Viola Davis' 15-Year-Old Daughter Hits the Red Carpet With Labubu
Viola Davis' 15-Year-Old Daughter Hits the Red Carpet With Labubu originally appeared on Parade. Just days after celebrating her 60th birthday in Mexico, Viola Davis hit up the Television Academy Hall of Fame Ceremony in Los Angeles. While she attended the event with longtime friend Sally Field, she also brought along the two most important people in her life: husband Julius Tennon and their 15-year-old daughter Genesis. Though the EGOT winner occasionally posts photos of Genesis — whom she and Tennon adopted in 2011, one year after her birth — the teen has made multiple red carpet appearances with her mom. Posing for photos at the Saturday, August 16 event, both mother and daughter wowed in brightly colored dresses: Davis donned an orange frock (showing off her abs with a perfect hip cut-out) while Genesis rocked a bold red dress that featured double straps. Most importantly, she also donned a classic Louis Vuitton purse with a matching gray Labubu attached. Genesis complemented her crimson look with a matching ruby lip and red highlights interspersed throughout her braids. In addition to Davis' own birthday celebration — during which she boasted a new 'do as well as some steamy photos — the family feted Genesis on her 15th birthday in July. Sharing a sweet family photo, the How to Get Away With Murder alum captioned the picture: "And just like baby is 15. Love you to the moon the moon......❤️❤️❤️," View this post on Instagram A post shared by VIOLA DAVIS (@violadavis) Prior to the Television Academy Hall of Fame Ceremony, Genesis' most recent red carpet appearance was in May, when she and Davis hit up the 14th Annual City Year Los Angeles Spring Break Gala together. Always showcasing their bright personalities with bold colors, the Help star wore a kelly green blazer, while Genesis opted for a pin-striped baby blue tee — her beloved gray-and-white Louis hanging from her shoulder (no Labubu this time). Viola Davis' 15-Year-Old Daughter Hits the Red Carpet With Labubu first appeared on Parade on Aug 17, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Aug 17, 2025, where it first appeared.

Beyoncé has added yet another award to her mantle overnight, but it's a first-time win at the ceremony in question. The singer is set to be awarded the Primetime Emmy award after the Television Academy announced the winners of the 77th Emmy Awards in juried categories on Tuesday for her costume design in her Netflix special Beyoncé Bowl, in the category of Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Programming. It marks the first time in her career that she has earned an Emmy win. Beyoncé Bowl was a halftime show on NFL Christmas Gameday in Houston, Texas, which at its peak drew in over 27 million viewers in the United States alone, making it the most-streamed NFL game in history at the time. The win also puts her one step towards earning the coveted EGOT - but what does Beyoncé need to complete that achievement? What is an EGOT? An EGOT is a highly coveted and rare achievement in the entertainment industry. The acronym stands for the four major American awards in performing arts: an Emmy for television, a Grammy for music, an Oscar for film, and a Tony for theatre. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad To become an EGOT winner, an individual must win at least one competitive award from each of these four ceremonies. This "grand slam" of show business has been achieved by only a select few, including notable figures such as Richard Rodgers, Rita Moreno, Audrey Hepburn, Whoopi Goldberg, and John Legend. What does Beyoncé need to earn the EGOT? With a record-breaking 35 Grammy Awards and now a Primetime Emmy under her belt, Beyoncé only needs two more award wins to complete the EGOT. They would be an Oscar victory, which the singer came close to achieving after 'Be Alive' from the movie 'King Richard' earned a Best Original Song nod, and a Tony Award, which she has yet to receive a nomination for in her career. But at only 43 years of age, there's plenty of time for her to swap the stadium for the stage and potentially earn that Tony nomination. What other pop superstar is one award closer to winning the EGOT than Beyoncé? Check out our article on the other candidate for EGOT success.

Beyoncé Wins First Emmy for N.F.L. Halftime Show
Nearly three decades into show business and 35 Grammys later, Beyoncé has won her first Emmy. The win brings her one step closer to EGOT status. Beyoncé won a Primetime Emmy Award for outstanding costumes for variety, nonfiction or reality programming alongside five collaborators for 'Beyoncé Bowl,' her N.F.L. halftime performance that streamed live on Netflix on Christmas Day during a game between the Houston Texans and the Baltimore Ravens. The award was one of several announced on Tuesday by the Television Academy in juried categories that recognized creative achievement in animation, costume, emerging media programming and motion design. For juried categories, entrants are screened and evaluated by a panel of professionals with the possibility of one, more than one or no one winning an award. 'As a result, there are no nominees but instead a one-step evaluation and voting procedure,' a news release from the Television Academy said. The honors will be presented next month at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. Beyoncé's 13-minute western-themed performance — which took place in Houston, her hometown — showcased songs from her latest album, 'Cowboy Carter,' including '16 Carriages,' 'Blackbird' and 'Ya Ya,' and was a precursor to her world tour. Her performance, which was part of Netflix's first foray into live professional football streaming, drew an audience of 27 million, according to Nielsen. It also led to the hashtag #BeyonceBowl outranking #Christmas on X, according to Netflix. For her work on 'Beyoncé Bowl,' the pop superstar is also nominated for two additional Primetime Emmys for outstanding directing for a variety special and for outstanding variety special. Before this win, Beyoncé had received several other Emmy nominations: four for her 2019 'Homecoming' film, two for her 2016 'Lemonade' HBO special, one for her 'On the Run' HBO special with her husband, Jay-Z, in 2014, and one for her Super Bowl halftime show from 2013.

Beyoncé Is Officially Halfway to EGOT Status
Beyoncé now has an Emmy award, on top of her 35 Grammy awards, placing her halfway to EGOT status. Named for four of the entertainment world's biggest awards, an 'EGOT' winner is an individual who has achieved the extremely rare honor of winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award in competitive categories. Now, Beyoncé is en route to an EGOT after she won an Emmy for 'Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Programming' for the costumes on the Netflix special Beyoncé Bowl, which aired during the halftime of the NFL Christmas game between the Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans. She shares the win with Shiona Turini, Erica Rice and Molly Peters, Chelsea Staebell, and Timothy White. Per NBC News, 'The award was among a handful of so-called juried Emmys announced Tuesday that are determined outside the regular voting process and given out by committees, with no official nominees. They are usually highly technical — several involve individual elements of the animation process — and rarely go to famous names.' Beyoncé is still up for two Emmy awards in the categories of Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special and Outstanding Variety Special, which will be announced at the ceremony next month. While Beyoncé has never competed at the Tonys, she has been nominated for an Oscar once before, for Best Original Song for 'Be Alive' from the 2022 film King Richard, but lost to Billie Eilish and Finneas for 'No Time to Die.' The last EGOT winners to join the exclusive list were songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and singer Elton John.
