Former This Is Us star Chrissy Metz debuts 45kg weight loss

Chrissy Metz turned heads at Variety's Power of Women event in Nashville, proudly displaying her 45kg weight loss. The 44-year-old actress, who recently spoke about her health journey, stepped out in a colourful pastel mini dress featuring shades of pink, blue, and yellow. Her outfit, perfect for spring, included a V-neckline with ruffled detailing and short sleeves for a playful, feminine touch. The This Is Us star completed her ensemble with a stylish twist — white cowboy boots that added a bold flair to her look. Her appearance comes nearly a month after she shared new details about her approach to health and fitness, including the workout technique she credits with helping her stay in shape. In a one-on-one interview with Metz opened up about her routine, revealing her renewed commitment to strength training. 'I have always enjoyed strength training. I've always enjoyed lifting weights,' she said, adding that she prefers it over traditional cardio exercises. 'I don't want to run unless I'm being chased,' she joked while discussing her second children's book, When I Talk to God, I Talk About Feelings. Metz also spoke fondly of her trainer, who has been through his own weight loss transformation, something she finds especially motivating. 'We have things in common where it's not just like, 'Why are you doing this?' Like, I don't want to be yelled at. I want to be lovingly supported in whatever it is that I'm doing,' she shared about their sessions. Beyond personal support, Metz says she's also driven by a long-term goal: maintaining her health as she ages. 'I want to age the best way that I can, and I want to be strong. And that's really the impetus behind any of it,' she emphasised. Living in Nashville, Metz explained that concerns about ageing conditions like osteoporosis and arthritis are a big part of why she prioritises her wellbeing. 'I'm literally doing it because I am nervous about ageing, about osteoporosis or arthritis, you know, and because they are now discovering so much about health overall [and] it's really about being and staying strong and flexible.' Her workout schedule may shift depending on her calendar, but she brings full enthusiasm to any new interest — whether it's exercising, gardening, or woodworking. She 'loves to go ham, all in,' and 'chip away just a little bit every day.' When asked her opinion on the use of Ozempic, Metz responded with a balanced, respectful view. 'It's something I feel is so personal.' 'I think if you're not hurting anybody, and you're not hurting yourself, you should do what you feel is right for your body or your mind or whatever.' The Power of Women Nashville brunch, hosted by Melissa Joan Hart, spotlighted powerful speeches celebrating the vital role of women — particularly in the world of country music.

Chrissy Metz: Good deeds make me feel good about myself

Chrissy Metz's good deeds "supersede what anybody thinks" about her. The 44-year-old star wants to be "liked and loved" - but Chrissy insists it's not her biggest motivation. Speaking to People, Chrissy explained: "As humans, we so want to be liked and loved, myself included. "I think that's why we do a lot of the things that we do. I want you to know that I'm smart. I want to be validated. I want you to like me. 'I have this beautiful car because I want you to think that I have a lot of money because I want you to respect me. Everything we do is sort of funnelled down to that. "But for me, when I do good things, I feel good about myself. If I'm helping my family or my friends, or if I give back in some particular way, whether it's time or money or whatever, those things make me feel confident, make me feel good and those things sort of supersede what anybody thinks or says about me. "Nobody really knows you. What matters is how I feel about myself. And I think confidence is trust in yourself. And so every time you do something that makes you feel good, you sort of just accumulate this trust, which I think is the true depth of self-confidence." Despite this, Chrissy still struggles with anxiety and self-doubts. The 'This Is Us' star shared: "There are certainly times when I'm like, girl, what are you doing? I don't think you got this!" Chrissy recently published a children's book titled 'When I Talk to God, I Talk About Feelings', and the actress hopes to write another one in the future. She told E! News: "I love picture books. I love illustrators. I was going to go to school for art. So, I love the process. So yeah, fingers crossed." Asked what motivated her to write a children's book, Chrissy replied: "I have a big family. I know when I was a kid, I didn't feel seen or heard. And I see it in these little kids faces and like, it's not about the toy, it's not about playing outside - kids want to feel seen and heard because I don't think it's necessarily fostered or cultivated. So we had to talk about feelings because even as adults, we don't know how to."

'This is Us' star credits God for move from LA to Nashville

Chrissy Metz thanks God for her move to Nashville and getting into the music industry. The "This is Us" actress said she found herself talking to Kelly Clarkson's doctor at one point while she was going back and forth between there and Los Angeles, and he told her, "'You don't know me, but God literally told me to ask you about music.' And I was like, 'Wait, what?'" she told Fox News Digital about how she ended up in Music City. She continued, "And he's like, 'Do you want to write music? Do you sing? I don't even know that about you.' And I'm like, 'Yes, yes. Music was my first love.' And he was like, 'Well, I live in Nashville. If you want to come out to song-write, I'll set you up with meetings.' I was like, 'Are you joking? OK, thank you, God.' And then I came out to start just songwriting with incredible songwriters." The 44-year-old said she's originally from Florida, "so, the South is very familiar to me," and during the coronavirus pandemic her family lived there for eight months. "And it just sort of became like a very comforting place, and you can go anywhere, 10, 15 minutes," she said. "You can have the best food, see three different shows in one night and then write a song. Like, it's just... It's such a special place, and it feels very communal." She still owns a home in Los Angeles — before the move she had been going back and forth during hiatuses from "This is Us" — and when she was there recently, "my friends of 20 years are like, 'What are you doing?' So, I don't know that I'll ever completely give that up, but from what I'm doing now, I'm just, I am so happy here." "I am so happy here." Comparing L.A. to Nashville, Metz said that just running an errand is vastly different. WATCH: 'This is Us' star says she didn't really feel 'seen or heard' growing up "It took two hours and 15 minutes in L.A. It took me seven minutes here," she told Fox News Digital, adding that she feels like it gives her a better "quality of life" in Nashville, not having to sit in traffic for hours. "I hate to say quality of life, because for me, spending time in traffic is about quality of life. And listen, I'm grateful I have a car, I am able to drive, all those things, but I'm like, how much more productive could I be if I was doing something with that time? Not to say I don't roll calls or whatever, listen to music, rehearse, but it's just, I don't know, for right now in my life, in this season, it just feels good and comfortable and right." Along with working on music, the actress has also written a children's book called "When I Talk to God I Talk About Feelings." It is a follow-up to her first book, "When I Talk to God, I Talk About You." "I know as a kid, I had a hard time expressing my feelings," she explained. "And I think our world would be a very different place if we treated the soil and every kid felt like they were heard and seen from a very early age, that they could name their feelings, they could then express them, feel validated in them." "I know as a kid, I had a hard time expressing my feelings, and I think our world would be a very different place if we treated the soil and every kid felt like they were heard and seen from a very early age, that they could name their feelings, they could then express them, feel validated in them." She said she talks to God about her feelings "every single day, sometimes every single minute," which became the impetus for the book. While reading the first book to children at churches and schools, "they always wanted to talk about their feelings," she said. "We would ask about specific questions, and they would always want to talk about how they were feeling or something that made them scared or happy or nervous, and it certainly was a through line and a thread every single time, and I was like, 'Oh, I think the kids just completely created the second book for me,' you know?" WATCH: 'This is Us' star talks inspiration behind her children's book 'When I Talk to God, I Talk About Feelings' With 10 nieces and nephews and experience of having taught preschool, Metz remembered talking to children about a "particular toy or something that happened at home, but the underlining is, 'Hey, you know, I'm feeling a certain way. Will you listen to me?' And that just kept coming up, and it keeps coming up in any sort of conversation." She added, "If you really listen, you can hear what the kid, the adult, whomever you are talking to is really saying." Metz said she didn't really feel "seen or heard as a kid. I was a middle child of five. I learned a lot. I gleaned a lot, but it was tough." She continued, "So, you know, for those young people who may be in the same boat, I'm like, 'Oh, I see you, and I want to hear you, and I wanna see you.'" Metz hopes the book "will create conversation between" the reader and the listener. "And even if it's not a conversation you want to eventually have, hopefully it will just foster connection and time spent with who you're reading it to. Yeah, so, I mean, that's certainly our hope and the reason why I wanted to write it about feelings." "I hope that they take away that they're loved, that they are important and that their feelings are very valid," she added. Praying "from morning till night" is also an important part of her day. Along with praying before meetings, interviews, auditions and other things she does throughout the day, "whether it's friends or family who are going through something or if I see some, you know, an ambulance driving on the road, I will pray. I will just stop and pray for that person. And I think whether you call it prayer or however you call your higher power, I think positive collective consciousness is so important." WATCH: 'This is Us' star says she's 'so happy' after her move from LA to Nashville She said she starts every day with a prayer of gratitude, "and then I just continue through the day." "I'm always wanting to put positivity out there," she added. "And that for me looks like prayer in my connection and relationship with God." "When I Talk to God, I Talk About Feelings" is available now.

How Did Chrissy Metz Lose Weight? The ‘This Is Us' Actress's 100-Lb. Health Transformation

Chrissy Metz opened up about her amazing 100-pound weight loss transformation in April 2025. The This Is Us actress shared how she reached her health and fitness goals, all while debunking Ozempic and gastric bypass surgery rumors. Life & Style reflects on Chrissy's weight loss journey and reveals how she dropped 100 pounds. The When I Talk to God, I Talk About Feelings author lost weight by choosing a workout she enjoyed participating in: Weight lifting. 'I have always enjoyed strength training. I've always enjoyed lifting weights, like I don't want to run unless I'm being chased,' Chrissy told The Daily Mail in April 2025 before explaining her relationship with her Nashville-based personal trainer. 'We have things in common where it's not just like, 'Why are you doing this?' Like, I don't want to be yelled at. I want to be lovingly supported in whatever it is that I'm doing,'' she continued to the outlet. During Chrissy's April 2025 interview with The Daily Mail, she addressed speculation that she turned to surgery and medication to achieve her weight loss results. 'But I also think it's people's personal decision to decide what it is that they want to do for their body. I think ultimately, at the end of the day, we all just want to feel good and feel good about ourselves,' Chrissy told the publication at the time. 'I think if you're not hurting anybody, and you're not hurting yourself, you should do what you feel is right for your body or your mind or whatever.' Meanwhile, the Breakthrough star revealed she would 'never' undergo a weight loss procedure. 'I don't even take Tylenol, like, I really am such a weirdo that way. I'm like, 'Yeah, no,'' she said. 'It wouldn't take with me. I could eat past it. With anything, it's a lifestyle change. I mean whatever is best for the person, but, like, also for me, with like a bariatric surgery, so much of my food issues, personally, are psychological in that like, yes, you could sort of put a band-aid on the problem. But like, What's the bigger issue? There's a bigger issue for me.' Chrissy dove headfirst into her weight loss journey while trying to avoid health complications that come with aging while being classified as obese. Ultimately, she wants to be 'strong' and 'age the best way [she] can.' 'I'm literally doing it because I am nervous about aging, about osteoporosis or arthritis, you know, and because they are now discovering so much about health overall [and] it's really about being and staying strong and flexible,' the Emmy-nominated actress told The Daily Mail. Back in 2016, Chrissy explained how she needed to lose weight as a stipulation in her contract while starring on This Is Us. While the starlet was on board about improving her lifestyle, she made it very clear she wasn't interested in losing weight for aesthetic purposes. 'That was a win-win for me. Because it's one thing to try to do it on your own. But as human beings, it's an ego thing: We're more likely to do something for someone else,' she told TVLine at the time. 'I just have to be very clear. Whether or not I lose weight or stay the same, it's purely a choice of mine for health. Not because I think that plus-size, curvy, voluptuous, big bodies aren't attractive — because I think they're awesome and sexy.'

‘This Is Us' Alum Chrissy Metz Reveals Secrets to 100-Lb Weight Loss Amid Ozempic Rumors

Chrissy Metz opened up about the secrets behind her 100-pound weight loss while addressing Ozempic and gastric bypass surgery rumors. The This Is Us alum, 44, said she's become "consistent" with weightlifting in an interview with The Daily Mail published on Tuesday, April 8. Chrissy is hitting the publicity trail for her new children's book, When I Talk to God, I Talk About Feelings. "I have always enjoyed strength training. I've always enjoyed lifting weights, like I don't want to run unless I'm being chased," she joked to the outlet. Chrissy works with a personal trainer out of her home base in Nashville, Tennessee. He too has been on a weight loss journey, which the star finds relatable. "We have things in common where it's not just like, 'Why are you doing this?' Like, I don't want to be yelled at. I want to be lovingly supported in whatever it is that I'm doing,'" Chrissy said about their one-on-one session workouts. Getting healthy for longevity purposes is also a goal for the Homestead, Florida, native. "I want to age the best way that I can, and I want to be strong. And that's really the impetus behind any of it," the Solving Charlie star said about her health journey. "I'm literally doing it because I am nervous about aging, about osteoporosis or arthritis, you know, and because they are now discovering so much about health overall [and] it's really about being and staying strong and flexible," Chrissy continued. When asked what she thinks about the weight loss semaglutide Ozempic — which has become all the rage in Hollywood — the American Horror Story alum responded, "It's something I feel like, it is so personal and sure, I think it's important to, like, destigmatize anything." "But I also think it's people's personal decision to decide what it is that they want to do for their body. I think ultimately, at the end of the day, we all just want to feel good and feel good about ourselves," Chrissy continued. "I think if you're not hurting anybody, and you're not hurting yourself, you should do what you feel is right for your body or your mind or whatever." While Chrissy's This Is Us character Kate Pearson considered undergoing gastric bypass surgery on the NBC series to lose weight, she told the outlet that she's "never" had that type of surgery. "I don't even take Tylenol, like, I really am such a weirdo that way. I'm like, 'Yeah, no,'" she said about the procedure that reduces the size of one's stomach to a small pouch leading to the digestive track, according to the Mayo Clinic. As a result, patients limit their food intake by becoming full faster. "It wouldn't take with me. I could eat past it. With anything, it's a lifestyle change," Chrissy said about her relationship with food. "I mean whatever is best for the person, but, like, also for me, with like a bariatric surgery, so much of my food issues, personally, are psychological in that like, yes, you could sort of put a band-aid on the problem," she continued. "But like, What's the bigger issue? There's a bigger issue for me." Aside from her health journey, Chrissy found love again, although she declined to reveal the name of her boyfriend whom she's been with for "almost a year." "It's so great, it's been amazing. It's been really, really wonderful," she said about her romance, adding that she's followed her therapist's belief that putting a relationship on social media is the "worst thing" one can do. After This Is Us came to an end in 2022 after six seasons, Chrissy starred in the 2023 horror film A Creature Was Stirring and appeared in the Netflix comedy Bank of Dave 2: The Loan Ranger, which dropped in January. Chrissy's new children's book is a follow up to her 2023 children's picture book, When I Talk to God, I Talk About You, which she also coauthored with her musician friend Bradley Collins. "It's the second picture book in our children's series and navigates little ones' big feelings with faith and prayer. I simply can't wait for this to be in the world," she told fans in a March 27 Instagram post.
