CM Majhi: Odisha govt targets 1.5 lakh jobs in five years, 27,428 posts filled so far

BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday said that the state government has given top priority to job creation both in the public and private sectors ever since the BJP came to power on June 12 last year. Addressing the newly-appointed officials at a Nijukti Mela here, Majhi said that the government aims to create 1.5 lakh jobs within five years, with 65,000 positions to be filled up in the first two years. As of now, 27,428 government positions have been filled, including the 1,294 appointment letters distributed during the programme on Friday. The chief minister said only two per cent of jobs in the state are in the government while the rest are in the private and industrial sectors. At least 13 lakh jobs will be created in the industrial sector in the coming days. Employment opportunities for 90,000 people have been created within four months of the Utkarsh Odisha conclave, he said.

Bhubaneswar: Around 27,428 posts have been filled up after the "formation of our govt", chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi said here on Friday while distributing offer letters to newly appointed 1,294 officers and employees in seven departments. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "Since the inception of our govt, we prioritised job creation in both the public and private sectors. Our goal is to fill 1.5 lakh govt posts within five years, with 65,000 positions to be filled in the first two years," the CM said. He said more recruitments are on the way, and the process will continue. "We enacted legislation in the state assembly to ensure transparency in the recruitment process. Complete transparency is maintained in recruitment, and we increased the job age limit to 42 years," he added. H e also highlighted that only 2% of employment in the state is in govt sector, with the rest being created in the private and industrial sectors. "In the coming days, at least 1.3 million jobs are expected to be created in the industrial sector alone. Our youth need to become industry-ready. Within just four months of the Utkarsh Odisha conclave, 90,000 job opportunities opened up in the industrial sector," he added. The CM said the appointees will serve the people of Odisha as part of the govt. "I believe you will serve with dedication and commitment, understanding the needs and challenges of the people. Our govt adopted a zero-tolerance policy against corruption, and you should stay away from it," he added. All appointees were encouraged to plant a tree in their mother's name as part of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign. "With the blessings of your parents, you secured the job. In our society, many poor people are in distress, and you should never forget to deliver justice to them in a timely manner," said Majhi. The appointees comprised 826 postgraduate teachers in school and mass education department, 224 in health and family welfare department, 63 in commerce and transport department, 81 in skill development department, 49 in panchayati raj and drinking water, 32 in excise department, and 19 in labour department.

1 2 Bhubaneswar: CM Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday launched development projects worth Rs 308 crore for Dhenkanal district. It included laying of foundation stone for the prestigious Baji Raut Sports Complex. The CM inaugurated 12 projects worth Rs 112 crore and laid foundation stones for 10 projects worth Rs 76 crore. He initiated four major industrial projects exceeding Rs 50,000 crore, including a Rs 30,000 crore solar energy project aimed at making Dhenkanal Odisha's solar energy hub. "These industrial projects will create around 26,400 direct and indirect employment opportunities, marking the success of our 'Utkarsh Odisha - Make in Odisha' conclave," said Majhi during the ceremony. A major highlight of the day was the foundation stone laying of the Rs 120-crore Baji Raut Sports Complex at Banamaliprasad. The complex will feature a football field, synthetic athletic track, hockey training center, indoor stadium, swimming pool, and a 100-bed sports hostel. Speaking about employment generation, the CM said his govt has already filled 27,000 vacant govt positions in the first year and plans to fill 40,000 more positions this year. He also highlighted the recent cabinet decision to increase the maximum age limit for govt job applications to 42 years. Industry minister Sampad Chandra Swain, who was present at the event, praised the CM's efforts in industrial development, while food supplies minister Krishna Chandra Patra emphasised the govt's commitment to fulfill its promises to the people. The event was attended by Dhenkanal MP Rudra Narayan Pany, local MLAs, and senior district officials.

JAJPUR: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday unveiled 24 industrial projects in Kalinga Nagar Industrial Complex here with a total investment of a whopping Rs 1.15 lakh crore. Majhi inaugurated four and laid foundation for 20 major projects spanning critical sectors such as steel, ferro alloys, chemicals, solar energy, health, refractory materials, automotive components, warehousing and food processing. The projects showcased the government's intent of pushing forward the investment commitments in the state and can generate 36,000 employment opportunities in the region. Addressing the gathering, the chief minister said, 'Today, Odisha stands at a historic turning point. With the launch of 24 industrial projects worth Rs 1.15 lakh crore in Kalinga Nagar, we are not merely laying foundation stones, but are building the future. These projects will create 36,000 employment opportunities ensuring that our youths can grow with pride in their own land.' He further said Kalinga Nagar now shines as the economic lifeline of a self-reliant Odisha. The four projects inaugurated on the day included Tata Steel's 5 MTPA integrated steel plant (ISP) expansion at Kalinga Nagar with an investment of Rs 47,599 crore. The project would create 4,625 jobs.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday (May 23, 2025) inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 24 industrial projects at Kalinganagar in Jajpur district, marking one of the largest single-location investments in the State, totaling Rs 1.15 lakh crore. 'Now, Odisha stands at a historic juncture. With the launch of industrial projects worth Rs. 1.15 lakh crore in Jajpur, we are not merely laying foundation stones, we are building the future. Now, 36,000 employment opportunities are being created,' said Mr. Majhi. He said, 'in just 113 days, we have turned commitments into concrete progress. This is the result of our government's willpower, dedication, and belief in action over words. Kalinganagar now shines as the economic lifeline of a self-reliant Odisha.' The projects comprising steel, ferro alloys, chemicals, solar energy, refractory materials, automotive components, warehousing, and food processing are located across Kalinga Nagar, Danagadi, and Badachana in Jajpur district. Inauguration and ground breaking of 24 major industrial projects mark a major milestone in the State Government's postUtkarsh Odisha-Make in Odisha Conclave 2025. It comes within four months of the Utkarsh Odisha conclave, reflecting the government's unwavering commitment to converting investment intent into action with speed and efficiency, said State Industries Secretary Hemant Sharma. Among the inaugurated projects, 5 MTPA Integrated Steel Plant (ISP) expansion at Kalinga Nagar belonged to Tata Steel Limited which invested Rs 47,599 crore, promising 4,625 jobs. Similarly JSL Group's petroleum and solar power venture worth Rs. 470 crore, and Abis Exports India Private Limited' poultry feed plant with a potential to generate 850 jobs were also inaugurated. The ground breaking segment is led by the Rs. 61,769 crore steel plant expansion by Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL), which is set to become one of the largest steel manufacturing units in the region, creating 14,000 direct employment opportunities, said the Industries Department. Linde India Limited, a major player in industrial gases, is setting up an Air Separation Unit with an investment of Rs. 425 crore, enhancing local industrial self-sufficiency and ensuring reliable gas supply to the steel and manufacturing ecosystem. TYK Ceramics India Private Limited is investing Rs. 57 crore to manufacture high-end refractory products used in advanced steelmaking, supporting both local production and technological upgradation. Almamet India Private Limited, a German multinational, is investing Rs. 50.6 crore in a unit for magnesium granules and calcium carbide, boosting Odisha's specialty chemical production. Neo Industries Metal Processing Private Limited from the USA, Corewire Surface Technology from United Kingdom and Lechler India Private Limited, another prominent German company, are setting up small scale projects.
