In a meeting with several prominent industry leaders, MSMEs, women entrepreneurs and startup founders ahead of the first anniversary of the BJP government in the state, the chief minister highlighted the achievements in industrial development over the past year and outlined his priorities for the second.
Majhi said since Utkarsh Odisha: Make-In-Odisha conclave in January, 56 projects with a combined investment of over Rs 1.78 lakh crore and employment potential for 1.1 lakh people have been taken up for groundbreaking and inauguration. Over 150 MoUs with investment intent of Rs 16.7 lakh crore were signed during Utkarsh Odisha conclave, which was possible because of the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said.
He said, in the first year, 206 large projects entailing investment cost of Rs 4.5 lakh crore were approved which is nearly double the average of the previous five years. The growth has been spread across 20 diverse sectors from traditional strengths like mining, metallurgy and metal downstream to emerging opportunities in chemicals, food processing, apparel and textiles, renewable energy equipment, electronics and tourism.

Delhi Police register attempt to murder case against accused after attack on CM Rekha Gupta
An FIR has been launched against the accused behind the attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at her official residence in Civil Lines area during a 'Jan Sunwai' programme. 'Further investigation is going on. We are investigating it from all the possible angles,' said Delhi Police.(PTI) The case has been lodged under Section 109(1) (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been lodged at Civil Lines police station, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia said. Soon after the attack, the police arrested the accused, Sakriya Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai, a 41-year-old resident of Rajkot in Gujarat. He is being jointly interrogated by the IB and Delhi Police's Special Cell, a senior police officer said. "We are doing a joint interrogation with the IB, Special Cell and intelligence agencies. He had five criminal cases, including two assault cases involving knife attack and three under Excise Act," a Delhi Police official told PTI. 'The officer said that the accused, identified as Sakriya Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai, has been taken into custody and is being interrogated,' Banthia said. What had happened? Delhi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit on Wednesday said that 'a mishap' happened while chief minister Rekha Gupta was in the middle of a 'Jan Sunwai' programme at her camp office in Delhi's civil lines. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said the incident involved a man trying to pull the CM's hand, which led to some jostling during which 'maybe her head touched the edge of a table "a little'. The BJP leaders further said that she was examined by doctors and was stable. Talking to reporters after meeting the CM, Sachdeva said that CM Gupta is "shaken", but she is doing fine. The security personnel present at the even, reportedly overpowered the attacker and took him into custody. The ruling BJP as well as the opposition condemnded the incident. AAP leader Atishi condemned the incident and hoped the chief minister was safe and the police will take strong action against the guilty. Police sources, meanwhile, said that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is likely to review the security arrangements of CM Gupta after a detailed report of the incident is submitted by the police. CM Rekha Gupta has been provided 'Z' category security by Delhi Police. This is as per security guidelines of the MHA outlined in the 'Yellow Book', which details protection protocols for VIPs and VVIPs.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday congratulated BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy on winning the election for a key post in the Constitution Club of India. The Congress MP shook hands with the BJP MP outside the Parliament, calling it 'an uncommon handshake'. While speaking with reporters outside the Parliament, Rahul greeted Rudy and shook hands with the BJP MP.(Rahul Singh) A five-time MP from Bihar, Rudy registered a victory in the Constitution Club election for the secretary (administration) post last week. Rudy defeated fellow BJP leader and former Union minister Sanjeev Balyan to secure the post. While speaking with reporters outside the Parliament, Rahul greeted Rudy and shook hands with the BJP MP. 'An uncommon handshake between BJP. Congratulations, by the way,' the Wayanad MP told Rudy. Rudy, who has been at the helm of the club for over two decades now, received 391 votes as against Balyan's 291 votes. The club has 1200 members, of which 707 members cast their votes. These included Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, PA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, and other union ministers. The handshake came on a day when chaos unfolded in Parliament, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah tabling three Bills. These include the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, The Jammu & Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill and The Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill . The Bills propose that a sitting minister, chief minister, and or even the prime minister can be removed from their position within a month if they are arrested or detained for 30 days straight for an offence which carries a jail term for five years or more. The Bills will introduce a new legal framework which will apply to ministers and CMs in states and Union territories such as Jammu and Kashmir, and Union ministers and the PM at the Centre. The Bills were opposed by the Opposition, including AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, following which sloganeering ensued, with the Lok Sabha Speaker adjourning proceedings till 3 pm.

Indian Automotive Industry To Take Top Spot Globally By 2030: Gadkari
New Delhi: The government's aim is to make India's automobile industry the number one in the world in the next five years, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Tuesday. Launching a report prepared by The Express Industry Council of India (EICI) and KPMG, Gadkari said the future of express industry is very good in the country. "The size of Indian automobile industry is now Rs 22 lakh crore... my aim is to make India's automobile industry number one in the world in the next five years," Gadkari said. The minster further said when he took charge of the transport ministry in 2014, the size of the automobile industry was Rs 7.5 lakh crore and today its size is Rs 22 lakh crore. Presently, the size of the US automobile industry is Rs 78 lakh crore, followed by China (Rs 47 lakh crore) and India (Rs 22 lakh crore). Gadkari said the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to make India third largest economy in the world and logistics sector will play an important role in achieving this dream. Gadkari said until recently, logistics cost in India was about 16 per cent of the gross domestic product (GDP). "I want to share that, according to a joint IIM-IIT survey, we have brought this (logistics cost) down to 10 per cent. "That is a major milestone and we are aiming to bring logistics cost down to single-digit soon," Gadkari said. The minister credited the fall in logistics cost to massive investments in expressway and economic corridors. According to the report titled 'Powering India's Economy, Connecting Business and Markets', express industry contributes USD 1-1.5 billion GST and USD 650 million to customs revenue annually. "The size of express industry sector is projected to double from USD 9 billion in FY25 to USD 18-22 billion by 2030, creating 6.5-7.5 million jobs," it said. The report noted that the express industry has transformed from a logistics facility to an essential service provider. Domestic express accounts for about 70 per cent of the total market, valued at USD 6.3-6.5 billion, with surface express contributing the largest share, it added. The report added that international express segment with a share of about 30 per cent, handled 19.5 million shipment, weighing about 1,52,300 tonnes in FY24.
