Sarvai Papanna Goud Remembered on his 375 birth Anniversary, MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy paid rich tributes

Mahbubnagar: Mahbubnagar MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy paid rich tributes to legendary Bahujan warrior Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud on his 375th birth anniversary in Mahabubnagar on Monday. Garlanding Papanna's statue in the district, the MLA describied him as a true revolutionary who proved that when the oppressed and Bahujans unite, they can achieve political power. At a program held at Padmavati Colony, Green Belt in Mahbubnagar, the MLA garlanded Papanna's statue and recalled his remarkable contribution to social justice and people's empowerment nearly 350 years ago. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that Papanna was the first Bahujan king who, in the 17th century, raised his own army, fought against feudal lords and jagirdars, and established a Bahujan kingdom with Khilashapur as his capital. 'Papanna Goud dreamt of a society without caste, religious, or communal divisions and stood as a symbol of courage and social justice, much before Mahatma Jyotirao Phule,' he said. He narrated how Papanna united Bahujans, Dalits, and minorities, formed a guerrilla army, looted the wealth of landlords, and distributed it among the poor. In 1675, he established his rule with Sarvaipet as the center and expanded his territory by capturing several estates. After Aurangzeb's death, Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah recognized Papanna's authority and even offered him a treaty, making him ruler of Golconda Fort. 'For the first time, the Bahujan flag fluttered atop Golconda Fort,' the MLA added. However, unable to tolerate his rule, landlords and feudal chiefs conspired with the Mughal rulers to dethrone him. Though Papanna fought valiantly, he was severely injured, and his death remains shrouded in legend. 'Yet, he lives forever in the hearts of Telangana's people as a symbol of Bahujan pride and resistance,' said Srinivas Reddy. The MLA announced that the Telangana government, under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and PCC Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, would officially organize Papanna's birth and death anniversaries. He also revealed plans to install a statue of Papanna at Tank Bund, Hyderabad, and to set up his statues in villages across Telangana so that future generations learn about his history. Highlighting the Congress government's commitment to social justice, he reminded that the Assembly had already passed a resolution providing 42% reservation for Backward Classes, though the BJP-led central government opposed it. 'We fought in Delhi to ensure Bahujan rights, and we will continue the struggle,' he asserted. The event was attended by Minority Finance Corporation Chairman Obaidullah Kotwal, District Collector Vijayendra Boi, TPCC General Secretary Mithun Reddy, District Library Chairman Mallu Narasimha Reddy, Market Committee Chairperson Bekkari Anita Madhusudan Reddy, former Municipal Chairman Anand Goud, and several other leaders and dignitaries.

MLA Yennam: 'We Will Make One Crore Women Millionaires'

Mahabubnagar: In a grand celebration of Indira Mahila Shakti Vijayotsavam held at Shilparamam in Mahabubnagar, local MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy declared that the government's goal is to empower one crore women to become millionaires. Speaking at the event as the chief guest, he said that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is working with the vision of standing as an elder brother to women and is sincerely striving for their upliftment. He recalled that within just three days of taking charge as Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy fulfilled the promise of providing free RTC bus travel for women. In addition to that, the government has launched various initiatives such as subsidised LPG cylinders, Mahila Shakti canteens, petrol bunks, and ownership of RTC buses by women, to create income-generating avenues. He stated that women are fully capable of taking up responsibilities and achieving success. As proof, he highlighted that last year, the responsibility of managing Amma Adarsha Schools was entrusted to women's self-help groups, and this resulted in excellent outcomes. This academic year alone, over 1.9 lakh children were newly enrolled in government schools — a clear testimony to the efforts and success of women. Yennam Srinivas Reddy further said that the government is committed to its promises. As per its assurance, proceedings for 3,500 Indiramma houses have already been issued to eligible beneficiaries this year, and another 3,500 houses will be allotted next year. He proudly claimed that Mahabubnagar is transforming into a 'Mahila Nagar' because of the success stories of local women. With 30,000 women self-help groups active in the district, he directed officials to immediately prepare reports for establishing the Mayuri Co-operative Society to further strengthen women's economic participation. The MLA noted that as part of his vision to develop Mahabubnagar as an educational hub, Law and Engineering colleges have been established at Palamuru University. This progress has attracted students from across the united Mahabubnagar district to pursue their education in the city. He also requested the District Collector to allocate one acre of land for the construction of a hostel exclusively for BC girl students, to be managed by SHG women. He expressed his hope that women should be partners in every business and wished that Mahila Sangha members of Mahabubnagar would become role models for the entire Telangana state. As part of the program, interest-free loans worth ₹1.67 crore were distributed to women SHG members, and another ₹7.90 crore in loans were arranged through banks. The families of two SHG women members who died in accidents were handed over ₹10 lakh each in financial assistance. The event also honoured successful women leaders from various SHGs, including Lahari, Anita, Varalakshmi, Hemalatha, and Irfana Begum. Later, the MLA, along with District Collector Viziendira Boi, inaugurated a Food Festival organised by the Mahila Samakhya. Other dignitaries present included Additional Collector Shivendra Pratap, MUDA Chairman Lakshman Yadav, Market Committee Chairperson Bekkari Anita Madhusudan Reddy, DRDA PD Narsimhulu, DRDO Additional PD Sharada, SERP Director Kashi Vishweshwarayya, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Praveen Kumar Reddy, DCC General Secretary Siraj Khadri, former Municipal Vice Chairman Shabbir Ahmad, ex-Municipal Councillors, and hundreds of women from various SHGs.

MLA Yennam distributes free study material to govt job aspirants

Mahabubnagar: MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy on Monday distributed free study material to unemployed youth undergoing coaching for competitive exams under the 'Mahabubnagar First' initiative. The event was held at the MLA's camp office, where the MLA personally handed over the material and extended his best wishes to the aspirants. Addressing the gathering, the MLA said that education is the key to a better future and urged youth not to waste time, but to prepare seriously for the upcoming government job notifications. He stated that every vacant post in the government sector will be filled, and only eligible candidates will be selected. The MLA assured that job notifications in the Revenue and Police departments are expected soon. He emphasized that court cases are delaying recruitment, especially Group-1, due to the negligence of the previous government, which failed to issue notifications in the last ten years. Cadastral map of the lake mentioned in MLAs' petition vanishes from the HMDA website

Four Congress party legislators approached the High Court on Monday (June 16) with a public interest litigation, alleging encroachment and fraudulent deals on a land parcel in Khajaguda village which they contend as belonging to government, and where a reputed builder is raising an expensive condominium complex. In the petition, the legislators — Janampalli Anirudh Reddy, Yennam Srinivas Reddy, Murali Naik Bhukya and Kuchkulla Rajesh Reddy — alleged that the venture encroached upon a lake in Khajaguda, apart from the government land. The satellite images from April this year show that a large portion of the lake's FTL area has been cleared and levelled and a path has been made through the lake for the heavy vehicles to ply to the construction site. A compound wall and temporary structures can be seen encroaching into the buffer area, as demarcated in the Irrigation department maps. The lake in question is mentioned as Nanakram Kunta in Nanakramguda village of the Rangareddy district in the records of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, with the lake id, 3712. Final notification for the lake was issued in May, 2016, two years after the preliminary notification. Since all the lakes within the Outer Ring Road have been brought under the lake protection committee constituted with the chief of the Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency Mr. Anirudh Reddy also brought the issue to Mr. Ranganath's notice through a letter in March this year. In the petition to the High Court, the petitioners alleged manipulation of the survey numbers by the Revenue department leading to the fraudulent transactions. Arousing suspicions on that front, the cadastral map of the lake has vanished from the HMDA's website, where the survey numbers and their locations within the lake's boundaries and outside are to be found. Instead, a document with merely the survey numbers in FTL & buffer areas is uploaded, where the government land within the lake's FTL is mentioned as 6 acres and 17 guntas, and within buffer, as 34 guntas. The FTL (full tank level) map of the lake mentions the area of the water body as 6.52 acres. The water spread area, through remaining below 50% during the past 15 years, could have been much higher as can be seen from the historical satellite images from Google Earth. An image from October 2022 shows water spread even in the area outside the FTL map, which is corroborated by the contours shown by an elevation path. The sprawling campus of Maulana Azad National Urdu University serves as the catchment for Nanakram Kunta as do the open lands in the surrounding areas which sustain several lakes such as Bhageerathamma Cheruvu, Khajaguda Pedda Cheruvu and Yellamma Cheruvu in the vicinity. The project has been registered with the Real Estate Regulatory Authority, with a building permission by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. An online realty portal mentions the price of the luxury apartments ranging between ₹6.5 crore and ₹19 crore. Interestingly enough, a pictorial representation of the venture on the builder's website shows several surrounding lakes, including Bhageerathamma Cheruvu, Khajaguda Pedda Cheruvu, Yellamma Cheruvu, and other minor water bodies too, but not the lake on the banks of which it is coming up.
