Hybrid V8 Means a Wild M5, But AC Schnitzer Wants More The 2025 BMW M5 is no longer just a muscular gas-powered brute. With the G90 sedan and G99 Touring, BMW has added a plug-in hybrid twist to the formula, pairing a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 with electric power to generate a staggering 717 horsepower right out of the box. Whether you choose the sedan or the long-roof version, the result is a capable machine that blends Autobahn pace with electric efficiency. 0:02 / 0:09 Audi A5 replaces A4: So, what's changed? Watch More But for AC Schnitzer, the M5's standard firepower wasn't enough. The German tuning firm, known for adding sharp edges to BMW's most capable models, has rolled out a preview of its full upgrade package for the new M5 duo. The result is a sedan or a wagon that's more powerful and noticeably beefier. M5 Gets Angrier, Louder, and 82 Horses Stronger As expected from AC Schnitzer, the German tuner is preparing a performance tune that will raise system output to 799 hp, or 82 more than the standard M5. The tuner hasn't fully revealed how this is achieved, but it's expected to come primarily from the combustion engine side, possibly boosting the 4.4-liter V8 to around 660 hp. Torque figures are still under wraps, but a bump over the stock 553 lb-ft is expected. The upgrade includes a full warranty, maintaining peace of mind even with the added firepower. Visual changes are just as serious. The car gains a more aggressive front splitter, canard-style side wings, chunkier side skirts, and a new rear diffuser. The three-box sedan gets a trunk lip spoiler, while the family-oriented wagon receives a roof wing. Ride height is lowered by 0.79 inches front and rear via revised springs for sharper handling. Wrapped in wide rubber, they're paired with optional spacers if you want to stick to factory wheels. The quad 4.3-inch 'Carbon Sport' exhaust tips finish off the visual and aural drama. In Development, But Coming Soon Inside, you'll find aluminum trim pieces including pedals, an iDrive controller cover, and a matching key holder – minor but tasteful upgrades in keeping with the car's sharpened focus. All components of the AC Schnitzer M5 package are currently in development, with pricing and availability to be announced later in 2025. As always, Schnitzer's upgrades serve as a more radical, performance-focused alternative to BMW's own M Performance Parts line. About the Author Jacob Oliva View Profile

This is Mansory's take on the G90 BMW M5
This is Mansory's take on the G90 BMW M5 You be the judge. And while you're doing that, consider the 4.4-litre biturbo V8's now good for 838bhp... Skip 6 photos in the image carousel and continue reading Turn on Javascript to see all the available pictures. 1 / 6 Might we interest you in some automotive smelling salts to clear that Monday fug? Mansory has the goods with its new G90-generation M5 kit, and we'll get on to those looks in a second. First, a power check. The P850 takes the hybridised 4.4-litre biturbo V8 even further: performance is up from 727bhp and 737lb ft to 838bhp and 848lb ft. It should mean this G90 beats the previous F90's 3.4s 0-62mph sprint - a feat the standard car... cannot. Advertisement - Page continues below Aside from the extra power, Mansory has sculpted in a series of lightweight carbon fibre body components, which, ironically, probably bloat the M5's 2.4-tonne weight even further. They've been coated in that strange pastel-like paint seen on several other Mansory products, like the MXC Pergusa, with orange highlights spawning across the body and brake calipers for more shock and horror. The M5 also gains forged 22in 10-spoke alloys - probably the subtlest thing about the package - and a new bonnet that features a sort of scorpion tail exoskeleton frame, with a central pillar that meets the glow-up grille. Beneath it, the engine gets a similarly themed cover. At the posterior, Mansory has added a small rear wing and a revised triple sports exhaust system, which it says looks 'stunning'. Like we said, we'll leave you to make that call. Advertisement - Page continues below Pricing for the P850 package has yet to be disclosed, but do consider you'll need £111,605 for the base car. I'm a Car Expert: 4 Most Improved Sedans That Are Now Worth Your Money
The price of a new car isn't cheap, but you can find some decent sedans starting at around $18,000, according to Kelley Blue Book. Considering the average new car price is nearly $49,000 as of May 2025, per CarEdge, that's practically a steal. You don't have to go with the cheapest car, but quality is important. Some sedans that were considered cheap when they came out were also unreliable or prone to maintenance issues. Fortunately, many of these early sedans have improved over the years and are now worth your money. Read Next: Check Out: GOBankingRates spoke with two car experts — Melanie Musson at and Alan Gelfand, owner of German Car Depot — to find out what sedans are most improved and worth the money. 2025 starting MSRP: $26,900 Original release date: 1985 Musson said that the original Sonata was cheap, which drew people in, but also unreliable. Now, though, it stacks up much more with other vehicles in its class. 'It's no longer a low-budget car where you have to give up comfort for a low MSRP,' Musson said. 'Now it's dependable, loaded with safety features and comfortable while still competitively, if not cheaply, priced.' Be Aware: 2025 starting MSRP: $89,700 Original release date: 2015 The Genesis G90 isn't a cheap car by any stretch of the word, but it is a luxury sedan that delivers more value for its admittedly hefty price. 'A decade ago I would have never recommended a Hyundai luxury product, but the G90 is now delivering S Class luxury at $20,000 to $30,000 less,' Gelfand said. 'The build quality is comparable to the German sedans I work on daily, the warranty is top of the line, and the depreciation curve is more favorable than the German competitors.' A big reason for this change, according to Gelfand, is that Hyundai hired former engineers from Mercedes and BMW. 2025 starting MSRP: $28,700 Original release date: 1983 You probably see a lot of Toyota Camrys on the road. The reasonable price tag is definitely one reason for that, but so is the overall improvements made over the past decade or so. 'The current Camry is totally different from what it was 10 years ago,' Gelfand said. 'It'll run 200,000+ miles with basic maintenance, holds its value better than almost any sedan and the interior quality finally matches the price point. I see these in my shop mainly for routine service, not expensive repairs.' 2025 starting MSRP: $28,295 Original release date: 1976 The Honda Accord has been on the market for decades now, and it's improved over the years. 'Honda fixed everything that was wrong with previous generations,' Gelfand said. 'The CVT transmission that used to frustrate me is gone… The 2.0-liter turbo engine delivers real performance, and the hybrid system is genuinely sophisticated.' Gelfand also noted that these cars are not just more reliable, but they're also better in terms of materials and driving dynamics. Genesis reveals wild, track-ready sedan, but will it actually release a BMW M3 rival?
The Genesis G70, Korea's rival for the BMW 3 Series, may not be long for this world, but that hasn't stopped it receiving a track-ready overhaul… again. The Genesis G70 Track Day Special Concept is a one-off project vehicle produced by Genesis Motors Canada that builds on the previously revealed G70 Track Taxi Nordschleife . In fact, it's fitted with the same suspension setup and 19-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres as the Track Taxi. However, it gains a more aggressive bonnet with vents, as well as a huge rear wing. Hundreds of new car deals are available through CarExpert right now. Get the experts on your side and score a great deal. Browse now . It's not as orange as the Track Taxi, and instead of the whole vehicle being painted in the lurid hue, it's reserved for graphics that run down the side of the vehicle and across the top of the windscreen. The Track Day Special Concept also features front and rear tow points and yellow running lights. It's the latest take on a hot G70, following the Track Taxi which is being used – as the name suggests – to provide rides around the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Each of the Track Taxis in this fleet is powered by a 3.3-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 producing 274kW of power and 510Nm of torque. While they're finished in Genesis' retina-searing Magma Orange hero colour, the Korean luxury brand has yet to reveal a fully fledged G70 Magma production vehicle. 'We are now gauging demand from the market, if we develop this one. Now we are under study,' Genesis global boss Mike Song told Australian media in January . The company had previously said all of its models will get a hotter performance version under the new Magma sub-brand, which debuted in 2024 with hotted-up concept versions of the GV60 , GV80 Coupe and G80 . Genesis hasn't explicitly said what each Magma vehicle will receive over the models they're based on, though more power, revised suspension tuning and more aggressive visuals are expected. When asked whether Australia will get access to all Magma production models, Mr Song said: 'Yes, except the G90.' 'G90 we don't have right-hand drive. Any one [country] that has [right-hand drive], we'll have the Magma model.' But will the G70 be around long enough to receive a Magma makeover? It entered production back in 2017 and, though a facelift was revealed in 2020, it would appear the G70 is at the end of its lifecycle. There has been a mix of overseas reports and comments from Genesis itself suggesting the G70 could either be replaced by an electric model or axed entirely. Genesis vice president of global communications Till Warternberg even suggested to Road & Track that a next-generation G70 could come with a lower base price, giving the brand a lower entry point. He also confirmed the model hadn't been cancelled, though development of the G70's replacement would appear to be in flux. The G70 is both Genesis' oldest model and its slowest seller in Australia. 'It's up to the market, still we don't kill it. Still we don't announce what the next-generation G70 looks like,' Mr Song told Australian media in January . 'For G70 especially, this is our first model, and still there are customers who really love their G70 and who really want to have their G70, so it's still going on. So it's not time to think of the next-generation of G70 yet.' Sedans remain popular in South Korea, but even there G70 sales have dropped off significantly during its run. Last year, the G70 – including the Shooting Brake wagon – was Genesis' second lowest-volume vehicle in South Korea with 2361 sales, ahead of only the GV60 (590 sales). In Australia, it was dead last in the lineup with just 45 deliveries, though looking at overall export sales it was Genesis' third best-selling vehicle with 13,902 sales, behind only the GV70 (19,191) and GV80 (28,657). It was also its third-best seller in the crucial US market. The Genesis boss scoffed at the idea of dropping sedans. 'Definitely we need to have the balance in our lineup. We don't want to kill all the sedans just because we don't see any big volume forecast,' he said. '[A] hundred per cent SUV brand? I don't think so.' MORE: Everything Genesis G70
