Body found in Georgian Bay identified

THE CANADIAN PRESS/Spencer Colby West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) got a call that someone discovered personal property near Georgian Bay close to Parry Sound. The OPP's marine unit began investigating the nearby waters on Friday at around 8 a.m., but it wasn't until the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit began their search that they located a body in Georgian Bay. Police say the deceased person has been identified as a 27-year-old from Etobicoke. The Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario - Ontario Forensic pathology Service (OCCO-OFPS) is assisting, and a post-mortem examination will take place at a later time.

Man's body found in Michigan's Huron River, sheriff's office says
The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man's body was found Tuesday evening in the Huron River. At about 6:55 p.m. on July 29, authorities received a 911 call about a body in the river east of Huron Parkway and south of Geddes Avenue in Ann Arbor Township, Michigan. The sheriff's office Underwater Search and Recovery Team and Ann Arbor Township firefighters located the man's body and moved him to shore. His ethnicity and identity are unknown. The sheriff's office says the man was wearing shoes, swim trunks and a zippered hoodie. Fisherman drowns in Mississippi River near the Appleton dam
A 34-year-old man who had been fishing in the Mississippi River near the Appleton dam is dead after being reported missing Saturday. Members of the Lanark County OPP detachment responded to a call about the missing man shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday. He had been fishing while standing in the water wearing hip waders and was reported to have gone under and not resurfaced, police said in a news release. 'Extensive surface searches were conducted throughout the evening using drones and specialized units,' the release stated. His body was located Monday morning by the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit. Appleton is located just outside of Carleton Place. OPP says search for person who fell into Mississippi River while fishing now recovery operation

THE CANADIAN PRESS/Spencer Colby The search for an individual who fell off their boat into the Mississippi River is now a recovery operation, according to police. Ontario Provincial Police say the individual fell overboard while fishing below the Appleton Dam near Appleton, Ont. shortly before 9 p.m. on Saturday. 'The dam was shut down and Lanark OPP conducted a search of the area using a civilian boat as well as an OPP Marine Unit boat,' the OPP said on X. 'Some of the individual's belongings were recovered.' Police said the search resumed Sunday morning with the assistance of an OPP drone. 'Unfortunately, the investigation has now turned to recovery,' police said, adding the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit will assist with the investigation.

Body recovered in Lewisville Lake as search for second missing boater continues
Searchers have recovered the body of a man from Lewisville Lake, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Meanwhile, the search continued Thursday for a second missing person, described as female, as the effort entered its third day, TPWD said. Advanced sonar joins search The Texas Game Warden Underwater Search and Recovery Team joined the effort, deploying advanced sonar technology to help locate the two missing boaters, a TPWD spokesperson said. Maggie Berger, public information officer for law enforcement at TPWD, said the agency is not identifying the two boaters "out of respect for their family's wishes." She added that the Denton County Medical Examiner's Office "may be able to release his name." Boat found abandoned Tuesday Texas Game Wardens were initially dispatched to the scene on Tuesday after receiving a report of an abandoned vessel. Despite initial efforts, the boaters were not located before nightfall, TPWD officials said. Multi-agency effort continues The search resumed early Wednesday morning, with Game Wardens joined by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as they combed the area. Efforts continued Thursday with the addition of the Underwater Search and Recovery Team, according to TPWD. Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
