XSite Braehead to host wrestling event this weekend
XSite Braehead will welcome the country's premier wrestling organisation, Grassroots Wrestling Scotland, for a series of matches on August 16. The event will kick off from noon with taster sessions that will invite visitors into the ring to give wrestling a shot. This will be followed by a session from 1pm to 2pm aimed at encouraging the next generation of young wrestlers, with visitors aged five and up invited to make their own wrestling entrances. From 2pm to 5pm, the pros will take to the stage for the three-hour wrestling show. The event is free to attend, however, registration is encouraged to take part in the taster sessions. Those interested in attending can secure a spot online at Bruce Harley, centre manager at XSite Braehead, said: 'We're excited to host Grassroots Wrestling Scotland for another action-packed event. Free summer festival set to return to XSite Braehead
XSite Braehead's Summer Fest is back to offer a weekend full of free family fun. The event will run on July 26 and 27, from noon to 6pm each day. Read more: More: Free family event bringing blockbuster characters to life in Glasgow Fort Visitors can expect a mix of live music, arts and crafts, and festival-themed activities throughout the weekend. There will be no shortage of free creative activities for little ones to enjoy, including glitter tattoos, balloon modelling, braid styling, and more. Moreover, this year's festival will see the introduction of new circus workshops, where visitors can test their skills with spinning plates, juggling silks, balancing ostrich feathers, and a follow-the-feet tightrope challenge. There will also be roaming stilt walkers and giant bubbles floating around to entertain visitors. On top of all this, visitors can look forward to a packed line-up of live music. Returning headliner Daniel Docherty will perform alongside support act WooHoo Band, playing a variety of tunes to get the crowd singing. The festivities continue with a dance itinerary from Strictly St Vincent from 3.30pm to 5.30pm on Saturday. The line-up includes performances from 2024 Strictly St Vincent winners Ian and Karen, audience participation, photo opportunities, and a Q&A with some of the professional dancers. This dance event offers a preview of Strictly St Vincent's upcoming charity dance event on November 21 at Ingliston Country Club. Moreover, people will also have the chance to win £500 worth of prizes, with Capital Scotland's Katy J giving five listeners the opportunity to win a £100 voucher from brands at XSite, including ODEON, Gravity, Paradise Island Adventure Golf, Frankie & Benny's, and The Good Hood. Thousands visit Lanarkshire Classic Car Club event and help raise funds for CHAS
'We were blown away by the turnout from car enthusiasts and the incredible variety of vehicles' A classic car show organised by a Lanarkshire club has raised £1350 in for Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS). The hugely successful Chrome 'n' Classics day was organised by Lanarkshire Classic Car Club in partnership with XSite Braehead, who hosted the event on Saturday, June 28. Making its debut at XSite, thousands of visitors flocked to the event to see the showcase of over 200 classic cars bringing together American and vintage icons, custom builds, and modern marvels for attendees to admire. The attendance exceeded expectations and was supported by the club's 220-strong membership, marking one of the highest turnouts in the club's history. Bruce Harley, XSite centre manager, said: 'We were blown away by the turnout from car enthusiasts and the incredible variety of vehicles on display. Chrome 'n' Classics was a brilliant way to bring the community together while supporting a fantastic charity.' The car club has been supporting CHAS since 2018, the hospice charity cares for and supports children with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Charity donations buckets are out at all of the club's events. Kenny Moffat, club president at Lanarkshire Classic Car Club, said: 'We couldn't be happier with the turnout and the buzz on the day. This was our first time bringing Chrome 'n' Classics to XSite Braehead and it exceeded all expectations. Glasgow restaurant marking third birthday with free food
Rickshaw & Co, in Partick Bridge Street, is marking three years of serving Indian and Bangladeshi food in Glasgow's west end by offering customers free and discounted food. Birthday celebrations for the popular eatery, previously crowned the Curry Kings of Glasgow at the Scottish Asian Curry Awards, are due to take place between June 16 to 19. For the remaining celebration, customers will receive discounts on their food bills, including 50% off on Monday and Tuesday, and 25% off on Wednesday and Thursday. The owners of the popular restaurant, known for its "bold, street-food-inspired flavours and warm hospitality", hope the celebrations will provide a chance for customers to experience the flavoursome food at a good price. Hundreds of classic and vintage cars to descend on Braehead for awards
The event will last from 11am to 3pm and it will see more than 200 classic, custom, American and vintage cars arrive for an event which will see a number of awards handed out. Category awards including Best Show 'n' Shine, Best Restoration, Best American/Custom, Best Classic Car and the Public's Choice Award will be handed out to those in attendance.
