BTS Breaks Silence Over Michael Jackson Tribute Album: ‘Not Involved In Any Capacity'
BTS denied reports claiming they recorded for a Michael Jackson tribute album at Grouse Lodge, stating they are 'not involved in any capacity.' Global K-pop phenomenon BTS has issued a firm denial following claims that they were part of a Michael Jackson tribute album being recorded in Ireland. The controversy erupted after The Irish Sun on Sunday, a Rupert Murdoch-owned publication, reported that the boy band had visited Grouse Lodge Studios in County Westmeath to work on tracks originally written for the late King of Pop. According to the article, the studio planned to revive songs Michael Jackson had worked on in 2006 with that were never released. Studio boss Paddy Dunning reportedly told the publication that BTS had 'already been to Grouse Lodge" and recorded one of the songs meant for the tribute album. However, BTS' label was quick to shut down the claim. In an official statement released on Tuesday via social media, BTS said: 'We would like to address recent media reports concerning BTS' alleged participation in a Michael Jackson tribute album. BTS has neither visited Grouse Lodge Studio in Ireland nor taken part in any recording sessions at the location for the mentioned project. The group is not involved in the tribute album in any capacity." The now-controversial quote from Paddy Dunning has also mysteriously disappeared from the updated online version of the article, further raising eyebrows about the credibility of the report. BTS, who are currently on a temporary group hiatus due to mandatory military enlistments in South Korea, continue to maintain a strong global presence. Despite the break, misinformation involving the band has continued to circulate, often sparking unnecessary speculation. The group's management also emphasized they are 'continuing to take appropriate measures to prevent the spread of inaccurate information." While fans expressed confusion and frustration over the false report, many appreciated the band's quick and transparent clarification. ARMY, BTS' dedicated fandom, flooded social media with support, urging media outlets to fact-check before publishing such claims. First Published: August 06, 2025, 01:29 IST

Is BTS working on Michael Jackson tribute album? Agency issues statement
A BTS tribute to Michael Jackson, as claimed by a news report, is not happening. BigHit Music has clarified that the K-pop superstars are not involved in any project dedicated to the King of Pop. Fans of the South Korean boy group were beginning to get excited, making edits of their dance performances to Jackson's songs, after The Irish Sun reported that BTS was at Grouse Lodge in Ireland and recorded one of Jackson's unreleased tracks. The report claimed that the tribute album would be called 'Jackson's next 'Thriller'', to released alongside a documentary about the pop icon and his family's summer in a cow shed in County Westmeath, Ireland. Jackson, who passed away in June 2009, had stayed in Grouse Lodge, an Irish recording studio, in 2006 while working on an unreleased album. The studio's owner Paddy Dunning told The Irish Sun that BTS had visited the studio and re-recorded one of Jackson's unreleased tracks. However, BTS' agency shut down the reports saying the members have never visited the studio, nor are they participating in an upcoming Michael Jackson tribute album. 'BTS has neither visited Grouse Lodge Studio in Ireland nor recorded any music there. Reports claiming the group participated in a Michael Jackson tribute album are also untrue,' BigHit Music said in a statement on X. The news of the Jackson tribute spread excitement among BTS' fans who have often found influences of the American pop icon's dance style in BTS' choreography. Their hit song 'Dynamite' was considered a tribute to Jackson, especially with a dance break that was inspired by the 'Thriller' hitmaker's style. Back in 2006, Jackson worked on an album at Grouse Lodge studio in Ireland, where he lived with his family. Sadly, the album was never finished and he passed away in 2009. Recently, the owner of Grouse Lodge, Paddy Dunning, shared that BTS visited the studio last year and re-recorded one of these unreleased songs. Paddy Dunning further shared that he spoke with Michael Jackson's estate and got their permission to release both the song and a documentary. The film will focus on the special time Michael spent in Ireland, where he often went to local cinemas with his three kids. According to Paddy, 'Michael's estate told me to plough ahead with this because like me, they see it as a tribute to Michael. And for the documentary we're going to get everyone's memories of working with Michael in Ireland." They talked about the happy times the family had while staying at Grouse Lodge. He also said that he, along with his siblings, Paris and Blanket, would like to return to Ireland someday and stay at the same place again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, these old songs by Michael Jackson were found in a storage unit by former California Highway Patrol officer Gregg Musgrove. These tracks were recorded between 1989 and 1991. The storage space where the tapes were discovered once belonged to Bryan Loren, a music producer and songwriter who had worked with Jackson in the past. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
