Dubai Police has signed eight key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with top global tech firms and academic institutions, aiming to boost collaboration in forensic science, AI applications, and criminal research. The agreements were formalised during the World Police Summit 2025, held under the theme 'Beyond the Badge: Envision the Next Era of Policing.' The signing was led by the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology, highlighting Dubai Police's push to stay at the forefront of forensic innovation. Partners include Middlesex University Dubai and the European Forensics Institute for academic research, Axis Communications for biometric fingerprint technology, and Grammatech for AI-driven visual analysis. JAMF will support mobile malware investigations, while Speech Technology Centre Ltd. will assist in advancing digital voice forensics. MGI Tech and FGI Forensic Genomics International will collaborate on cutting-edge DNA analysis. Major General Ahmad Thani bin Ghalita, Director of the department, said the MoUs reflect a strategic vision to integrate advanced technologies and research into the force's forensic operations. 'These collaborations represent a strategic move to stay ahead of the curve by leveraging scientific research, innovation, and advanced technology to reinforce our forensic capabilities,' he stated. He added that working with both academic and private sector leaders supports Dubai Police's mission to achieve global excellence in specialised policing. These agreements underscore Dubai Police's ongoing efforts to build robust partnerships that enhance security services, promote digital awareness, and strengthen crime prevention strategies. The initiative also reflects Dubai Police's vision of fostering a proactive, collaborative security model that brings together government, academia, and the private sector to create innovative and impactful policing solutions. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday lauded Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand for bagging a top international award for his department's anti-narcotics efforts, calling it a proud moment for the State and a step forward in the fight against drugs. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister congratulated Mr Anand for winning the First Prize for Excellence in Anti-Narcotics at the World Police Summit 2025, held in Dubai. The summit, hosted by Dubai Police, recognises global policing efforts across various fields, including narcotics control. 'Our government has been categorical that narcotics pose a serious threat to our society, and cannot be tolerated in the name of 'lifestyle',' Mr Reddy posted. 'Any war against narcotics depends on three factors — political resolve, public support and excellent policing,' he said in a statement. Over the past 16 months, Hyderabad and Telangana police have reportedly stepped up efforts to tackle narcotics using a mix of strategy, intelligence and technology. Mr Anand attributed this momentum to the 'commitment and vision' of the Chief Minister, who, he said, had transformed the anti-drugs drive into a people-backed movement. 'The Chief Minister has been unequivocal and determined to erase this menace to our society, especially our children,' he said, adding that the police would continue working with public support to realise the goal of a drugs-free Telangana.

According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Police, the award was presented to Anum Sher Khan at a prestigious ceremony held at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The award was handed over by the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police. Officers from 192 countries were evaluated across various categories for their exceptional performance. Representing Pakistan, ASP Anum Sher Khan impressed international judges with her expertise and professional conduct, ultimately winning the top honour. The award recognises her outstanding contributions in the field of criminal investigation. Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr Usman Anwar, congratulated Anum Sher Khan on her remarkable achievement, stating, "Her success has brought pride to both Pakistan and the Punjab Police on the world stage." "Talented officers like ASP Anum Sher Khan will play a vital role in future police leadership" he added. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, the World Police Summit is one of the largest and most professional global platforms for police leadership. It recognises officers each year for their outstanding leadership and innovative policing methods. After rigorous assessments and interviews, the awards committee selected two officers from Punjab Police this year. The second honouree, DPO Kasur Muhammad Essa Khan, was awarded second position in the "Best Artificial Intelligence Implementation in Policing" category for his exemplary performance.

H-NEW wins award for anti-narcotics work at World Police Summit

Hyderabad: City police commissioner CV Anand received the ' Excellence in Anti-Narcotics Award ' on Friday at the World Police Summit 2025 (WPS) held in Dubai. The even saw the participation of 138 countries and awards were given under 12 different categories. The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing ( H-NEW ) was selected in one of the 12 categories for its work in anti-narcotics enforcement . The Hyderabad CP, who is the head of H-NEW, received the award. "I spoke about issues related to narcotics faced by India, especially after Covid, the ways in which drugs are entering the country and the various gangs apprehended. H-New's awareness campaigns in educational institutions through anti-drug committees as well as rehabilitation measures were highlighted," Anand said. The other 11 categories are: Excellence in Road Safety, Best Innovative Idea in Security and Law Enforcement, Best Artificial Intelligence Implementation in Policing, Excellence in Forensic Science, Good Samaritan, Excellence in Customer Service in Policing, People of Determination Excellence, Startups Innovation, Inspiring Female Officer, and Best Police Application Award.
