Bihar CM Nitish Kumar announces 35% reservation to native women

Patna (Bihar) [India], July 9 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced on Wednesday that his government has decided to provide 35% horizontal reservation to native women candidates of Bihar in all direct recruitments across government posts and cadres, including contractual and outsourced appointments. The Cabinet approved a 35 per cent horizontal reservation for women native to Bihar in state government services on Tuesday. In a post shared on the social media platform X, Kumar wrote, 'Everyone knows that it has been decided to grant 35 per cent horizontal reservation exclusively to female candidates who are native residents of Bihar for direct appointments to all levels and types of posts in all government services/cadres of Bihar state.' He informed that the recruitment process for 1,51,579 vacancies is currently underway and that the reservation benefit would apply throughout the recruitment cycle. He wrote, 'Currently, the appointment process is underway for 1,51,579 vacancies. In these appointments, which will take place in various phases, only female candidates who are native residents of Bihar will be eligible for the 35 percent horizontal reservation benefit.' The Chief Minister also announced that women domiciled in Bihar would receive the same 35% reservation benefit in contractual or outsourced job appointments. He said, 'Additionally, this benefit will also apply to female candidates who are native residents of Bihar for appointments made on a contract or outsourced basis. All departments have been instructed to take prompt action to fill all available vacancies so that the youth can benefit from this.' He reiterated the government's broader vision ibn his post and wrote, 'We are committed to ensuring women's empowerment and active and positive participation of women in society.' Bihar cabinet on Tuesday had approved 43 schemes and projects, including the formation of the Bihar Youth Commission and Rs 100 diesel subsidy for farmers. 'The second important decision related to general administration is that only women native to the state will be allowed 35 per cent horizontal reservation on all posts in direct appointment in all government service cadres of Bihar state,' Bihar Chief Secretary S Siddharth told reporters. Chief Secretary Siddharth said, 'Today, 43 agendas have been stamped in the Council of Ministers, in which the most important agenda is the formation of the Youth Commission. This commission is related to the youth of 18-45 years, which will have one chairman, two vice-chairmen and seven members.' He added, 'The beneficiary group related to this includes migrants working and studying outside the State, students pursuing higher secondary education, students pursuing degree courses, unemployed youth, economically weak meritorious students and any other group of youth on which the Youth Commission deems worthy of intervention.' Taking into consideration irregular monsoons and drought, a diesel subsidy of Rs 100 crore has been approved for farmers. 'The subsidy will be applicable for paddy, maize, barley, oilseeds and jute crops, and seasonal vegetable and medicinal plants,' he said. Apart from this, the cabinet approved a Divyangjan Civil Seva Protsahan Scheme, under which differently abled people will be given Rs 50,000 and Rs 1 lakh on passing the prelims of UPSC and BPSC exams. New Delhi [India], July 9 (ANI): Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, on Tuesday welcomed the decision of the Bihar cabinet to constitute a Youth Commission for the betterment of young people in the state. Speaking to ANI, MoS Rai said that this decision will prove beneficial in providing more employment opportunities to the youth of Bihar and making them self-reliant. 'The formation of the Youth Commission is important and historic in the direction of making the youth of Bihar self-reliant and capable of moving forward towards development and progress,' the minister said. Rai also welcomed the state cabinet's decision to provide 35% reservation for women in state government jobs, saying that this will provide large-scale employment opportunities for women in Bihar. 'They will get more employment opportunities. This will lead to faster progress of women. Participation of women ensured more rapidly in strongly advancing the resolution of developed India and developed Bihar,' he said. 'Under the leadership of Modi Ji and Nitish Kumar, the progress and prosperity of women, youth, poor, and farmers are the first priorities, so I congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as the NDA government of Bihar,' he added. Highlighting the 'many historic decisions' of the Janata Dal (United)-led government, the Ujiapur MP said that such decisions are for the empowerment and upliftment of women and weaker sections. 'The NDA government of Bihar has already taken many historic decisions,' he said. Under the Road Construction Department, the cabinet has given the nod to Hisua bypass. Worth Rs 35.29 crore, it will be about 2.9 km long and is expected to give relief against traffic jam at Hisua Baazaar. Earlier today, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced the Bihar Youth Commission stating that move is aimed at providing more employment opportunities to the youth. Sharing a post on X, Nitish Kumar wrote, 'I am pleased to inform that with the aim of providing more and more employment opportunities to the youth of Bihar, training them, and making them empowered and capable, the state government has decided to form the Bihar Youth Commission, and today the cabinet has also approved the formation of the Bihar Youth Commission.' He added that the commission will coordinate with government departments to ensure better education and employment for the youth. 'This commission will play a significant role in advising the government on all matters related to improving and uplifting the condition of youth in society. The commission will also coordinate with government departments to ensure better education and employment for the youth,' Kumar wrote in the X post. 'The Bihar Youth Commission will consist of one chairperson, two vice-chairpersons, and seven members, with a maximum age limit of 45 years. This commission will monitor that local youth of the state are given priority in private sector employment within the state, while also protecting the interests of youth studying and working outside the state,' the X post read. The Chief Minister stated that the commission will also prepare programmes to tackle the issues of alcohol and other intoxicants. 'Preparing programs to prevent social evils such as alcohol and other intoxicants and making recommendations to the government in such matters will also be its important task. The objective of this visionary initiative of the state government is to make the youth self-reliant, skilled, and employment-oriented through this commission so that their future is secure,' Nitish Kumar said. Young people in Guernsey invited on board youth club bus

A charity is providing a free youth club bus to support young people across Guernsey over the summer. The Youth Commission of Guernsey and Alderney has created "The Bus Stop" aiming to provide "a space for children to socialise, access support, and engage in activities that inspire and prepare them for the future".Emmie Bougourd, Youth Commission outreach lead, said young people needed access to "safe spaces, support, and informal education" and the bus would allow them to reach more children. Following its launch on Liberation Day, the charity has announced a list of dates and venues the bus will visit areas across the island. The charity said the free service was open to anyone up to the age of 18 and would be manned by trained youth support workers. The bus will be touring throughout the May half term break, followed by further dates in June and July. Ms Bougourd said its outreach youth work was about "removing barriers, whether social, economic, behavioural, or geographic".She added the bus would "ensure equal access to vital information, resources, and opportunities", wherever young people were on the island.
