Patna (Bihar) [India], July 9 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced on Wednesday that his government has decided to provide 35% horizontal reservation to native women candidates of Bihar in all direct recruitments across government posts and cadres, including contractual and outsourced appointments.
The Cabinet approved a 35 per cent horizontal reservation for women native to Bihar in state government services on Tuesday.
In a post shared on the social media platform X, Kumar wrote, 'Everyone knows that it has been decided to grant 35 per cent horizontal reservation exclusively to female candidates who are native residents of Bihar for direct appointments to all levels and types of posts in all government services/cadres of Bihar state.'
He informed that the recruitment process for 1,51,579 vacancies is currently underway and that the reservation benefit would apply throughout the recruitment cycle.
He wrote, 'Currently, the appointment process is underway for 1,51,579 vacancies. In these appointments, which will take place in various phases, only female candidates who are native residents of Bihar will be eligible for the 35 percent horizontal reservation benefit.'
The Chief Minister also announced that women domiciled in Bihar would receive the same 35% reservation benefit in contractual or outsourced job appointments.
He said, 'Additionally, this benefit will also apply to female candidates who are native residents of Bihar for appointments made on a contract or outsourced basis. All departments have been instructed to take prompt action to fill all available vacancies so that the youth can benefit from this.'
He reiterated the government's broader vision ibn his post and wrote, 'We are committed to ensuring women's empowerment and active and positive participation of women in society.'
Bihar cabinet on Tuesday had approved 43 schemes and projects, including the formation of the Bihar Youth Commission and Rs 100 diesel subsidy for farmers.
'The second important decision related to general administration is that only women native to the state will be allowed 35 per cent horizontal reservation on all posts in direct appointment in all government service cadres of Bihar state,' Bihar Chief Secretary S Siddharth told reporters.
Chief Secretary Siddharth said, 'Today, 43 agendas have been stamped in the Council of Ministers, in which the most important agenda is the formation of the Youth Commission. This commission is related to the youth of 18-45 years, which will have one chairman, two vice-chairmen and seven members.'
He added, 'The beneficiary group related to this includes migrants working and studying outside the State, students pursuing higher secondary education, students pursuing degree courses, unemployed youth, economically weak meritorious students and any other group of youth on which the Youth Commission deems worthy of intervention.'
Taking into consideration irregular monsoons and drought, a diesel subsidy of Rs 100 crore has been approved for farmers.
'The subsidy will be applicable for paddy, maize, barley, oilseeds and jute crops, and seasonal vegetable and medicinal plants,' he said.
Apart from this, the cabinet approved a Divyangjan Civil Seva Protsahan Scheme, under which differently abled people will be given Rs 50,000 and Rs 1 lakh on passing the prelims of UPSC and BPSC exams. (ANI)

'It is difficult to find ... ': DK Shivakumar's 'chair' remark sparks fresh buzz; day after Siddaramaiah's leadership change denial

Karnataka deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar (Image credits: PTI) NEW DELHI: Karnataka deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday triggered fresh political speculation with a cryptic comment involving "chairs" just a day after chief minister Siddaramaiah dismissed any possibility of a leadership change and reaffirmed that he would serve a full term. Shivakumar made a metaphor-laced statement that drew attention while speaking at the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanti celebrations organised by the Bangalore Bar Association. "There are so many chairs, come and sit. It is difficult to find a chair. When you find a chair, you have to come and sit on the raft," he said, addressing a gathering of lawyers. "If you look at yourself, you all look like tyagis (those who renounce)," he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. The remark, delivered with a touch of humour, is being widely interpreted as a veiled reference to the ongoing buzz around a potential power shift in Karnataka, an issue that has resurfaced despite repeated denials from the Congress high command. "It seems many of you are very sacrificial by nature. Such a good building has been made with great chairs, make use of the opportunities when you get them," he added. The light-hearted remarks were seen by many as a veiled reference to the long-rumoured power-sharing arrangement within the ruling Congress, under which Shivakumar was expected to succeed Siddaramaiah halfway through the five-year term. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Prijenosni laserski pištolji za zavarivanje, 50% popusta Saznajte više Undo Reports of such an informal agreement have persisted since the Congress formed the government in May 2023, with speculation that Siddaramaiah would lead for the first two-and-a-half years before Shivakumar took over. However, both leaders have publicly denied any such deal. During the event, Shivakumar also announced several initiatives to support the Bar Association, including the allocation of 10 acres of land, financial assistance, and annual awards in the name of Kempegowda. He said that the Greater Bangalore Authority (GBA) would provide Rs 5 crore for the association's development, and Rs 5 lakh annually would be allocated for Kempegowda Jayanti celebrations. Additionally, two lawyers will be honored each year with the Kempegowda Award. Speaking about infrastructure, Shivakumar mentioned that the solar grid system for the association's building would be inspected within a week. On the issue of land, he promised 10 acres of revenue land, depending on availability, and encouraged the association to identify suitable land within 20 km of the city for the government to allocate. Reaffirming the state's commitment to Kempegowda's legacy, Shivakumar highlighted the role of the Greater Bangalore Authority in preserving the founder's vision. He also announced plans for a Rs 1 lakh crore investment in upcoming urban development projects in Bengaluru, with cooperation from the governor and opposition leaders. He emphasised Kempegowda's planning and contribution to Bengaluru's early growth, saying, "Bangalore is not a planned city. But Kempegowda was the one who built the city in a planned manner. He implemented Krishnadevaraya's ideas here. He built and lit up this town to promote trade and commerce.' Shivakumar also reflected on his personal journey, stating, ' I have my own dreams for this city. Speaking at a media conference after coming out of Tihar Jail, I said that I was born a farmer, then a businessman, accidentally an education lover, and a politician by choice. I dreamed of becoming a politician in my school days. From there, I organised and raised it.'

Stay cautious against those who try to divide Hindus and Sikhs: Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday claimed attempts were being made to drive a wedge between the Hindus and Sikhs, and urged the people to be wary of such actions. He also claimed that the now-behind bars, Chhangur Baba of Balrampur, had fixed rates for religious conversions, leading to transactions to the tune of Rs 100 crore. Adityanath made the remarks at the flagging-off of UP-Delhi Balidan Sandesh Yatra, being held to mark the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur. He said that some cases of conversion have come to the fore in Pilibhit also, and asked the people to be a "little cautious" of religious conversions. "You must have seen what kind of conspiracy is going on. We have recently taken a big action in Balrampur. You must have seen that he had fixed the rates. That is, how to take forward the programme of conversion. He had fixed the rates for converting Hindus, Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Sikhs, other OBC castes, Scheduled Castes and (Scheduled) Tribes. Money was coming in from abroad. Just think, transactions worth more than Rs 100 crore have been received in his 40 accounts so far," the chief minister said. Live Events He said that he had dispatched a team to the district to conduct ' ghar wapsi ' (returning to original faith) of the converted. The UP Anti-Terrorism Squad on July 6 arrested Jalaluddin alias Chhangur Baba and Neetu alias Nasreen, both natives of Madhpur in Balrampur district, for allegedly running a massive conversion racket. The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday said it had found inputs that suggested that the man amassed funds worth about Rs 106 crore, mainly from the Middle East, in 40 bank accounts linked to him and his associates, agency sources said. At the event, Adityanath paid his tributes to the Sikh gurus and hailed them for their sacrifice. "Circumstances have changed. Their objective is the same as it was at that time. Yes, they have changed their way of working. And this event is inspiring all of us for the purpose for which the Sikh Gurus had sacrificed their lives," he said. "Remember that many people will try to create divisions between Hindus and Sikhs ... There is a conspiracy among us to divide us and weaken us. Who will save us from this? We will have to be cautious," the BJP leader said. Adityanath also mentioned Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb and denounced him for his atrocities. "What a time it must have been when there was a cruel and brutal ruler like Aurangzeb. At that time, news of atrocities came from not just one place but from everywhere," he said. He said the ruler started a massive campaign of Islamisation, which was challenged by Guru Teg Bahadur Ji Maharaj. "And what atrocities were not committed on him," he said.

South given only their money, cess up 600%: Congress debunks Amit Shah's claim in TNIE interview

Reacting to union home minister Amit Shah's interview with the TNIE, on Saturday, chairman, Professionals' Congress & Data Analytics (Indian National Congress) Praveen Chakravarty chose to debunk some of the claims made by the union minister. On the claim that total allotment to five states in south India under tax devolution during the Narendra Modi government had increased in Grants-in-aid, Praveen Chakravarty reacted saying, "not true." He further added, "It belonged to the states. That's number one. No one is giving. There's not some of your money that you're transferring over. They're not some rulers here. They're not kings here. Number two, the Union government imposed what's called cess and surcharge." Praveen Chakravarty further added that the cess and surcharge has gone up 600% in the last 11 years. "And what does cess and surcharge mean? It means I will keep that money only for the Union government and not share it with the state governments. That's what cess and surcharge means. So they've actually kept more money for themselves instead of giving to states what legitimately belong to the states' Amit Shah had said that the total allotment to the five states under tax devolution during the Modi government has gone up to Rs 10,96,754 crore from Rs 3,55,466 crore, a 209 per cent increase. Grants-in-aid now stand at Rs 9,38,518 crore—it was Rs 2,18,053 crore during the UPA. That's a 330 per cent rise. Tamil Nadu saw a 207 per cent growth in tax devolution—from Rs 94,977 crore to Rs 2.92 lakh crore. And grants-in-aid increased by 342 per cent—from Rs 57,924 crore to Rs 2.55 lakh crore. On the Telangana census, Shah had said: What they are doing in Telangana is a survey. We are doing a census. There is a difference. In Karnataka, they tried, but had to scrap it. The Congress leader reacted thus, 'He (Shah) said that it was a caste survey in the state not census. I'm the convener of the Telangana consensus committee. I'm writing a 300 page report. I think the question was, I remember, if I remember right, that the Union government announced the caste census on pressure."
