Kate Hudson says Mindy Kaling sent 'Running Point' notes from hospital bed: 'Isn't Mindy literally in labor?'
Mindy Kaling doesn't let anything stop her from getting the job done right — including giving birth!
During a panel at an Emmy FYC event for Netflix's comedy series Running Point on Friday, star Kate Hudson gushed about how the show's co-creator proved her dedication to their work, even at her most fraught moments.
"I have to say, I've fallen in love with this woman," Hudson said of Kaling, who also executive-produced the show. "And she's just not only so brilliant, but so trusting ... she puts the best team together," she said, per PEOPLE.
Hudson, who plays a woman who's abruptly appointed leader of her family's pro basketball team in the series, recalled that Kaling was even working from her hospital bed after quietly welcoming her third child in February of 2024.
"And she was pregnant. We had a script, like our first table read. She's on Zoom," the actress shared. "She then has the baby and is sending notes like an hour after she has the baby. I was like, 'Isn't Mindy literally in labor?'"
It was all proof to Hudson that the Velma creator is "a powerhouse" that "delivers what she says she's going to deliver."
The Almost Famous alum isn't the only star who has praise for Kaling. Brenda Song, who also stars on Running Point as Isla's formidable bestie and Waves chief of staff Ali Lee, previously told Entertainment Weekly that the mother of three emboldened an uncertain Song to "come with us, trust us."
"I was like, I will follow you blindly," Song shared.
The mother of two and fiancé of fellow actor Macaulay Culkin said the experience reaffirmed the spark she felt working on Gia Coppola's The Last Showgirl. "Working with such incredible, supportive, talented people has really re-energized me and reminded me why I love doing what I do so much."
Kaling created the sports comedy with Elaine Ko, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen. The show focuses on Hudson as Isla Gordon, who leads the L.A. Waves, a Lakers-like basketball team with an illustrious reputation, after her brother Cam (Justin Theroux) becomes embroiled in a drug scandal.
Long overlooked by her brothers (which also include Drew Tarver and Scott MacArthur) and late father, the ambitious and sports-savvy Isla must prove she's right for the job. She has to find a way to win respect and a championship.
Netflix renewed the show for a second season earlier this year.
"It was a completely new experience," Hudson told EW in February about making the series. "I'd never been on a show where you do so much in one day. You would shoot a scene from two completely different episodes. I was like, 'This is a whole new world.' But we had such an amazing team of people, and oh my God, we just laughed so much."
Running Point is streaming on Netflix.

Halle Bailey May Be Blocked from Leaving the Country with Baby Halo
In newly surfaced court documents, rapper DDG has asked the court to stop Halle Bailey from taking their 17-month-old son, Halo, out of the country. The legal move comes amid a custody and restraining order case between the former couple, who split in 2024. DDG has requested the court to block his former partner Halle Bailey from travelling abroad with their son Halo, as per new court filings. The rapper has requested an emergency hearing to prevent the Last Holiday star from taking international trips with their 17-month-old son, specifically raising concerns over an upcoming vacation to Italy. In addition to the travel restriction, DDG is seeking a domestic violence restraining order. He alleges that Bailey has shown behavior that could pose emotional and psychological harm to their child, including what he describes as 'repeated threats of self-harm.' He further argues that international travel would remove the child from the court's jurisdiction and limit access to emergency protection if needed. (via PEOPLE) DDG also claimed that Bailey has experienced emotional instability that could endanger their child's safety. In one instance, he says she took his firearm during an argument and left with it. According to his account, he later found her outside, holding the weapon. This legal filing comes shortly after Bailey was granted temporary legal and physical custody of their son, Halo, last month. At the time, she accused DDG of physically and emotionally abusing her. The court had also issued a temporary restraining order then, requiring DDG to keep a distance of at least 100 yards from both Bailey and their son. Effective until June 4, the order recently expired. Additionally, Bailey requested that DDG be denied any visitation rights unless supervised. She asked that if visitation is granted, it should be limited to once a week for six hours under professional supervision while Halo is in Los Angeles. Further, he should not be allowed to take their son outside Los Angeles County. Wes Anderson says Jodie Foster keeps turning down the chance to work with him: 'She's pretty amazing'
Wes Anderson is an institution. Over the course of his prolific, three-decade career, the American filmmaker has established a signature aesthetic and working style that could convince any actor to beg him for a part — almost any actor. But one two-time Oscar-winning performer has eluded the ensemble-oriented director. "Over the years, I had so many movies that I tried to get Jodie Foster to be in," Anderson revealed in a Tuesday interview with Collider, "It used to be every movie, we went to Jodie Foster for a part. And I think I did it three movies in a row, maybe four. And I met her, and I liked her. And I thought it was going to get her. And I think she's just great, Jodie Foster," said The Phoenician Scheme director, who has an Academy Award of his own. Anderson is known for his expansive ensemble casts, which have led to a series of acting nominations at major awards ceremonies. Oscar-winning actors like Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, and Angelica Huston have returned to collaborate with Anderson on film after film over the said he "loved" Foster in the first movie she directed, Little Man Tate, in which she plays the mother: "She has this real sparkle. She has a lightness in it. It's just a different kind of character." Though he wouldn't specify which films he offered the industry veteran, who has been acting since she was a child, Anderson said, "I still would like to get Jodie Foster. But I guess after asking few times, I thought maybe I'm not — I think sometimes somebody has an idea of the kind of work they want to do at that time in his or her life, and we weren't right." Even so, Anderson said, "She's pretty amazing." Anderson's newest film, The Phoenician Scheme, features a panoply performing giants, including Benicio del Toro, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Richard Ayoade, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend, and Hope Davis. Del Toro stars as the wealthy industrialist Anatole "Zsa-Zsa" Korda, and though the Puerto Rican star has "been doing movies for a long time," he told Entertainment Weekly in May that there's "one sequence in the movie when you see it where it's like, wow." Recalling the film's hypnotic, slow-motion opening credits sequence, which is shot from overhead, del Toro said, "That's one of those things that you think you've figured it all out. And here I am doing another movie with a great director, and he's telling me to do this, and I go home, and I'm glad I was a prune for about five days after that sequence. It's just really a cool sequence." Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly

Ginny and Georgia: Who has Georgia Miller killed? Your reminder of the fictional character's crimes
Ginny and Georgia has finally landed on Netflix for an unbelievably dramatic season three. The new 10-part season picks up right where the last one ended, with Georgia getting arrest for the murder of Tom Fuller. And now in the new season we'll be seeing her undergo trial and prove her innocence. Except if you've watched even one episode of this show, you'll know Georgia (Brianne Howey) is far from innocent. Over the first two series it's been revealed she's killed three people, shot another and committed a variety of crimes including theft and shoplifting. And as she is about to be put under the microscope, we thought it was only right to reexamine her various crimes, after all, it's been two years since the show was last on, so we're a little hazy on the details. So here is everything you need to know about Georgia Miller's murders. During Ginny and Georgia we get scenes both in the present timeline and also in various flashback timelines throughout Georgia's life. In season one we come to learn about Georgia's first murder. About a year after giving birth to Ginny, Georgia leaves Zion and his family and ends up working in a hotel in New Orleans. There, she meets Anthony Green, the owner of the hotel who looks after Ginny when she's working. During her time at the hotel Georgia starts an illegal poker ring to start earning some more money, however at one point she gets busted and lands in jail, with Ginny being sent to foster care. In order to try and get Ginny back, Georgia agrees to marry Anthony and come off as a woman in a happy healthy relationship with a stable home for her daughter. During their marriage she tries to knock him out with drugs to stop him irritating her, however she gives him too high a dosage and he overdoses. She calls on the help of the gang she used to run with called the Bloodeyes who help her to cover up the death and make it look like Anthony has gone missing. In season one we also learn about Georgia's first intentional murder. Just before they move to Wellsbury in the pilot episode, it turns out Georgia was married to a wealthy guy named Kenny Drexel. Kenny ran a series of yoga studios that Georgia ended up teaching at whilst married to him. One day she sees Kenny touch Ginny inappropriately and decides she needs to get her children out of the situation. She decides to kill Kenny by posinig him. She adds wolfsbane to his morning smoothie, which causes him to have a heart attack and crash his car while driving to work. This murder is unlike the others and is the one that sees Georgia land herself in jail. Throughout both seasons of the show, we know Georgia's frenemy Cynthia's husband Tom has suffered a serious illness which has left him in a coma. It takes it's toll on Cynthia throughout the series and at one point she tells Georgia in a drunken state: "I just want it to be over." In own twisted way of being a supportive friend, while picking Austin up from a playdate with Cynthia's son Zach, she goes into Tom's room and smothers his face with a pillow, killing him. What she doesn't realise at the time is Austin is watching his mother kill Tom from inside the cupboard. Will Georgia finally be sent to jail for her crimes? We really kinda hope not, but guess we'll just have to watch season three to find out. Ginny and Georgia is available on Netflix now
