Lexus Sport concept unveiled: LFA successor on the horizon?

Toyota Motor Corporation has unveiled the Lexus Sport Concept, a future-focused concept car. Could this be the LFA's successor? Revealed at the 2025 Edition of The Quail motorsport gathering during this year's Monterey Car Week, while a camouflaged prototype of this car was showcased at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the unveiling of the Lexus Sport Concept marks the first time this future-focused concept car has been seen undisguised by the public. Official powertrain specifications remain under wraps, but from the howling soundtrack it produced when running up the Goodwood Hill (watch the footage here…and remember to turn up the sound), it could just be what reports have suggested – a V8 equipped with forced induction in the form of turbocharging and incorporating electric assistance. Reports have also suggested the hybrid setup could be coupled with a transaxle transmission. As a reminder, the Lexus LFA employed a 4.8l naturally aspirated V10. Co-developed by Yamaha, the LFA's powertrain produced a peak power output of 412kW and 480N.m of torque, the former and latter available from 8 700 and 6 800 r/min, respectively. The Sport Concept's design seems to draw inspiration from the LC500 and the legendary LFA, with standout details of the front facia including sharp daytime-running lights and triangular bonnet vents. The Sport Concept's sculpted profile sits atop a set of large wheels and flows towards a rear end that's characterised by a striking lighting array and large rear diffuser. Lexus Shines At Monterey Car Week, Unveils Futuristic Sport Model In Concept Avatar

It has been reported that the company is planning to turn into a production model, which will take the place of the company's iconic LFA sports car. The luxury arm of Toyota, Lexus, became the centre of attraction at Monterey Car Week in the USA after showcasing the futuristic concept of the Sport model. This is the first time the model made its official appearance after being spotted multiple times during the testing phase overseas. It has been reported that the company is planning to turn into a production model, which will take the place of the company's iconic LFA sports car. The reports suggested that the brand might release the full production spec version somewhere in the next year. However, a confirmation about the same is yet to be announced by Lexus. Here's What Design Says Aesthetically, the Sport Concept looks straight out of some sci-fi thriller as it looks super futuristic. A big credit goes to its edgy look and sharp style statement. The front fascia has been treated with a unique headlight setup, paired with integrated signature-style V-shaped DRLs, and a massive bonnet where 'L' badging shines on the top. The sculpted bonnet features a pair of big active vents, close to the curvy fenders. The elements not just make it look aggressive but also give it a unique approach in terms of road presence. Talking about the rear, it gets a connected light bar with a glossy treatment at the centre, pairing up with raised buttresses on both ends. What About Specs? Under the hood, everything has been covered as the company has not revealed any spec-related details as yet. However, some reports suggested that the car might use a twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a sweet touch of electrification. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Lexus Reveals LFA-Inspired Styling For Its Next-Generation Sports Car

Lexus Reveals LFA-Inspired Styling For Its Next-Generation Sports Car originally appeared on Autoblog. Lexus Finally Hints At Its Next Supercar In A Meaningful Way Say hello to the Lexus Sport Concept, a surprise reveal at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering at this year's edition of Monterey Car Week. Far more evolved than the Electrified Sport Concept yet still just on the other side of reality, this concept is described as a "progressively styled, future-focused yet truly authentic sports car [that] signals the way forward for Lexus design." In other words, we can expect at least certain elements of this concept to find their way to a production vehicle, like the next Lexus LC and RC, or better yet, a successor to the iconic LFA. Importantly, the cosmetic approach is relatively far removed from the V8-powered coupe we spied a month ago, which also made a run up the Goodwood Hillclimb soon after with a racing version close behind. A Stunning Design That Is Bordering On Being Production-Ready The abovementioned Toyota GT Racing Concept now seems to foreshadow something with a Gazoo Racing badge, despite its rumored 800-horsepower output that would make it a competitor to $200,000 cars like the Porsche 911 and AMG GT (the latter of which a prototype of Toyota's GT Racing Concept has been spied being benchmarked against). The Lexus Sport Concept in California is much sleeker and more cohesive with current Lexus design elements, while the Gazoo Racing Concepts at Goodwood still looked like Toyotas despite their camouflage. That being said, we must admit that the proportions are similar. At the front, the Lexus logo still appears in the daytime running lights as it does in something like the aging but beautiful LC, and the angular air dam and vented hood, though more aggressive than current Lexus designs, would fit well with the brand's existing designs if they make production. The narrow rearview cameras likely won't be available (at least not in all markets), but the vent behind the front arch that leads the eye to an intake behind the B-pillar manages to look dramatic without being over-the-top. The fin ahead of the rear wheel is also treading the line between reality and concept. This line is carried upward on the rear haunches, leading to a full-width taillight bar that leans down into the rear bumper as the headlights do into the front fascia. A massive rear diffuser sits below a sleek fastback with an adaptive rear wing, and a slender fin on the rear glass acts as a center high-mounted stop light; none of these elements look too extreme for production, though they are likely to be mildly toned down. Plenty Of Questions To Answer Overall, the design looks very much like what a slightly less wide LFA might look like today, but then again, the Lexus LC borrowed and modernized a lot of design elements from the LFA, so this concept could work as a preview of a successor to either. We should also note that the few photos Lexus has provided don't clearly show whether there is an exhaust, so there's a possibility that this might test the waters for a future EV, though that seems unlikely given market conditions and Toyota's aversion to producing too many EVs until the market wants them. It's also worth remembering that the departing Lexus RC is long overdue for replacement, which brings us back to our opening theory: whether or not this concept previews a specific model, its futuristic design looks feasible from multiple angles, and we fully expect to see a production vehicle with some of the concept's aesthetics being teased before long. The end of the video below seemingly hints at an imminent track outing... Lexus unveils Sport Concept at Monterey Car Week

In a bold and unexpected reveal at The Quail: A Motor Sport s Gathering during Monterey Car Week, Lexus stripped back the curtain on its Sport Concept—a sleek, two-door coupe that feels less like a concept and more like a design manifesto for the brand's performance future Design: Elegant Form, Aggressive Presence The Sport Concept embodies a low-slung, wide-hipped silhouette, complete with a fastback profile, prominent rear fenders, a contoured roofline, and a dynamic active rear wing. Its front-end styling features the distinctive L-signature daytime running lights and a backlit Lexus badge, while the rear flaunts a full-width LED light bar, mesh inserts, and diffuser treatment that subtly echo the iconic LFA. The concept features a low profile, advanced aerodynamics, and hints of a powerful twin-turbo V-8 engine, suggesting a potential production model by 2026 or 2027. Engineering Speculation: Performance Underpinning While Lexus hasn't released full technical specs, the concept appears rooted in serious performance. Reports say a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, underpinned by a twin-turbo V-8 mated to a rear transaxle gearbox, suggesting a concentrated weight balance and track-ready dynamics. Design details—like the engine set well behind the front axle, large cooling vents, and hidden exhaust outlets—reinforce the track-bred engineering theme. That track-focused machine and its road-going counterpart—both seen in camouflage at the Goodwood Festival of Speed—bear striking resemblance to this Lexus concept, suggesting a shared lineage. Enthusiasts have interpreted the concept as not just a spiritual successor to the LFA, but perhaps the tip of a multi-tiered performance strategy: a GT3 racer, a Toyota-branded performance coupe, and this high-design, luxury-focused Lexus halo. The Sports Coupe will share its underpinnings with a Toyota counterpart as well. Future Insights: What Lies Ahead Although Lexus remains tight-lipped about launch details, the concept's rapid public debut and camouflaged sibling's appearances hint that a production model could arrive within a couple of years—possibly by 2026 or 2027. Industry whispers even point to a hybridized twin-turbo V-8 powertrain, echoing both modern efficiency trends and performance heritage Check out Upcoming Cars in India 2025, Best SUVs in India.
