Joy Sunday, Tim Burton and more. The PEOPLE Puzzler crossword is here! How quickly can you solve it? Play now! Season 2, Part One of Wednesday debuts on Netflix on Wednesday, Aug. 6, followed by Part Two on Wednesday, Sept. 3.
