Moyes' wants Lingard-esque revival for Grealish

Four years ago, Jesse Lingard fell out of favour at Manchester United and was snapped up on loan by then-West Ham boss David Moyes. The results were spectacular, nine goals and five assists in just 16 appearances for the Hammers. At his opening news conference for the Premier League season, Moyes says he hopes new signing Jack Grealish can mirror that success. "He looks the same - big calves!" Moyes said on the England international. "You will have to turn up on Monday [to see if he will be involved against Leeds]. "The best example I can think of is when I brought Jesse Lingard to West Ham. He was probably not expected to be too successful, and maybe a little bit worn down, but he got himself back into the England team. "If Jack can do a bit of the Jesse Lingard, it will be a great story. It is a World Cup year and he is in good enough shape. I just need to get him enough time." The 29 year-old arrives at the Hill Dickinson stadium on loan - with an option to make the move permanent next summer. Moyes believes the forward can prove a solution in a number of areas on the pitch for his new side, as long as he is given the opportunity. "I think Jack can play in several positions, as a midfielder [as well as a winger]," Moyes added. "My aim is to get Jack in a creative postion where he can score and assist goals. It is a big challenge for Jack and I am looking forward to seeing how he responds to it."

Barcelona Vs Vissel Kobe Friendly Set To Go Ahead As Planned

Last Updated: Vissel Kobe issued a statement that averred that the match will be held as planned following careful discussions with the relevant parties. La Liga champions Barcelona will play the pre-season exhibition against Japanese side Vissel Kobe on Sunday as planned, despite initially cancelling the fixture due to a serious case of contractual breaches from the promoter's end. Vissel Kobe issued a statement that stated that the match will be held as planned following careful discussions with the relevant parties. The Catalan side are scheduled to play Vissel Kobe on Sunday before travelling to South Korea to face FC Seoul on July 31 and subsequently Daegu FC on August 4. Seul Ham, the General Manager of tour promoters D-Drive revealed, that the match between Vissel Kobe and FC Barcelona, was originally proposed by the Yasuda Group, the main sponsor of Real Sociedad, and was to be co-hosted locally in Japan. D-DRIVE was scheduled to receive full payment for the match today; however, the funds ultimately failed to arrive. Instead, the Yasuda Group had repeatedly provided invalid and falsified documents, deceiving D-Drive by falsely claiming that the payment had already been transferred to Korea. As a result of the fraudulent conduct, Rakuten's public image suffered significant damage. Tour promoters, D-Drive, a South Korean-based firm, blamed the organisers in Japan and asserted that the Culers' trip to Seoul will go ahead as planned. 'All scheduled activities in South Korea will take place as planned, without any disruptions," the promoter said. Unlike in Japan, in Korea, the promoter had fully prepared the matches and covered all related costs, with the exception of the flight costs, Ham added. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Barca's Pre-Season Exhibition Against Vissel Kobe Cancelled Over Contractual Breaches

Last Updated: Spanish champions Barcelona cancelled their pre-season friendly against Japanese side Vissel Kobe due to serious cases of contractual breaches from the promoter. La Liga champions Barcelona have cancelled their pre-season friendly against Japanese side Vissel Kobe due to serious cases of contractual breaches from the promoter's end. The incident also throws the Blaugrana's trip to South Korea, as part of their Asian pre-season tour, into question. But, the Seoul-based promoter, D-Drive, asserted that the issue stemmed from the organisers in Japan. 'Barcelona announces that it has been obliged to suspend its participation in the game scheduled for next Sunday in Japan due to serious contractual breaches on behalf of the promoter," the Catalan club said in a statement. 'Barcelona regrets this incident and the impact it will have on the many, many Barca fans in Japan," the Spanish giants added. Kobe, who had the privilege of serving as the home of Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta during his twilight years, apologised to all stakeholders and fans who eagerly awaited the exhibition game. 'We sincerely apologise for any concern this may cause to the many fans and stakeholders who were looking forward to this match," the Japanese side said. However, tour promoters, D-Drive, a South Korean-based firm, blamed the organisers in Japan and asserted that the Culers' trip to Seoul will go ahead as planned. 'All scheduled activities in South Korea will take place as planned, without any disruptions," the promoter said. 'This is an issue that stems solely from the Japanese side and has no connection whatsoever with the Korea tour," D-Drive reiterated. 'To all media outlets around the world: My name is and Official Promoter of the FC Barcelona 2025 Asian Tour, representing D-DRIVE. 'The match between Vissel Kobe and FC Barcelona, which has just been cancelled, was originally proposed by the Yasuda Group, the main sponsor of Real Sociedad, and was to be co-hosted locally in Japan. D-DRIVE was scheduled to receive full payment for the match today; however, the funds ultimately failed to arrive," Seul Ham, the General Manager of D-Drive revealed. 'Instead, the Yasuda Grouphas repeatedly provided invalid and falsified documents, deceiving us by falsely claiming that the payment had already been transferred to Korea. We have obtained an audio recording from a Yasuda Group employee stating that their CEO ultimately did not send the money, clearly confirming intentional fraud," Ham continued. 'As a result of this fraudulent conduct, Rakuten's public image has suffered significant damage. In light of these events, FC Barcelona has made the correct and responsible decision to cancel the match in Japan." 'We will take legal action against the responsible Japanese entities to recover damages. Unlike in Japan, in Korea, the promoter has fully prepared the matches and covered all related costs. As of today, only flight expenses remain outstanding," Ham added. 'To our fans in Korea: please rest assured. D-DRIVE remains fully committed to making the remainder of the tour a success. We will do everything possible to deliver unforgettable matches," Ham promised. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Keep reading to your children and soak up those wonderful moments

Children love a book at bedtime My daughter is in her thirties now, and my son in his mid-twenties. Books at bedtime are a long way behind us, but, if prompted, I can still recite chunks of Green Eggs and Ham and The Cat in the Hat Comes Back, one of the greatest literary sequels of all time. I know what happened to the Hungry Caterpillar, what's in Sam's sandwich and who Katie Morag plays with on Struay. Sadly, bedtime reading is apparently going out of fashion. Some parents think it's boring. After all, the internet can do the entertaining. All that fast moving imagery and high energy music. Yep, that's going to send little brains into deep and relaxing sleep. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Reading to kids at bedtime is a very special treat. Nothing cosier than a sleepy little head leaning against your shoulder whilst you turned the pages to discover that Thing One and Thing Two had once again created mayhem, or that Fungus the Bogeyman had done something unspeakably horrible. My son loved that book. Fungus was his life coach for a while, to be emulated by loudly announcing he was 'bogeyman farting' with every little peep. He once had an underwater gassy moment at the Commonwealth Pool. Fungus would have appreciated the high-octane live commentary. Yes, they love the same books over and over again. There's something about repetition that reassures children. They know that the very hungry caterpillar will always eat loads of healthy stuff and then turn into a beautiful butterfly. Thanks to author Eric Carle for that. Can't have been the only mum who got broccoli into little tums by claiming it could give kids lovely wings. Note 'could'. It relaxed me too, at the end of a busy day. Mind you, I did find the personality of Dr Suess's flat-out deranged hat wearing cat a little too close for comfort. Turns out, so did my kids. That time is gone all too quickly. Soon they're off and the books gather dust on the shelf. Don't hand them the tablet or the phone. Read to them now and soak up those moments.
