George Clooney Issues 2-Word Warning to Broadway Audiences
George Clooney may be the proud recipient of two Academy Awards, but that doesn't mean he doesn't still have plenty to learn about his craft. Case in point: What it's like to star in a Broadway show. After three weeks of previews, Clooney's new—and very first—Broadway play opened at New York City's Winter Garden Theatre on April 3 (with plenty of his A-list friends in the audience, though wife Amal was noticeably absent). But the former E.R. star found a way to share a bit of the self-deprecating humor he's so well known for in the production's People Magazine reports, the star's bio has begun to go viral both for its brevity and for its levity. All told, it's less than 30 words. After identifying Clooney as both the star and playwright, his bio reads: 'George's last time in an Equity theatre was in June of 1986, a play called Vicious at Steppenwolf Theatre. He has never appeared on Broadway so… buckle up.' Given that the play is based on the 2005 film of the same name—a biopic of legendary television journalist Edward R. Murrow—which Clooney co-wrote and directed, something tells us he knows what he's doing here. And so far, the reviews have confirmed that. The New York Times praised Clooney's ability to play Murrow 'with wit, integrity, and charming modesty' while Variety wrote that the beloved actor 'has a deeply felt command of character and a riveting presence.' Which makes one think that, though appreciated, the 'buckle up' warning might have been unnecessary.

Jennifer Lopez and Child Emme Step Out in Coordinating Looks to Support Her 'Out Of Sight' Costar George Clooney on Broadway
Jennifer Lopez and her teen, Emme Maribel Muñiz, 17, certainly had a good night on Broadway. The two sported sleek coordinating black tie looks with a vintage velvet flair at the Broadway debut of George Clooney, whom Lopez, 55, once costarred with in Steven Soderbergh's 1998 film, Out Of Sight. Lopez recently attended the Broadway revival of Shakespeare's Othello, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Denzel Washington, with Emme, and referred to them as "the best date" in an Instagram post. The This Is Me... Now: A Love Story star has a close bond with Emme. In 2020, Lopez told PEOPLE, "It's unconditional love. I know everybody feels this way about their kids, but I just feel like they're super special. I can't wait to see what they do.' Lopez and her ex-husband, Marc Anthony, welcomed Emme and their twin brother Max in 2008. Clooney, 63, is starring in Good Night, and Good Luck, a stage adaptation of the 2005 film of the same name. Clooney helped adapt the script for the stage and stars in the leading role. The play recounts the legendary moment when CBS News journalist Edward R. Murrow uncovered Senator Joseph McCarthy's corruption. In the stage play, Clooney steps into Murrow's shoes. David Strathairn, who played Murrow in the film, earned an Oscar nomination for the part in 2006. Clooney was partly inspired to take on the role by his father Nick Clooney's work as a journalist. 'It seemed like a good time to remind ourselves how important journalism is to all of us and what a terrible state the country would be in without the Fourth Estate," Clooney told Vulture. "Also, I think it's a nice time to remind ourselves of us at our best—when we stood up to power and people did something very brave and unselfish.' He previously starred in 1986's Vicious in Los Angeles, and later at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theater. Vicious followed the life story of Sid Vicious of the British punk band the Sex Pistols. This role famously earned the actor his first agent and on-camera role. Tickets for Good Night, and Good Luck are now on sale. The play runs through June 8. Read the original article on People
