Jeep, Genesis, Winnebago among over 125,000 vehicles recalled: Check car recalls

Here's what you need to know about the vehicle recalls published by NHTSA from July 21 to July 27.
Chrysler recalled certain 2023-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles as they may have second-row seat head restraints do not lock in the upright position.
The suspect restraints contain an internal locking mechanism with an interference condition, which may prevent the headrest from locking upright, according to the recall report.
Dealers are to inspect and replace second-row seat head restraints, as necessary, for free. Owner notification letters are to be sent Sept. 5.

Hyundai Motor America recalled certain Genesis 2023-2025 G90 and GV60 vehicles for a software error that may cause the instrument panel display to fail.
The instrument panel display in the recalled vehicles may not display when the vehicles are started due to erroneous software logic, according to the recall report.
The error can affect the speedometer, fuel gauge and other dashboard alerts.
The instrument panel display software can be updated over-the-air or by a dealer for free. Notification letters are to be sent Sept. 15.
Affected vehicles: 4,754
Winnebago recalled certain motorhomes for a potentially faulty seat mechanism.
The recalled motorhomes may have supplemental restraint system wires that can be caught in the mechanism when the driver or passenger seats are adjusted.

More than 300,000 Fords just got recalled for a brake issue you can't ignore
Ford is recalling more than 300,000 vehicles over concerns that problems with the power brake assist system could lead to a crash. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued the safety notice, noting that the issue could extend stopping distances for a vehicle in motion. The affected vehicles are 2025 versions of Ford's Lincoln Navigator, F-150, Expedition, Bronco, and Ranger. In July, Ford recalled almost 700,000 vehicles over a fuel leak problem that could cause a fire under the hood. That recall, which impacted some Bronco Sport and Ford Escape models, was the result of a yearlong investigation into ongoing problems with the vehicles' fuel injectors. Just prior to that, an even wider recall was issued over worries about the low-pressure fuel pump on more than 850,000 Ford vehicles. Car recalls are on the rise broadly, but Ford's issues stand out. The manufacturer tops the list for the most vehicle recalls in the U.S., though the company's leadership hopes to nip future issues in the bud by holding new vehicles for an extra phase of quality checks. 'What we're going to see long term is fewer recalls and lower warranty costs because of this new process,' Ford CEO Jim Farley said in an earnings call last year. Crash Test Dummies Shaped Like Women Would Improve Vehicle Safety, Senators Say
It's well established that U.S. crash test dummies don't reflect the population. While female crash test dummies are used in other parts of the world, our crash tests still only use a dummy representing an average 5'9", 171-pound man, and a scaled-down male design that more closely resembles a 12-year-old girl than an adult woman. Previous calls to change this have gone unanswered, so now a bipartisan group of senators wants to force a change by law. CBS News reports that Senators Deb Fischer, Tammy Duckworth, Marsha Blackburn, and Patty Murray are sponsoring the She Drives Act. This bill would require NHTSA crash tests to include the THOR-05F dummy, representing a 5th-percentile woman at 4'11" and 104 pounds, in addition to the 50th-percentile male THOR-50M dummy currently in use for front impact tests. The THOR-05F simulates not only size differences between men and women but also anatomical differences. Side impact testing would also require specific 50th-percentile male and 5th-percentile female models to be used. This information appears to come from a 2019 University of Virginia report rather than NHTSA, but the data is no less valid. NHTSA has also found that a seat-belted woman driver or front passenger is 17% more likely to be killed than a man. While IIHS incorrectly assumes the reason for this is that women drive smaller cars, the real reason is that cars are being designed to pass crash tests using dummies that simulate men, not women. It's only natural that manufacturers will design their cars to pass these government tests, despite the tests being flawed in this way. Half of all drivers are women, and cars should be designed so that anyone of any gender will be safer. The U.S. Government Accountability Office had previously requested that NHTSA change its testing methodology to take "more-vulnerable classes of occupants," such as women and children, into account. The She Drives Act would give this mandate teeth, requiring NHTSA to comply. It's one of the few things Democrat and Republican Senators seem to agree on these days. Want more like this? Ford recalls almost 700,000 vehicles over fuel injector faults
Ford Motor is recalling approximately 700,000 vehicles due to a fuel leak risk that could cause a fire inside the vehicle's engine. Fuel injectors inside certain Bronco and Escape models could crack and leak fuel into the engine compartment, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Tuesday. Ford is working on a fix for the issue but in the meantime, dealers will provide an engine update to affected vehicles for free, the regulator said. No injuries have been reported in connection with the recall, according to the NHTSA.
