Barbie Forteza, Kyline Alcantara, co-stars give glimpse into ‘Beauty Empire' characters

Barbie Forteza, Kyline Alcantara, and their co-stars gave their fans a sneak peek into their characters in 'Beauty Empire' as well as the dramatic narratives behind them and their world. According to Aubrey Carampel's report in '24 Oras' Friday, the upcoming series will follow Barbie and Kyline's characters, Noreen and Shari, who are competitors in the beauty industry. 'Ang istorya ho namin ay punong-puno ng puso at pagmamahal sa pamilya with fashion. And beauty at its core, we will tackle murder mystery, love for family, revenge,' Barbie said. 'I approach it with a combination of my personal life and the character's experiences. 'Yung heartbreak or 'yung mga experience sa buhay eh makakadagdag din naman sa pag-atake sa isang character,' Kyline said. Joining the cast are Ruffa Gutierrez as Velma, Shari's mentor, and Sam Concepcion as Migoy, Noreen's childhood friend. 'Velma is, you know, she's a very ambitious and powerful woman, and yet, behind that, she's very soft. Nagmahal, nagkaroon siya ng heartbreak. And I think me, as Ruffa, marami na rin akong heartbreak na pinagdaanan sa buhay ko,' Ruffa said. 'It's been a really great experience being here, working with the team, and working with such generous and really talented actors,' Sam said. The series will also star Chai Fonacier as Kriselda, Velma's trusted assistant, and Aaron Maniego as Silvester, Shari's assistant. 'She's somebody that I wish I had her focus and her grit. Makalat ito eh,' Chai said. 'I'm just so grateful for my co-actors na sobrang gina-guide nila ako every step of the way and napakabait nila sa akin,' Aaron said. "Beauty Empire" is produced by GMA Public Affairs, based on the original concept by CreaZion Studios. It dives deep into the intense rivalries and high-stakes drama among powerful women as they navigate the beauty industry driven by ambition, revenge, and power. The cast also includes Gloria Diaz, Sid Lucero, and South Korean actor Choi Bo Min. "Beauty Empire" is set to premiere soon on Viu before debuting on GMA Network. —Carby Rose Basina/CDC, GMA Integrated News

‘Scooby-Doo' Live Action Series Heading To Netflix

x Scooby-Doo, the classic animated franchise from Hanna-Barbera that began as a Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? on CBS' Saturday morning kids-themed sked in 1969, is confirmed to debut in a live action format on the small screen. Netflix has given an eight-episode order to a live series that will uncover how the mystery-solving gang, and their beloved dog, first teamed up to crack the haunting case that started it all. The official logline per Netflix: During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets. From Warner Bros. TV, the untitled Scooby-Doo series is created by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji) and executive producer Greg Berlanti. Appelbaum and Rosenberg will serve as showrunners and executive produce via their Midnight Radio banner. Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Leigh London Redman of Berlanti Productions and Midnight Radio's Andre Nemec and Jeff Pinkner also executive produce. 'One of my first and favorite jobs in Hollywood was sitting with Scooby-Doo creators Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera while they signed animation cells,' said Greg Berlanti in a statement. 'Josh and Scott and everyone at Midnight Radio have crafted a story that captures their amazing spirits and their genius creation. We are grateful to them and everyone at Warners and Netflix for the partnership in helping bring this iteration of Scooby-Doo to life!' No casting for this new Scooby-Doo entry has been announced at press time. Last fall, Velma, the adult comedy mystery from Mindy Kaling and Charlie Grandy based on the character Velma Dinkley, was canceled by Max after two seasons. Velma, of course, was just one of the endless Scooby-Doo spin-off TV series, which include The New Scooby-Doo Movies, Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics, The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Show, Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo, The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, What's New, Scooby-Doo?, Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!, and Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? In 2002, a live-action Scooby-Doo film was released starring Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini as Velma. It spawned a 2004 sequel. An animated feature, Scoob!, was also released on the big screen in 2020. Matthew Lillard, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr., Linda Cardellini (Photo by Albert L. ... More Ortega/WireImage)

From 'Night Court' to 'Everybody's Live With John Mulaney,' Richard Kind is one of Hollywood's most prolific guest stars. Here's what 'terrifies' him.

Richard Kind made a guest appearance on a special musical episode of Night Court, which aired on March 11. The series is a revival of a beloved show that follows a magistrate (Melissa Rauch) who presides over a Manhattan criminal court's night shift and the kooky characters she regularly encounters. In the episode, Kind plays Broadway producer Sy Hoffman, who helps a public defender (John Larroquette) adapt his memoir into a musical production. Hoffman is a bit of a slimy and self-serving character, so things don't go as planned. In contrast with his character, Kind has built a reputation as an actor who's willing to make cameos and guest appearances in tons of shows. As he jokes in a cameo on the Netflix series Girls5eva, he's got 'an IMDb page as long as a wizard's beard.' In the last year alone, he's appeared on Night Court, Only Murders in the Building, Velma, Evil, Clone High and more in both guest and recurring roles. Kind spoke with Yahoo Entertainment about Night Court, his legacy and his new gig as the announcer on Everybody's Live With John Mulaney. This interview has been edited for length and clarity. Tell me, what's going on with Sy Hoffman in this episode of ? You have to speak a little louder. What is it? Can you hear me? I can hear you. It's me. I'm driving through Palm Springs, and it's windy outside. OK, no problem. So tell me, what's going on with Sy in this episode? What's he up to? Oh, he's a producer! Yeah! What's he producing? You're asking me like I take this stuff seriously [laughs]! It comes in, and I don't know what the hell — I did it like five months ago. OK, I love that — Talk louder. Talk like you're talking to a deaf man. Is your character, Sy, inspired by anyone? I did the play The Producers on Broadway. He's the sitcom version of [Max Bialystock, a down-on-his-luck] producer. But you know, every producer is a producer. There's a scene in when you're eating a sandwich, and people around are admiring how voraciously you're doing that. How many times did you have to do that take? I had to eat that sandwich a lot. Whenever I go to a deli, I never order pastrami or corned beef. It's bad for me. I try to eat healthy. But this — I'm doing this for my art, so why not? I didn't spit it out after the take was over — I never do. I just finished it. It was delicious. OK. I'll just yell. So, you are famous now for your ability to make cameos or guest appearances in every single show. You have this reputation as someone who's so generous with your time. Well, I have to tell you. I try not to do too many of them on TV shows because there's a stigma for showing up as a guest on so many. You seem like you couldn't be a regular. But I'm a regular on a lot of TV shows, so I think I have to maintain that. But if they ask me to come in for one time and it's fun, of course, what the hell! I'll do it. I like to work. I wish there [wasn't a] stigma because I like to think of all these things as a repertory company. You go in and get a different playground to play in. That sounds so fun! I saw you on Broadway not long ago — in , which featured John Mulaney. Are you excited to work with him again as his announcer for his new Netflix show, ? It delights me. John Mulaney delights me. Doing the show terrifies me. Oh, no! Why? Because we're live! We're live all over the world! What if I say something stupid? What if I show my true colors? [Mulaney] is so smart, and you want to be as smart as he is. He's got great guests, and you want to serve the guests. I'm terrified. It's very scary. Is there anything else that you haven't been in that you'd like to do a guest role on? There's a whole world of things! But I just like doing the work. is streaming on Peacock.
