Second suspect arrested for disrupting WNBA game after a s*x toy hit man and his 9-year-old niece

Connecticut Sun vs Phoenix Mercury. Image via: Getty Images Throwing heinous objects onto the court at WNBA games has become a trend recently. However, the suspects didn't get far and were arrested for it. In a similar set of events, a second person had been arrested for throwing a d**do onto the courtside. The object did not directly reach the court, but hit a man who came to watch the WNBA match with his 9-year-old niece. The person, later revealed to be Kaden Lopez, 18, was arrested for this barbaric incident. What's even more surprising was when this person was interviewed. Although he had apologized for this inhumane behavior, however, he made sure to address the media with something that sparked heated debate among everyone out there. He referred to this incident as a 'stupid prank', which had created discontent among the audience and the people of the league. Kaden Lopez had been arrested for allegedly throwing a d**do at a WNBA Game This is not the first time that a s*x object has been thrown, aimed at the courtside at a WNBA game. A green d**do was aimed at the court earlier during a match between the Golden State Valkyries and the Atlanta Dream on July 29. A similar incident had taken place, making it the 5th known incident so far. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like If A Cat Bites Their Owner Heres What It Really Means Gloriousa Undo The man, later identified as Kaden Lopez, was arrested and booked into jail for suspicion of disorderly conduct, assault, and public display of explicit se**al material. A court document read, 'Video footage shows Lopez, sitting in his seat, he retrieves the green dildo from his sweater front pocket then throws the dildo forward. He then stands up and leaves the area'. The s*x object had hit a man and his 9-year-old niece The heinous incident took place at the WNBA Game, and it isn't an isolated case. The game was between the Phoenix Mercury and the Connecticut Suns. Although the object did not reach the court, it hit a man who went to watch the match with his 9-year-old niece, and then it struck the ground next to him. The suspect, Kaden Lopez, later apologized for his immature behavior and defended in this regard as 'a stupid prank that was trending on social media. " The Los Angeles Sparks coach, Lynne Roberts, also reacted to this malevolent incident and said, 'It's ridiculous. It's dumb. It's stupid. It's also dangerous, and you know, player safety is No. 1, respecting the game, all those things. I think it's really stupid." A similar incident had taken place during the Valkyries-Dream game On July 29, the first incident had taken place, whereby a person allegedly threw a green d**do on the courtside. The game was immediately stopped, following a tough speculation. The object was removed instantly, and the game was resumed. However, similar incidents took place most frequently and haven't stopped since. The very recent incident of Kaden Lopez marks the 5th incident in the history of the WNBA. Fans In Disbelief After Shocking Object Delays WNBA Game

Fans In Disbelief After Shocking Object Delays WNBA Game originally appeared on The Spun. Just when you think you've seen it all in sports, something truly absurd happens. With that said, Tuesday night's game between the Golden State Valkyries and the Atlanta Dream was delayed because a fan chucked an object onto the court. We're not kidding. During the fourth quarter of the Valkyries-Dream game, a fan launched what appears to be a green sex toy from their seat. It nearly hit Golden State guard Veronica Burton as she was dribbling the ball. Thankfully, no one was harmed during this incident. The score was tied 75-75 when the toy landed on the court. Although the Valkyries and Dream were heading towards a nail-biting finish, WNBA officials and security had to pause the final minute of the game. Several players on the Dream, including Jordin Canada, were visibly shocked that this actually happened. After all, it's not often that an object like this brings a sporting event to a screeching halt. As for WNBA fans, they're trying to figure out how someone even snuck this object into Gateway Center Arena. "How did they even sneak that into the arena," one person asked. "Somebody threw a sex toy on the floor in the middle of a WNBA game. This is DIABOLICAL," another person wrote. "OK I needed the context as to how it got there. Thank you! Now it's even more hilarious," a third person commented. "Carrying this with you to a sporting event in itself is ridiculous," a social media user pointed out. "You can't make this up," another user wrote. "That's a first for the WNBA." Unfortunately for the Valkyries, their 77-75 win over the Dream was overshadowed by this incident. The WNBA will most likely have to release a statement on this fan's behavior. In the meantime, the sports world is unleashing its thoughts on this truly absurd situation. Liberty know they need to fix defensive shortcomings before it's too late

We've got you covered on the Liberty beat Join Post Sports+ for exciting subscriber-only features, including real-time texting with Madeline Kenney about all things Liberty and WNBA. tRY IT NOW This isn't the version of the Liberty defense that held every opponent under 88 points the first nine games of the season. This isn't the version that managed to overcome the loss of defensive anchor Betnijah Laney-Hamilton — out for the season on a suspended contract after March knee surgery — and adapt, either. On paper, the Liberty still have the No. 2 defensive rating in the WNBA this season (97.3), behind just the Lynx, but after getting torched by the Mercury 106-91 on Friday, and allowing over 100 points for the second time in six games, defensive issues have become glaring. The effort from the reigning champions was blasted — by head coach Sandy Brondello, by offseason acquisition Natasha Cloud — after their latest defensive dud, too. 3 New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu (20) and New York Liberty guard Natasha Cloud (9) and New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart (30) and New York Liberty center Nyara Sabally (8) look on against the Phoenix Mercury during the second half at Footprint Center on June 27, 2025. Joe Camporeale-Imagn Images Though the Liberty will be without two starters in Leonie Fiebich (EuroBasket with Germany) and Jonquel Jones (right ankle sprain) again Sunday when they face Atlanta, they've refused to let that become an excuse for what transpired in Phoenix and, by extension, the fourth-worst defensive rating (107.2) in the league the past two weeks. 'I don't care who's not with us,' Brondello said postgame. 'I don't care. They're not gonna save us here. What we've got, this is it.' The Liberty could get Fiebich back for their July 3 game against the Sparks, The Post's Madeline Kenney reported earlier this week. Germany lost to Belgium in the quarterfinals, won a classification game against Turkey and will face Czechia for fifth place on Sunday — when the Liberty complete their current road trip with a game against the Dream. Jones, however, suffered the sprain to the same ankle she injured earlier in the year and will miss at least another three to five weeks, based on the Liberty's initial projection from last Saturday. 3 Natasha Cloud #9 of the New York Liberty plays defense during the game against the Phoenix Mercury during a WNBA Game on June 27, 2025 at PHX Arena in Phoenix, Arizona. NBAE via Getty Images Brondello called the Liberty 'soft' after the Mercury game, where they allowed 61 points in the first half and surrendered 18 3-pointers. She said they had 'no toughness' while defending. They didn't make Phoenix uncomfortable at all, and the Mercury became the seventh Liberty opponent in the past eight games to shoot over 41 percent from the field. The Liberty's strength, dating back to when Breanna Stewart and Jones arrived to join Sabrina Ionescu ahead of the 2023 campaign, has been their offense. An ability to approach 100 points regularly. A surplus of options to carry the scoring each game. 3 New York Liberty head coach Sandy Brondello looks on against the Phoenix Mercury during the second half at Footprint Center. Joe Camporeale-Imagn Images But they also flashed strong defensive potential, too, and finished with the No. 3 defensive rating each of the past two seasons. Stewart earned a spot on First-Team All-Defense in both seasons. Laney-Hamilton consistently shut down stars, including the Fever's Caitlin Clark. Fiebich, after carving out a consistent role late last season, helped with wing defense. Check out more newsletters But the Liberty's unit will continue to look different until Jones and Fiebich return. They won't get Laney-Hamilton back at all this season. Though they attempted to mount a comeback early in the third quarter Friday, while they produced some stops and started to claw back into the game, they can't just do that in spurts, Cloud said. If they can go on those defensive runs, she said, that only means 'we can give it for the totality of the game.' Through their opening 15 games, the Liberty have, once again, demonstrated an ability to operate as one of the league's elite offenses. They entered Saturday with the best offensive rating (108.5) in the WNBA, set the record for 3-pointers in a game with 19 and then tied their own mark just games later. But that might not matter in the marathon of a season — and whatever follows in the playoffs — without the defense to complement it. 'We say often we have a lot of weapons on the offensive end all throughout our roster,' Cloud said, 'but if we don't get stops, that offense doesn't mean anything.'

Sun HC slams ‘stupid foul' by Fever, Sophie Cunningham

The post Sun HC slams 'stupid foul' by Fever, Sophie Cunningham appeared first on ClutchPoints. Things got out of hand during the Connecticut Sun and Indiana Fever game, which led to several players being fined afterward. With less than a minute left in the game and the Fever up by double digits, Sophie Cunningham made hard contact with Jacy Sheldon as she was driving to the paint. Advertisement That led Cunningham to be assessed a flagrant 2 foul and ejected from the game, as well as Lindsay Allen and Sheldon. After the game, Sun head coach Rachid Meziane spoke about the play. 'I did not understand. When you are winning the game by 17 points and you are doing this, to me, stupid foul – this is just disrespectful and I do not know how Lindsay (Allen) and Jacy (Sheldon) get ejected from the game when they did nothing. For me, it's just disrespectful to do that foul when you're winning the game by 17 points. Completely stupid,' Meziane said. Cunningham ended up being fined for the play, and she has also received some backlash for her actions toward the end of the game. Meziane noted that the team didn't stick to the game plan and focus on what they needed to do to win the game, but it was a good learning opportunity. Fever and Sun game get physical Before the fourth quarter altercation, things started to get out of hand in the third quarter. Cailtin Clark was poked in the eye by Sheldon, which led both players to get tangled up after. Tina Charles and Marina Mabrey then came into the picture, and Mabrey chest bumped Clark, leading her to fall on the floor. Sheldon was assessed a flagrant 1 foul, and Clark, Mabrey, and Charles were given technicals. Advertisement Meziane was asked after the game if he thought Mabrey should have been ejected for her bump on Clark. 'She just tried to be between two players, but no, I don't think she deserved to be ejected,' Meziane said. 'This is not my job. I am a coach. The ref has to do their job, to clean up the game and make sure the best team won the game and not just who is more physical. I don't think my players deserved this ejection.' That is what most likely led to Cunningham fouling Sheldon hard late in the game, as she wanted to try and protect her teammate. At the same time, that wasn't the best move, and she ended up getting fined for it.
